Schedules Direct EPG data goes blank
Posted by: eyarea51 - 2014-03-29, 12:32 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (1)

I am having an intermittent issue with EPG data getting corrupted or something. When I wake up in the morning and check the status on my computer running NextPVR, I will see that the EPG data will have the correct blocking of shows but wont have any descriptions of shows see my image. I have attached the Logs, I have read them and see there is some sort of error but don't understand it. As a remedy I would go in to the settings and update EPG manually and that resolves it until the next time. This time the problem happened again Friday so I thought lets let it set for another day and see if it updates and it did not. So Please help if you can I am evaluating Next PVR to see if it is a good fit for my very casual TV viewing as I download most of my shows.

NPVR 3.2.9 won't record with Bitdefender AV Free
Posted by: JimF - 2014-03-29, 10:59 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (14)

This is not exactly specific to 3.2.9, but also happens to some extent with 3.1.1, but here is the problem thus far:
Using Bitdefender Free anti-virus (a cloud-based service) causes NPVR to not record any show the next day. Apparently this is due to the overnight scan that Bitdefender performs, which seems to lock up NPVR. When it happened on 3.1.1, I simply uninstalled Bitdefender and the problem went away. I also run BOINC for distributed computing, and I thought that might be a part of the problem.

With a new installation of Win7 64-bit and a different version of BOINC I tried again with Bitdefender and NPVR 3.1.1. Initially, everything worked fine. But then Bitdefender flagged a file as suspicious (I suspect a false positive, as it was just a file on SourceForge.net), and then this morning I upgraded to NPVR 3.2.9. Now nothing will record, and un-installing Bitdefender does not fix it. A show folder and title will be created, but I get only 0 bit recordings. I have tried going back to 3.1.1 and various registry cleanings and re-installations, but that does not fix it. The tuner (HDHomeRun Prime) seems to be working fine, and seems to be detected properly by NPVR insofar as I can see.

Also, the NPVR recording service stops, usually as soon as the recording starts; restarting it does not help, and it just stops again.

I haven't seen 0 bit recordings in a while and forget the tricks to fix it. Any ideas?

EDIT: The problem has been fixed by uninstalling 3.2.9, re-installing Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 (vcredist_x86.exe) and also DirectX. But the DirectX was installed from the full redistributable this time; I had tried the web installer already, and that did not fix it. Finally, I re-installed 3.1.1 and it is working again. Whether there is a problem with 3.2.9 or not I don't know at this point, but will stick with what works.

  LAV / MadVR
Posted by: KRA - 2014-03-29, 10:24 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (7)

Also I have a couple of issue with client.

1. Decoder
x264 HD live-tv will not play video with LAV decoder (works fine in mpc-hc) I get a black screen and and only audio. NPVR is still somewhat responsive, but the popup miniepg (up key) does not show up either. Same channel plays and behave fine with microsoft codec. Also mpg2 (sd) plays and behave fine with LAV.

2. Renderer (LIVE-TV)
Madvr has some issues, even though NPVR is in window mode it draws fullres content, so only part of the video is visible. So there is a missmatch NPVR is only showing part of the tv content, this allso apply to miniepg that is rendered mostly outside the window. If I scale window size with mouse video is also scaled to fit inside npvr window, but miniepg is not scaled and stay mostly outside of view. Actually Madvr playback is not smooth at all so it seems it's not a good match for NPVR.

  3.2.9 available (March 29th)
Posted by: sub - 2014-03-29, 02:28 AM - Forum: NextPVR Announcements - Replies (25)

You can download 3.2.9 from http://www.gbpvr.com/NPVRSetup_3_2_9.exe

If you're upgrading from a previous release, remember to make sure you stop NextPVR before running the upgrade.

Please post any support issues in the support forum.

Changes:

Quote:- improvements to the layout and look of icon mode in library screens. Icon lists now scroll vertically instead of horizontally.
- leaf nodes in video library now shows a details screen if metadata exists. May add option to also show this screen in the Recordings screen.
- added new IMetadataPlugin interface, for new class of plugins, called at recording completion, to allow for improved file naming, and auto downloading of additional metadata and artwork. I may need to change this interface, so plugin can UI way for user to select other artwork/metadata if it gets it wrong.
- added new "Filter" menu option in the Recordings screen for users that have more than one recording directory, allow you to show just the "KIDS" recordings etc
- video/music/picture library now gives useful error if the user tries to delete a file but it cant (like readonly or access denied etc).
- fixed bug where PLAYBACK_POSITION history wouldn't be deleted for recordings auto deleted due to 'keep x recordings' when scheduling recurring recording.
- fixed bug that could lead to duplicate DVB EPG entries
- fixed a problem that could lead to DVB EPG entries being in the wrong timezone
- changes to web api:
added method=recording.color.toggle&recording_id=123&color=blue
method=recording.list will now also detail red/green/yellow/blue flags
- updated NEWA (thanks UJB!)
- improvement to the speed of video library loading of artwork and metadata (mainly via improvements to the caching scheme). It'll probably only be noticeable on network video directories though. I notice a big improvement for my Video Library, in my-now-preferred icon mode, using a NAS full of movies.
- fanart backgrounds are now loaded asynchronously, and only when the user stops moving around, to improve responsiveness.
- fanart now also carries through to the new Video details screens
- fixed old bug in Covers view in Video screen, where '..' folder could be shown behind artwork, and showing through if artwork was not big enough
- fixed bug where webclient menu screen would stop responding
- IPTV device makes a return. This time it's a little more flexible, now handling http/udp/rtp transport streams
- fixed a problem with iso playback via webclient.
- fixed problem with changing channel groups in the now/next popup in live tv.
- fixed EPG mapping display problem when viewing channel settings in multi-lineup Schedules Direct setups.
- now has option to give a popup if you reach the end of recording playback prompting for deletion. ("This recording was watched to completion. Would you like to delete this recording?")
- added support for high-definition DVB Subtitles
- fixed a problem that could cause NextPVR in window mode to start out with the wrong shape window, which would jump to the correct shape when you tried resizing it.
- fixed a problem where recordings could be moved to a disabled tuner
- added support for Media Companion style metadata in video library (ie, just minor tweaks to the filenames etc).
- if you have movies in individual directories, you can also have an extra "-trailer" video file in the directory (as created by Media Companion), and the video library will show "Trailer" button for watching it.
- recordings with show titles that only vary by upper/lower case are now grouped together in the Recordings screen.
- added 'exit' action for web clients
- fixed a minor skin issue where text would occassionally get slightly wider when quite a few items were in the list and you'd scroll down and back up the list.
- recording list is exported slightly earlier in the EPG update process, so that it's been done before PostUpdateEPG.bat is executed.
- fixed a crash that would occur if you tried to change an ATSC/QAM channel to H.264. While not common, we have started to encounter some channels that require it.
- fixed a problem with analog recordings.
- fixed an incorrect message shown when attempting to delete a recording using NScriptHelper.exe
- added support for XMLTV shows with "®" in the title to indicate a rerun.
- fixed bugs with HDHR plugin when multiple network adapters were present, and HDHR devices were not on default NIC.
- added an extra EPG loading API to speed things up for NEWA json API
- now able to control recording priority in Recordings screen Recurring list. Pretty much the same as GBPVR, use the skip forward/back to change priority. It'll only let you do this when the sort order is 'Priority' or 'Priority Descending'. If you try it on 'A-Z' or 'Z-A', it'll give you a message to tell you why it cant do it.
- added "-genre" command to NScriptHelper.exe, to get the primary genre of a recording
- added a new 'Freesat (UK)' EPG option, which tells that app to use the existing DVB EPG functionality, but only from the Freesat EPG transponder (cutting down the time to fetch the EPG)
- improved handling of partial or broken responses from Schedules Direct.
- reduced memory requirements for processing of live stream for analog/hdpvr/hdhr-prime devices, which could previously lead to errors/crashes on machines with limited memory
- implemented a basic default metadata plugin which will look up metadata and show artwork from TheTVDB. Metadata plugins are called soon after a recording is started. Can be disabled in the setting screen.
- added 'Metadata' button in the Video Library, which can be used to download metadata/artwork for the selected folder.
- if metadata/artwork downloading is enabled, it'll now auto download shows without artwork in the TV Guide when you view a show's details.
- added option to use new single/multi file screens in the Recording Ready list when you click on a group. This will be off by default, but may evolve in that direction in the 3.3 if users seem interested.
- added a few more skinning options in new single/multi screens. @genre, @duration, @subtitle, @subtitleOrAirDate
- slight behavior change of recording failures in pre-padding. Instead of immediately marking the recording as failed, it'll try again after the pre-padding period.
- 'blue' key now toggles view in the Library screens.
- watched indicator now also show in video library.
- fixed issue with resume in new screens.

Using my own defined channel group for auto recording.
Posted by: softfoot - 2014-03-28, 11:26 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (1)

Hi,

I understand how to create my own "group" of channels - but the only place it appears possible to use said "group" is on the NEWA listings screen.

I half expected to find a way of specifying to use it as the default listing view and/or specifying that auto search use that "group" ... but I'll be darned
if I can see where to do it.

Is this a WIP (Work In Progress)? or am I missing something (wouldn't be the first time!!!)?

I know I could just delete the channels that are of no interest to me, but perhaps another user of my system would have other preferences and have their own "group..

TIA
Dave

Hauppauge WinTV HVR850 USB HDTV Stick Adapter works?
Posted by: CarlScheider - 2014-03-28, 10:31 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (2)

I just searched around this topic, and I am pretty sure the answer is YES.
I am a newbie here. Currently MediaCenter on Windows 7 and an OLD AverMedia USB stick.
It works, but I am anticipating moving to Windows 8. I need a bit more oomph for the transcoding.
Rather use a USB stick than installing cards. And I see they want $100 for Windows 8 MediaCenter.
I'd rather donate something here!

I saw a couple of threads where people were using this stick - Hauppage HVR850 - and the comments were it SHOULD work!
I only need over the air, and only digital. Didn't see any reason to spend another $20 for the Analogue and Clear QAM cable of HVR-950Q.
Comcast stopped doing clear QAM, so I stopped doing Comcast.
It was also a total mess trying to sort out all the channels.

So . . . now I use a Roku and PlayOn to watch things a bit later. But still nice to record things if I miss them.

I appreciate your time and effort to support all of this.
Just wanted to start a clear thread for this if another "newbie" happens by.

Thanks. You folks do good work. Would the rest of the world worked as well.

Issue when playing a recording that is in progress
Posted by: jamhandman - 2014-03-27, 03:29 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (7)

My issue is similar to the one posted in the XBMC support, but I didn't want to post there as I'm not using XBMC.

http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...ing+length

Using NextPRV when I play a recording that is in progress, the end time is not updating.
This used to work for me with previous NextPVR versions. Is there some setting I might have changed and not realized?

I can provide logs and things, but since there are no errors (from what I can see) on the application side.

Thanks for any help.
