I have looked high and low trying to find a working link to QAM.INI Manager. I have tried both GBPVR and NextPVR and neither will find the QAM channels on my HVR-1850. Windows Media Center finds them just fine so I know they are there and have a decent signal strength. I have read thru dozens and dozens of posts and while many people talk about this issue I have seen no solutions. Please help :confused:

Anyhow, I am currently in the US market, and the files created by NPVR when I record a program, are .ts files containing MPEG2 video + audio which is, I think in AC3 format (although, I don't know, can different stations broadcast in different audio formats? I'm not sure what the FCC HDTV standard specifies as supported audio codecs, but apparently, pretty much all video in the US I think is only MPEG2 video?).
So, I'm trying to think about ways to save videos. Currently, I'm having NPVR create recordings on an External USB-3 HDD, 1TB, approx 700GB free, currently. Obviously, I face two problems - if I only have a copy on a single drive, that drive can fail, and also, I will eventually run out of space.
So, I figure the natural solution is to save files to DVD and/or Blu-Ray discs (I have a BD-RW drive).
I have a few questions about that:
The most obvious thing to do (though quite possibly wrong), is just to save the .ts file directly to the Blu-ray disc as a file in the root directory (that is, use normal burning software to create a 'data' disc formatted with either ISO9660 or UDF, containing just the .ts file).
That would be fine for playback on my computer. But, would all blu-ray players be able to understand and play back the file on such a disc?
I downloaded a video conversion program called "Any Video Converter" which can convert videos from and to a variety of formats. It looks like there is a format called AVCHD, which produces *.m2ts files, which it looks like it transcodes to h.264 encoding. Is that "more compatible" with bluray players?
For smaller programs which are less than 4.5 GB (or 9.0GB in the case of a dual-layer DVD+/-R) (maybe a 1/2 hour or hour show), can I put an HD program on a DVD instead of Blu-ray disc, and play it back at full resolution on a blu-ray or HD-DVD player? Obviously, legacy DVD players from the past were all designed for SD resolutions, so I think it would be likely that none of them can output an HD signal, but would most of them at least be able to downconvert the program and play it back (that is, if it's burned on a DVD+-R disc; obviously a DVD player won't even read BD media)?
I am trying to change the IP address (Hostname) in my NextPVR XBMC Plugin. However once I click on "OK" and go back inside it shows me the old one. The same happens with the other Plugin settings.
Can I change those settings manually in an XML file?
I am having a really odd occurrence with NVPR over the past few days.
I leave my PC running in sleep mode 24/7, it normally wakes up to record and then goes back to sleep.
Since trying to re tune my FreeSat channels I find the PC running in the middle of the night and will not sleep because NVPR is recording, but not anything I requested.
When I open device status one channel on the Satellite tuner card is recording two 'null.ts'
it looks like this
TBS 6981 DBA DVBS/S2 A Tuner /Demod:1 (device name)
Recording: c:\devxxxxxx\null.ts
Recording: c:\devxxxxxx\null.ts
I have searched for c:\devxxxxxx\ which of course does not exist
I have deleted all scheduled and recurring recordings.
I have reinstalled v3.1.1 over the top of the existing installation, but non of these things have solved the problem!
The only way to put the PC back to sleep is manually stop the recording service and then restart it or force the PC to shut down and restart.
Is there any way to flush all the recording schedules and settings.
Or has anyone got a solution to this problem?
I really do not want to uninstall NVPR and do a clean install as even this might not work if I cannot get all the links and references deleted in the registry.
Can anyone help please??
So my cheapie K-world tuner from Maplin has served me very well indeed, but I wouldnt mind having HD support... I'm paying for it in my TV license so why not enjoy it!
Does anybody have a model they would recommend?
USB would be my preference - I think my HP Microserver has a spare PCIE slot, but it's a bit crowded in there! That said, if people were raving about an internal card I could live with it
An aside - if I was to change my tuner, what will happen to the scheduled recordings? Also, is there an easy way for me to update any recordings scheduled for say BBC1 to BBC1 HD? Sounds like a SQL command would do the trick?

I'm able to install the program, tuner recognized and tuner also detects signals when I scan. In the next step where I am to set up the decoders, the window just hangs. Inn the Decoders settings all I see is

and nothing else. I've update the .NET Framework to 4.5.1, Included dx9 runtime, added .NET Framework 3.5 also.. nothing has seemed to work.

Hi. I just installed NPVR today, and have been playing around with it much of the day. I have a Win7 64-bit system based on the ASRock H61M/U3S3 mobo, 8G RAM, AMD HD6850 video card, and core i3-2100 CPU. So, not the latest-greatest PC, but a pretty capable machine, usually. I have played a wide variety of 3d games on it, and it has always worked well for me, so performance has not usually been a problem for me.
So, anyhow, I believe that video card is supposed to have a built-in hardware-accelerated MPEG and H.264 decoder? In NPVR, one of the available decoders for those two codecs, is "AMD Decoder". I tried that, and at first it seemed to be working fine, but whenever I would try to jump forward or backward in the timeline of the video, there would seem to be a long delay before the video would start playing, and it would start playing in the wrong place, and run super fast until it caught up, then sometimes it slows way down and doesn't keep up with the audio, and then the playback eventually hangs. When this happens, pausing, waiting a few seconds, and unpausing, SOMETIMES gets playback to resume at the point I paused, at normal speed and in sync with audio. Sometimes, I had to close NPVR and restart it.
I have a number of other codecs available on my PC, including Microsoft, Cyberlink PowerDVD, AverMedia (must have been installed by my TV tuner card when I installed drivers) - and all those seem to work fine and not have the same problem.
I find it rather surprising that, apparently, software decoders are performing much better than the hardware decoder (at least, if that AMD Decoder is actually supposed to be the hardware decoder on my GPU). Has anyone else run into problems with the AMD Decoder?
I have been having problems trying to tune my TBS 6981 BDA DVBS/S2 satellite tuner card into any of the Astra 28.2 2F channels.
I lost ITV1 HD when they changed transponders and after a lot of digging on the internet I managed to find enough pieces of information to manually tune it back in again by modifying a channels-DVBS.xml file and importing it.
But now I would like to get the other channels back that have gone missing!
When I scan 'FreeSat Only' or 'Eurobird' on 28.2, NVPR does not find any of the 2f channels. Do I need to change some setting in the scan box I am using the 'None' single LNB setting?
The current settings that come as standard are LOF 1: 9750 LOF Switch: 11700 LOF 2:10600
Do I need to change these or is there something else I can do?
