You Can Watch Live Analog Capture Device Video through NEWA
Posted by: itsacoaster - 2014-03-09, 05:51 AM - Forum: NextPVR Enhanced Web Admin (NEWA) - No Replies

I happened to stumble upon a Hauppauge HD PVR at a pawn shop, so I snatched it up and I've been playing with it all day. NPVR is my capture software of choice.

I quickly discovered you could stream what you capture using NPVR over your network live using NEWA. Pretty neat. Only problem was that it was designed to be used with a channel listing from what you would get through a TV tuner. I only have an analog device, so there is no channel database for me, and there's no way to click "Watch Live" for whatever it is I'm capturing.

So I did some poking and prodding and found out you could make a fake channel listing that will show up in NEWA! Now I can watch what I'm capturing live!

INSTRUCTIONS:
Just copy the code at the bottom of this post and put it in a file, say, fakechannel.xml
Then go into settings, to channels, click the channel you want to have the fake listing and press Details.
Change the source to XMLTV and browse for your .xml file that you copied from here.
Adjust the "mapping" dropdown to the channel that you want to have the fake listing.
All done! It shows up in TV listings and it shows up on NEWA. You can watch it live with the VLC plugin. Fantastic.

Couple of notes:
--You can play with the XML file to have it say whatever you want. Mine was component video on channel 1 so that's what I put in the descriptions.
--A lot of the crap in this file is probably frivolous, but I didn't care much to test it because it worked.
--As written, it expires in 2065 so mark your calendar to update the .xml file then. Rolleyes

I posted this here just in case it's helpful to someone somewhere--I didn't come up with anything on my search of the forum. Maybe I'm not the only one!
Perhaps in a future version the web interface can handle analog "channels," but this stopgap is pretty easy. I hope someone out there enjoys this advice. Smile

Here's the code you put in the .xml file:

Code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?> <!DOCTYPE tv SYSTEM "xmltv.dtd"> <tv source-info-name="Zap2it" generator-info-name="mc2xml" generator-info-url="mailto:mc2xml@gmail.com"> <channel id="I1.28458567.microsoft.com"> <display-name>1 Component</display-name> <display-name>1</display-name> <display-name>Component Video</display-name> </channel> <programme start="20130321170000 -0500" stop="20650321210000 -0500" channel="I1.28458567.microsoft.com"> <title lang="en">On Demand</title> <category lang="en">Series</category> <episode-num system="ms_progid">1.SH005456030000</episode-num> <episode-num system="dd_progid">SH00545603.0000</episode-num> <previously-shown /> <rating system="VCHIP"> <value>TV-Y</value> </rating> </programme> </tv>

  Locking in QAM Channels
Posted by: highestbid - 2014-03-08, 11:11 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (8)

I have tried both GBPVR and NextPVR and neither will find any of Suddenlink QAM Channels. I tried Windows Media Center and it finds them all but can not get Channel Guide for my area. I need someway to get PVR to use the channels the Windows found or to find them using PVR anyone have any suggestions? I dont mind if it takes a bit of work I just need to get it finished or I might have to go back to a standard DVR and I would really miss the extra functions of this superior software. Thanks in advance.

  Problem running SoftPVR.bat on Win8.1
Posted by: dshoup - 2014-03-08, 07:24 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (6)

I'm trying to set up an analog device on the most recent release of nPVR using the SoftPVR.bat on a new Win 8.1 setup. When I run the batch file, I get the error below (copied from my command prompt):

Code:
C:\Users\Dan\Downloads\SoftPVR>softpvr.bat ******************************************************** SoftPVR installer for Analog devices. (32 OR 64 bit OS) ******************************************************** Success: Administrative permissions confirmed. wintv7_cd_3.2.exe This machine's system dir is "C:\Windows\Syswow64" And it's software registry section is HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\NPVR NPVR directory is "C:\Program Files (x86)\NPVR" Creating Temp folders Extracting WinTV installer \NPVRSoftPVR\temp1 was unexpected at this time. C:\Users\Dan\Downloads\SoftPVR>

It appears to be missing a backslash in the path under "extracting WinTV installer", i.e., it should say \NPVR\SoftPVR\temp1. The batch file did in fact create a \NPVR\SoftPVR\temp1 and temp2 directory. How do I edit the bat file to fix this error (or am I barking up the wrong tree and there is some other issue that is the cause)?

laptop end external PCI closure via USB/expresscard - anyone used it? will it work?
Posted by: jasjol - 2014-03-07, 07:06 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (10)

I am going to use a laptop for other purposes 24/7 and thought of how to use it for NPVR also.

Today I have DVB- C: 2 cards Technotrend Budget C-1501+CI and CAM/CI from Cryptoguard in my XP desktop which works fine.

To use Laptop and my PCI cards I would need an external PCI solution connected to laptop.

I found these:
PCI Express to 2 PCI & 2 PCIe Expansion Enclosure System
this has 2 PCI and 2 PCIexpress ports (also a version with 4 PCI ports exists)
it is supposed to be connected to an PCI express card in a PC. but you can use this

ExpressCard Connection Cable For PEX2PCI4

if you have a laptop with expresscard.

also there exists

USB to ExpressCard Adapter

and I thought of using USB to expresscard / expresscard connector/ PCI expansion enclosure.

Now the question is if this will work with NPVR?

some possible problems I see:

1) it technically does not work so that PCI card is not recognized by laptop ( I chatted with supplier who believedit would work but at USB2 speed.)

2) NPVR does not recognize this kind of solution so card is not used by NVPR.

3) USB2 is to slow for handling the data flow from 2 PCI recording cards when they transfer to harddrive etc. (But there are USB recording devices on the market so maybe there is not need for more than USB2 speed?)

Anyone who has tried this?

comments in general?

Tuners - embarrassingly basic Newbie question
Posted by: MattCole - 2014-03-07, 02:36 PM - Forum: Kodi / XBMC - Replies (2)

Hi, first time here.

Not sure if this is the right place, but here goes....

A non-techie, I am researching a home media solution. So far am looking at Synology NAS DS412+ with Acer Aspire Revo 3700 as the HTPC, running everything off XMBC.

One of the many things I want to achieve is to get and record my Freeview through the system. Hence my appearance here....

My question is - if my (LG32LD550) TV already has a Freeview tuner ( I am 99% sure it does), can NextPVR pick this up even though it is not connected to the Revo - or do I need to get a USB / card freeview tuner (from Hauppage or similar)?

I ask in the interest of saving money for all the purchases I am having to make (NAS housing, disks, HTPC etc etc...)

Very grateful for a clear steer on this!

  Playback fails until full reboot
Posted by: Wilbour - 2014-03-06, 11:22 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - No Replies

I have had this problem for some time. NPVR seems to record TV ok but when I playback the files they don't start. The progress bar along the bottom shows odd negative numbers. A soft boot does nothing but a full hard boot allows the show to play with appropriate time on the progress bar. I leave the computer running all the time.

  Some Channels not found
Posted by: ViRAT - 2014-03-06, 07:02 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (4)

Hello,

ive got NextPVR up and running but the channel scan only finds 330 Channels while DVBViewer on the same Machine finds 395. So im missing around 50 Channels.
The first Channels that are found are around 330 MHz but there should be Channels at Frequencies below this (>= 114 MHz).

Im using a Digital Devices Cine C/T DVB-C Card.

How can i add the missing Channels without messing with the exported Channel XML File, or is there a Option to tweak the Channel scanning?

  Stuck with ACAMD
Posted by: ViRAT - 2014-03-06, 08:29 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (1)

Hello,

im using the latest NextPVR 3.1.1 R1a on Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 with a Digital Devices Cine CT DVB-C Card.
Ive got two XBMC Clients running the PVR Add-On and connecting to NextPVR, which is running fine so far.

Unfortunately, 99% of the HD Channels in Germany are encrypted, so ive got my Cablecard sitting on a OSCAM Server nearby.
The OSCAM Setup does work fine, because ive got it working with ACAMD on DVBViewer Demo and Argus TV.

Now i wanted to to add Acamd to NextPVR. I changed the Tuners to Multidec, so the MDPlugin Directorys with Subdirs for each Tuner were created.
I copied the Acamd.dll + cardclient.conf to every Tuner Subdir and the FFDeCSA.dll from latest MDPAI Plus to the NextPVR Root.

As far as i understand, there is no more configuration to be made, is this right?

The Recorder Service does start fine, but as soon as I try to open a Channel (doesn't matter if encrypted or not) the Recorder Service stops:

  Noobie Here!
Posted by: jrockow - 2014-03-06, 02:51 AM - Forum: Developers - Replies (164)

I am interested in developing my own custom user interfaces (screens) to use with NPVR.

I have already created a new interface for "pending recordings" which I am happy with.
However, this is basically a snapshot of the DB at a particular time, with no real interaction with NPVR.

The next UI that I want to develope would be for "ready recordings".
This would obviously be more difficult as I would need to access the play/delete aspects of NPVR.
I assume this would entail DLLs or APIs or whatever. I have no experience with those.

I've looked at the developers "where do we start" thread, but I guess the sample files are no longer available?

I'm not sure I understand the concept of coding an exe which relies on an XML file?
I thought I would just code the entire project without using an external XML file?

As you can tell, I'm just a noobie, but would like to give it a shot.
Maybe it's over my head?

Any help is appreciated. Thanx.
