  Delete Recordings
Posted by: jrockow - 2013-12-03, 03:12 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (15)

Don't know if this is already possible, perhaps a config switch, but is there a way to have the "delete recording popup, with the OK CANCEL option, automatically displayed after playing a recording to it's end.
If it's not currently possible, can it be added to the "wish list"?
Thanx!

  HD Recording Resolution
Posted by: davecarter - 2013-12-03, 11:01 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (5)

Hi Guys,

I've had NextPVR working for a while now using a SD DVB-T dongle. I've recently upgraded this to a DVB-T2 dongle to allow me to view HD broadcasts which works great. Recorded programmes however, seem to only have a resolution of 720x400 rather than 1920x1080.

I'm just wondering if there is a setting I'm missing somewhere, or if perhaps this "HD" stick I've been sold only has a resolution of 720x400.

Any advice would be appreciated Smile

Cheers,

Dave

  command line nextpvr -updateepg while nextpvr is already running
Posted by: safety nerves - 2013-12-03, 10:35 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (1)

Good morning

I'm new to Next PVR and to this forum. Please excuse me if I'm asking a question already asked. I couldn't find if this has previously been asked.

If NextPVR is already running, will the command line option nextpvr -updateepg work?

The reason for asking is that over time it seems as though EPG data disappears from NPVR even though the automatic update is switched on in Misc2 settings.

Thanks in advance for any information you can provide
Steven

  Another Newbie Schedules Direct Question
Posted by: jrockow - 2013-12-02, 10:51 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

I'm really just getting started with NPVR. (former SageTV user)
I have been testing it for a couple of weeks and things are coming together.

I have been using the MS EPG data, and was wondering what the Schedules Direct data looked like.

Do I understand I have to remap all my present channels and point them to SD?
Is there a way to save the present mappings if I decide not to continue with SD?

The EPG that SageTV uses is quite complete, with release dates, actors, guest actors, original run date, etc.

Can someone tell me (with some detail) the benefit of SD over MS.

Thanx!

  Problems, just flippen problems
Posted by: paulmc49255 - 2013-12-02, 10:26 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

Alright so I will take the hit, I am a noob when it comes to NextPVR and XBMC. I will try to explain what my goal is, what I have done, and where I am stuck.

I was previously using WMC with 5 Xbox 360s for extenders around the house and I am trying to find something that is more universal for the family. I also want to replace the XBox 360s with something that takes up less power.

I searched and found several different options, but for my purposes, I think that XMBC with NextPVR should work.

I have 3 different Analog or ATSC tuners (some dual) that total up to a 5 tuner system.

In addition I have a Ceton InfitiTV 4 with a cable card. This makes my system a 9 tuner system that WMC seems to be able to handle on Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit

I am able to get all of the tuners going except for, you guessed it, (being a noob) the Ceton device.

I have followed the steps on the wiki and have followed the PDF instructions over and over again.
// Over and over again implies that I uninstalled, and reinstalled both NextPVR and the Ceton Drivers. I found it easier to just replace the npvr.db3 file with a backed up one [C:\Users\Public\NPVR ->(npvr.db3)].

I also have placed the Plugins for the network recorder here:
C:\Users\Public\NPVR\Plugins\NetworkRecorder ->NetworkRecorder.xml
C:\Users\Public\NPVR\Plugins\NextPVR data directory ->NetworkRecorder.dll

Even just trying to get one of the tuners is a pain. But rather than posting a repeating algorithm for 4 tuners, I will just give you a copy of what one looks like.

This is located in the NetworkRecorder.XML file
///////////////////////////////////////////
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<Settings>
<PluginSettings>
<NetworkRecorder>
<FriendlyName>Cable Card 1</FriendlyName>
<SocketOpen>true</SocketOpen>
<RollingFile>true</RollingFile>
<h264Mode>2</h264Mode>
0 - Standard MPEG2
1 - h264 video
2 - h264 video if channel name ends with "HD" ie. CNNHD
<RecordingsReplace>before?after</RecordingsReplace>
<LiveReplace>before?after</LiveReplace>
Replace text "before" in source with "after" in destination filenames. Example <RecordingsReplace>C:\Recordings?\\192.168.1.1\MyRecordings</RecordingsReplace>
<RemoteNPVR>true</RemoteNPVR>
Create Recordings from another NextPVR setup on your local network.
<stream>true</stream>
Use http streaming for NetTarget
<host>127.0.0.1</host>
<port>6970</port>
<delay>2000</delay>
</NetworkRecorder>
</PluginSettings>
</Settings>
///////////////////////////////////////////
The extra lines are in there because NextPVR tends to at least try to work.

When I boot up NextPVR, the tuner(s) show up fine, and I can add channels just fine (kind of), however, after adding a channel, still on the device setup page, under the tuning column, I get "7148 Not defined"

When I try to go to livetv or launch XBMC (already set up with a PVR frontend) I either get "Device is used for recording, exit?" or "Tuner not available" <-XMBC

Again, when I set up the other tuners, I don't get any of these problems.

I have also tried to add all 4 Ceton tuners and have all 4 channels sources, yet the same error. I have stopped all WMC services and I am at a loss here.

I saw on other posts, people suggested that they redo the steps on the PDF; I cannot count how many times I have done that. There has to be something somewhere where I am not including. I do know that my channels are QAM256 and the frequency for any given channel don't seem to match the codec in NextPVR but then again, NetworkRecorders don't access that info anyways, well as far as I know.

Does anyone have ANY advice for my situation of not being able to tune these Ceton tuners?

Thank you,

Paul

  thoughts for LCD TV?
Posted by: toomanyhandles - 2013-12-01, 11:39 PM - Forum: Hardware - No Replies

Hi all;

It is time to start thinking about a new LCD for PVR use.

Currently I am using an old Olevia 780P 22" that I have had to solder on a bit to keep going (bad caps).

Currently my provider has analog cable still available, but I'm interested in moving to something that can handle non-analog formats for future compatibility.

Currently I am using VGA-out to the current LCD monitor.

Whats a current good-deal? I'm not too interested in screen real estate : ) so smaller displays are definitely an option.

For a talking point: is there something I should "avoid" in specs for items like:

Thanks for thoughts!

Posted by: Belier - 2013-12-01, 10:02 PM - Forum: Add-ons (3rd party plugins, utilities and skins) - Replies (8)

Hi, as said in the title, System plugin not appearing in main menu. I put the skin folder and the plugins folder in the Data Directory, I restarted, I went in the Settings to configure it. But in the main menu I still can't see "System" so I can't select it. Why?

  New HD Services in UK - no "coming soon" info
Posted by: Petrovski - 2013-12-01, 08:38 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

There are "placeholder" channels for some new HD services on UK Freeview. I've noticed that these channels (BBC3 HD, BBC4 HD etc) have a "coming soon" still image showing the channel numbers via my Sony TV inbuilt tuner. However I've tuned these in on my Blackgold card in NPVR but the still image is not there just a black screen. Anyone seeing the still image on their NPVR (especially other Blackgold owners?).

  Live Tv Channel surfing locks up on channels not broadcasting.
Posted by: Petrovski - 2013-12-01, 05:31 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (5)

If I choose a channel that is currently not broadcasting a signal e.g. BBC Three or Four which are only post 7pm NPVR locks up with a black screen. By locks up I mean I cannot select another channel and have to press stop to get back to the menu. I've just noticed that if I press a number for a channel that is broadcasting the channel will appear after 10 seconds or so sometimes.
