System very busy after wake, seems to be EPG update issue
Posted by: McBainUK - 2013-11-27, 06:08 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (1)

After waking for the first time after sleeping overnight, the system seems very busy with lots of HDD activity. Looking at the log, I'm wondering why the EPG update is not completed overnight, it seems to halt about 2am, before resuming at 6pm (when I turn the machine back on).

FYI: Windows is configured to sleep after 15 mins of inactivity.

  NextPVR and secure channels
Posted by: Markalive - 2013-11-27, 04:42 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (1)

I've been struggling to set up WMC due to really annoying freezing issues that I can't seem to get past. A viable option seems to be NextPVR and XBMC. However, I've seen some web posts about even with using a HDHomerun Prime with an M-card there can be issues with seeing secure channels. Has this been resolved, or maybe the better question is how do we work around this.

No picture or sound in PCH-A100 when trying to play recording
Posted by: ww4397 - 2013-11-27, 01:38 AM - Forum: MVPMCX2 and other NMT stuff - Replies (27)

Hi, I can't play recordings via NPVR on PCH. I can setup the recordings and view the TV guide but just can't play the files. Drop back to recordings menu after about 30-60 seconds. I've tried with firewall off and still no luck.

I can play the files using PCH if I go outside of NPVR and just play them from their folders.

I've attached my log file.

W7 64 running NPVR 3.1.1

  2 shows, 1 transponder, 1 tuner?
Posted by: gonzo90017 - 2013-11-27, 01:13 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (26)

If I remember correctly NPVR allows you to view or record 2 or more shows at the same time using 1 tuner as long as it's on the same transponder?
Well just tried it and it's not working for me.

I'm recording a show on 58.1 and tried to view channel 58.2 (same transponder) but I got the "Unable to find available capture device" popup.

  Orphan recordings
Posted by: Reddwarf - 2013-11-27, 12:57 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

Due to some switching back and forth of harddrives I suspect that I have a number of orphan recordings, has anyone come up with a clever way to hunt down and delete such recordings?

  Hang when changing channel
Posted by: gonzo90017 - 2013-11-26, 08:51 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - No Replies

I selected a channel using the Mini Guide and NPVR on my client machine hanged. I pressed the back button but got no response. Finally after around 30 seconds I got the Windows 7 popup "NPVR is not responding" and I closed the program that way.

  Merge xmltv data with xslt
Posted by: Graham - 2013-11-26, 06:19 PM - Forum: Developers - Replies (4)

I have managed to persuade WebGrab Plus ( http://webgrabplus.com/ ) to scrape show descriptions from the UK Radio Times website. These show descriptions are more comprehensive than the descriptions obtained by the xmltv grabber used by most in the UK ( http://www.birtles.org.uk/xmltv/ ). But ... all the other fields in the WebGrab xmltv are fairly poor.

What I would like to do is merge the data from the two xmltv files ... using everything from the Birtles xmltv except <desc> and use the <desc> from the WebGrab xmltv.

The only way that I have found that might do the job is XSLT ... but the syntax is beyond me. I use the sweet msxml file from PBS ( http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...transforms ) and was hoping that PBS or someone might help me along.

The (edited) Birtles xmlltv looks like ...

Code:
<programme start="20131126210000 +0000" stop="20131126220000 +0000" channel="UK_RT_104"> <title lang="en">Last Tango in Halifax</title> <sub-title>S2E2/6</sub-title> <desc>Alan and Celia have tied the knot at last ... </desc>

The (edited) WebGrab xmltv looks like ...

Code:
<programme start="20131126210000 +0000" stop="20131126220000 +0000" channel="BBC1"> <title lang="en">Last Tango in Halifax</title> <desc lang="en">Alan and Celia have tied the knot at last ... <\desc>

My hope is that it will be possible to match on <programme start= stop= > and <title> <\title>.

Thank you for any suggestions.

  Difficulty scanning analog channels (HVR-2250 + NPR3.1.1)
Posted by: Fienen - 2013-11-26, 03:56 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (8)

First up, the pertinent specs in the problem:
- Windows 7
- NextPVR 3.1.1 (to be paired with XBMC 12.2, but we aren't there yet)
- Hauppauge HVR-2250
- I have what I believe our cable company calls the "preferred" tier, or something like that. Basically, channels 2-68 or something like that, plus a few of the networks in open HD at like 114.1, 114.3, 116.1, and a couple others.

So here's the dilly-yo. I fought this thing for four hours last night without success, and I feel like maybe it's just me.

Confusion #1:
The HVR-2250 is a dual tuner card. Except in NextPVR, where it lists 4 (see screenshot below). I *think* this is because it's seeing each tuner, and seeing the analog and digital tuning for each separately. Which makes sense I think, if you see the screenshot, since on the QAM labeled tuners I was able to find the digital stations I mentioned (ignore the one with 56, for some reason when scanning, we pick up a lot of blank stations).

Confusion #2:
Following with above methodology, I'd think scanning channels on the ATSC tuners would give me my 2-68. Except no, it doesn't. It does seem to try, but they find nothing. And in the docs, there's this whole section on adding analog channels (http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?...ialog#toc9), but none of the stuff talked about in it shows up in my settings as far as I can tell.

Confusion #3:
When I do try to scan on the ATSC tuner, the popup says "Digital Channel Setup", which seems to me to be incorrect, since 2-68 are analog stations, unless that's just a popup labeling mistake. Screenshot attached.

Confusion #4:
Maybe my analog tuning is just bugged? Not sure how to tell, since I can't seem to find a way to just tell NextPVR to tune to channel X manually (sort of like how you can do on a TV without scanning all the channels - manually tune, then add to list).

Am I just totally missing the boat here somewhere? Anyone using a similar setup that can confirm similar issues or familiar with a common gotcha in the approach?
