No longer have access to shared NPVR data directory on XP server???
Posted by: HarryH3 - 2013-11-25, 03:25 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (2)

I have my NPVR server running on WinXP Pro . Just recently, I noticed that I can no longer access the shared folder that is setup for NPVR on that system. It's at C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\NPVR. I first noticed it a few weeks ago when I was unable to use NPVR from a client PC, because it could not access the npvr database on the share. This weekend we had a power outage and it did a hard reset on my MVP's and now none of them can reload the dongle.bin file. I'm thinking that the broken file share may be the culprit. I've disabled Windows Firewall on the server and turned off Avast for testing, but still no joy. I can access 5 other shared folders on the same system, just not the one for NPVR.

Did Microsoft perhaps break sharing that folder with one of their updates? I haven't been able to find out anything via google searches. Too many matches with people that can't access the application data folder locally. Sad Is anyone else seeing this (or even still using XP as their server)?

Here's an excerpt from the MVP.log file just after resetting an MVP:

  HDPVR and Colossus IR control
Posted by: herpderp - 2013-11-24, 08:56 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

Hey,

I've got a colossus and a HD-PVR in the same box. Still working at getting everything working properly with the colossus. Will I run into issues with controlling both units independently?

I'm using HaupBlast.exe (which Ithink I'm supposed to) but I don't see an argument to specify which device to use.

Also, is there any way to send up arrows/down arrows/enter key with a windows applet for the hauppage device? I've accidentally gone to a couple channels that I need to order, and my STB requires me to hit cancel on the remote, or down arrow and okay to get out of it.

Thanks.

does NextPVR have true series link?
Posted by: breedalot - 2013-11-24, 07:44 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (12)

I use MP. the main reason is a plugin that allows me to use the sky EPG data and there series link feature. its rock solid for getting the shows and has the wife happy as well however every once in a while i have a look around for anything else good. MP is great but only after i install about 10 plugins on each system Next looks a bit more off the shelf but I do need the EPG to be right, I would also like VOD support, I use Iplayer, 4OD, and NOW tv do they have any support? persuade me to make the switch!!!

thanks

  NPVR / Girder Keyboard Commands
Posted by: Beamer - 2013-11-24, 05:42 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

I have been struggling to get Girder 5 remote control software to play nicely with NPVR. I have managed to get almost everything working except the commands Ctrl+Right & Ctrl+Left. Girder seems incapable of emulating these keys and I was wondering if there is an alternative method I can use with NPVR to achieve the same function?

Unfortunately these commands appear to be 'hard wired' into the program as I have been unable to change them in the KeyMappings. Specifically I am trying to send the Ctrl+Right function to the TV Guide to skip on 24 hours.

Any assistance will be much appreciated.

Null search strings in episode search ...
Posted by: softfoot - 2013-11-24, 12:22 PM - Forum: NextPVR Enhanced Web Admin (NEWA) - Replies (1)

If you are daft enough (like me!) to manage to create a search with nothing in the search string
and submit it it causes the recording process to take 100% of the CPU and become unresponsive.

Could do with an idiot check on search patterns ;-)

If you have more than one recording disk and have told nPVR to use the one with most room then
in nPVR it only shows the space available on the first disk and none on the second.

no errors, but no data delivered
Posted by: ldj - 2013-11-24, 02:34 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - No Replies

Hi All,

I've seen several appends with this subject, but not seeing a clear cause.
Although, I do have an HD HomeRun Prime, which seems to be a common thread, I am wondering if it's just a bad device, or some sort of glitch from twc...

Anyway, I had a recording set for a college football game at 3:30 this afternoon. I went to watch it tonight, and I get the subject error, and naturally a 0 length file.

Logs are attached.

I get this error about once a week, on random recordings.

Today, (for other reasons) I installed a new router, new IP addresses, restarted everything to get everyone, including NMT back on the air. To make sure everything was clean, I hit record on a show at 1:55 to record the last 5 minutes. I was able to play this back, so thought I was good to go.

At 2:59pm, it looks like the recording I was interested in failed to start.
2013-11-23 15:29:00.015 [DEBUG][7] Executing: C:\Program Files\Silicondust\HDHomeRun\hdhomerun_config.exe 13145D13 get /tuner0/status
2013-11-23 15:29:00.046 [DEBUG][7] Status: ch=none lock=none ss=0 snq=0 seq=0 bps=0 pps=0

The recording went until 7:00pm, at which point I also set up 2 - 30 minute recordings in case the football game ran over. Same channel, etc. These recorded just fine.
2013-11-23 18:59:00.015 [DEBUG][7] Recording due to start pre-padding, but tuner not available
2013-11-23 18:59:00.015 [DEBUG][7] Scheduled Recording about to start maybe a candidate for moving to another tuner (different locator than another recording on same device)

But then again, I think this says that tuner0 is bad(??) but this recording at 7:30 did record just fine..... I just played it back, and it's there.
2013-11-23 19:29:00.046 [DEBUG][7] About to start HDHR device. Checking status for information sake... (could tell if it's already in use elsewhere)
2013-11-23 19:29:00.046 [DEBUG][7] Executing: C:\Program Files\Silicondust\HDHomeRun\hdhomerun_config.exe 13145D13 get /tuner0/status
2013-11-23 19:29:00.437 [DEBUG][7] Status: ch=none lock=none ss=0 snq=0 seq=0 bps=0 pps=0

So, ultimately, I am not real clear on what I am reading in the log, and would appreciate some advice.
A few weeks back, I thought I tried disabling tuner0 (as a shot in the dark) but still saw an error (I think).

I would greatly appreciate any help with this problem.

Does the IMPORT command still work?
Posted by: jrockow - 2013-11-23, 08:30 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (5)

Can someone verify that the Import command still works in 3.1.1.
I'm referring to the DOS command line switch, "-import".

I've created a Videos.XML file that imports without any problem, if I use the config/recordings options popup, but I can't get it to work using the command line switch. I have never used this method yet, so I may be doing something wrong.

Nothing shows up in the logfile, and there's no error returned by DOS, but the file is not imported.

If you know for sure it still works, can you please give me the exact syntax needed.

Thanx!

  Hauppauge HDPVR2 Setup
Posted by: lupeok - 2013-11-23, 06:44 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (9)

I just bought an Hauppauge HDPVR2 and I'm trying to set it up in NextPVR. I originally tried the Lifehacker instructions, followed the quick start instructions when that didn't work, but the decoders weren't accessible and when I tried to play "Live TV", nothing would happen. I did some searching, and following this post (http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post333371) registered them manually. I'm now using "ArcSoft Video Decoder" for all the video decoders and "ArcSoft Audio Decoder" for all the audio decoders.

However, now when I click "Live TV", I see the message "...please wait..." for a few seconds, then the application hangs (the screen turns white, the loading icon continuously spins, and Windows 7 says the application is "Not Responding."

I've zipped my log files and attached them. If you could tell me what I'm doing wrong or point me to another thread, I'd be much obliged.
