I recently installed NextPVR on my Debian bookworm server using by following the instructions on the wiki. It is mostly working, I'm able to schedule recordings and watch them using Kodi on my HTPC and Jellyfin when out and about on my phone/tablet/laptop.
However there are a couple of very annoying issues:
- NVENC is missing as a transcoder option in settings/transcoder. I have a Quadro P600 installed in the server with the official nvidia debian drivers installed. I can partially work around the issue by using Jellyfin (also on the server, which has no issue calling ffmpeg with nvenc) to stream recordings, however it would be great if the NVENC support could be fixed in NextPVR so I could switch on auto transcoding and save some disc space (the server CPU really isn't up to the task of transcoding without GPU assistance)
- NextPVR also doesn't seem to correctly capture the DVB subtitles on my machine. Directly playing the ts recordings in VLC shows a DVB track is present in the ts stream, but no subtitles appear when I try to switch them on. I have verified that this happens with programs that do correctly show subtitles if viewed live on a TV. What's weird is it did previously work. I have some older recordings from last year where the subtitles do show up correctly.
I'm otherwise enjoying using NextPVR, though if I can't resolve these issues I expect I'll have to try again with TVheadend :-(.
any tips or advice on how to resolve these issues welcome.
I have a Hauppauge HD PVR 2, and I'm trying to set up an IR blaster in NextPVR. I'm running Windows 11 and NextPVR v6.1.5.231022. The Hauppauge blaster works in WinTV. I was hoping to use HaupBlast.exe in NextPVR. When I test it in a cmd prompt, I get the following error:
My PC failed to record 'Mobil 1 The Grid' off Sporty Stuff TV this morning, (worked OK end of 2023)
I have tried to re-tune my Sat card but it does not find the channel (I believe its on Astra 2G EU 11538 V Sporty Stuff HD DVB-S QPSK 22000 5/6 1788 MHz L 2)
Is there a problem with the tuning .ini that misses this frequency or has it moved? As far as I can see the correct information is in the tuning listing for Astra 282 (49=11538,V,22000,56,DVB-S,QPSK)
When I watch the tuning process no channels are found for 11538V.
The funny thing is my TV tunes into FreeSat from the same dish and it plays Sporty Stuff TV OK.
Has anyone got any ideas?
I recently installed NextPVR on my Windows 8 machine (which I have since upgraded to Windows 10, to make comskip work).
I have show genre colours set, but all programs in the guide were the same colour.
I searched on this forum, and found the colours are stored in the database. So I had a look at the EBG_GENRE table, and all the records had a colour of 00000000
I have edited the colours in the database (I copied a rather garish example from another post in the forum - I guess I will tweak them more to my taste when I get round to it).
But I wondered why the colours would be empty in a fresh install - is there a UI somewhere to set them that I haven't found yet?
Thanks for a great program - I wish I had found it years ago, rather than using Media Portal 2 (which is good, but a little buggy, and rather over-complicated). NextPVR just does everything I need in the simplest way possible - it's great!
I have a problem with a particular TV show where I select it from the Guide and then select either a single episode or the series
and it places a "task" in the Recurring view but no episodes appear in the Pending view nor does the episode go RED in the guide view. Needless to say the episode isn't recorded at the time(s).
The logs seem to show the request was successful the only odd looking thing is for each upcoming episode it returns
...already got this episode: <episode_name> (recently deleted)
...already got this episode scheduled
I've tried a few other random selections from the guide and these work. I also have long standing schedules that also are still working so presumably it's just these 'shows' but I can't find why.
The full relevant section from the log is attached.
Just built a new system on a min-pc and found out the search from the client app not working.
I get the search menu, select a character, press return and nothing.
The web app works OK.
I have installed NextPVR 5.1.2 on my Windows 10 PC, and I have configured it to use a Hauppauge WinTV-quadHD tuner card. I can scan and watch live TV channels, but I have a problem with recording and playback. Whenever I try to record a program, either manually or with a schedule, the recording fails and I get an error message saying 'Recording failed: No video data received'. I also can't play back any recordings that I made before, as they are all corrupted and show a black screen. I have checked the log files, and they show some errors and warnings, such as 'Failed to open file', 'Failed to write to file', and 'Failed to read from file'. I have attached some screenshots of the recording settings and the log files.
Can anyone please help me fix this problem and enable recording and playback on NextPVR?
