  Decimal numbers for channel numbers?
Posted by: spinnaker - 2013-10-27, 02:58 AM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (2)

Yeah I know I am just full of ideas. Smile Or full of it. Smile

I record OTA so hence my channels in the real world have decimal numbers for sub channels. It would be nice to be able to enter decimal numbers for the channel number so that I can sort the channels just as they come from the broadcast stations. What I currently do is to include the real channel number in the description and that helps a bit.

BTW If you edit a channel and enter a decimal point for the channel, you get an unhandled exception.

  Better skip performance please
Posted by: spinnaker - 2013-10-27, 01:59 AM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (14)

I use skip a lot. Sometimes I like to skip significant amounts at one time. For example, if I forget to pause, I might want to skip back 5 or 10 minutes.

The performance in WMC is extremely adequate. No offense but skip in NextPVr is very poor in comparison. The video will lag the audio by several seconds. A rewind works just a little bit better but I like to use skip.

In addition, if I press the left arrow two many times, I have seen it completely mess up the play buffer to where it looks like it is deleted and you are brought to the present time (occurs in live tv).

Any chance this performance can be improved?

  Shortcut help in menus
Posted by: pBS - 2013-10-26, 10:48 PM - Forum: Wishlist - No Replies

it would be nice and reduce support questions if the shortcut keyboard keys to commands were available in the rt/click pop-up menu...
like: [pip-menu] Swap {Shift-3}
or Previous Channel {Ctrl-W}
like standard windows programs...

  install problem?
Posted by: WKleeven - 2013-10-26, 08:00 PM - Forum: nDroid - Replies (42)

I can't get the app to work at all and when I see the logs, I suspect an install problem. Can anyone check please?

Logs attached.

Wim

EDIT: or is it a .NET problem? I am running W7 x64. Do I need to check what version of .NET I have installed (and if so, where?) ?

  Decrypting IPTV channels?
Posted by: Reddwarf - 2013-10-26, 07:44 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (6)

Sub, it seems that I might be able to receive iptv from my current isp, but most channels will be encrypted and npvr's iptv device hav no multidec option. Is it a lot of work to include the option for decrypting?

Unable to Communicate to Recording Service
Posted by: spinnaker - 2013-10-26, 07:32 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (5)

I have yet not nailed down exactly what causes this but I am getting "Unable to Communicate to Recording Service". I think what happens is that if I schedule a recording then cancel it, and then try to watch TV again I get the error.

This just happened when trying to watch live tv in xbmc. I stopped the viewing then went to NextPVR and noticed that NextPVR was still recording so I canceled the recording. I then tried to watch tv via the guide and received the error.

On a side note: Shouldn't stopping viewing stop recording in NextPVR?

Whn I get this error, I check the NPVR Recording service and it is not running. The only way to clear the error is to reboot. When I reboot, I get a warning that NextPVR is currently recording.

I am running 3.11

  Search by category?
Posted by: spinnaker - 2013-10-26, 06:22 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (1)

I get everything OTA so movies can be hard to find and fairly rare. WMC has the ability to search listings by category. The category I use most movies. Periodically, I will search for any upcoming movies.

Does NextPVR or any of the plugins allow such a search?

  Comcast just scrambled my signal
Posted by: dongna - 2013-10-26, 05:14 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (32)

Hello, long-time NPVR user here. Win7-64 with Hauppauge WinTV-7164 tuner.

I've been humming along just fine until earlier this week when Comcast went and scrambled my signal, requiring me to obtain their converter box. I'm sure this is a common situation, and I looked through the Wiki for help on the topic, but could find none. For now, I'm simply trying to activate the boxes I got (which they identify only as XFINITY Universal Digital Transport Adapter). In order to do so, I'm being instructed to tune my TV to channel 3. I don't think I even have channel 3 in my list of channels. Can (should) I manually add it? If so, how?

Any pointer to existing documentation on this issue, or help appreciated!

  HDHomeRun No channels QAM scan
Posted by: thezfunk - 2013-10-26, 05:07 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (11)

Hi Everyone.

First time posting here. I will try to provide and explain everything thoroughly. I have used search and have tried various solutions I have found on the forums and in the wiki and just Google in general. I have attached my logs in the requested format. I have all firewalls OFF.

I have a Windows 2008 R2 server running NPVR with the hopes of using it to record and then using XBMC as clients on Ouyas (works really well, btw). I have Time Warner Cable with extremely basic channels. I have my HDHomeRun working through it's app and their quicktv as well VLC. I have tried NPVR and 'Other QAM' in HDHomeRun's software. I have disabled all tuners in NPVR except the QAM. NPVR does see the tuner; scans yield no channels. Actually, when I am trying to scan it just stays on 'channel 1' and never gets further than that. I just click 'OK' and close the window.

Hopefully, my logs have a red flag or two that can help. If I forgot anything, let me know. Thanks for any help that can be provided.

Unable To Find Available Capture Device
Posted by: darrenkdean - 2013-10-26, 02:41 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (1)

Good Morning,

I am receiving the error, Unable To Find Available Capture Device when attempting to tune a channel using the HD Antenna. The Cable Card setup works perfectly. I have two Silicon Dust HomeRun devices, one is Prime with 3 tuners and a cable card, the other is Dual with 2 tuners hooked up to a HD Antenna. NextPVR is installed on Microsoft Server Essentials 2012R2, 64-Bit.

HD HomeRun Setup sees both boxes, scans and finds all channels. NextPVR sees both boxes in devices list. NextPVR channel scan finds all channels on cable card. NextPVR channel scan hangs on scanning channel 2 when trying to locate ATSC - OTA channels via the HD Antenna.

I loaded an additional copy of NextPVR onto a Windows 8.1 machine and was able to scan that ATSC - OTA channels using NextPVR. I then exported this channel list and imported it into the Server copy of NextPVR. The Server Essentials 2012 NextPVR is acting almost as if it is unable to control the HD Homerun Dual Tuner box - ATSC. I have been working on this for two days and have been unable to determine the root cause or fix for this. I have loaded the N-Shared.dll from the fixes/patches section, which fixed my ability to watch OTA channels on the windows 8 machine, but did not help the server with the ability to control the HDHR device. Please help!

HDHR3-CC (HD HomeRun Prime -3 Tuners)
Cable Card With Digital Tuner Box

HDHR3-US (HD HomeRun Dual - 2 Tuners)
Connected To HD Antenna
