  Black screen, decoder issue?
Posted by: WKleeven - 2013-04-14, 10:33 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (5)

I have been having some issues with NPVR on my client. Finally I got time to uninstall and reinstall (including pre-requisites).

Now, when I want to play back a HD recording I get no image and no sound (I do on analog recordings). I think it's a decoder issue.

EDIT: I can see the HD recording through the XBMC plugin. And re-registering filters doesn't help.

Recording multiple channels on the same Mux
Posted by: SteveS1949 - 2013-04-14, 08:17 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (7)

Hi,
Planning on using a DVB-S (in the post now) with NextPVR. I read in the wiki that NextPVR allows simultaneous recordings on one LNB if the channels are in the same mux.
Is there a list of what channels share a satellite mux, or can I find it somewhere within NextPVR (norification or anything?)

Thanks
Steve

  Multiple DCR-2650
Posted by: jrockow - 2013-04-14, 07:35 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (2)

Does anyone have any experience conecting 2 DCR-2650s?
I'd like the capability to record more than 2 shows at the same time.

I am able to get them to show up as though they are configured properly, but I can't actually record on both units.
I'm concerned because I read an earlier post on the SAGETV site that said only 1 at a time is supported.

  Diseqc 1 / 2 support
Posted by: haverer2 - 2013-04-14, 07:44 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (2)

Hello!

I've just purchased a 2nd dish pointed it at Astra 1 and with a direct connection to the USB stick it's working.
The dish I already had is pointing at Astra 2 and this also works with a direct connection.

Now.... If I attach both dishes to my Diseqc 2 switch then only port 1 will work...

Is this the problem? The fact that I've got a Diseqc 2 switch? Does it have to be a diseqc 1 switch? Is there any way around it?

Thanks in advance,
John

Where is the XBMC add on?
Posted by: peterh - 2013-04-13, 08:03 PM - Forum: Kodi / XBMC - Replies (10)

Fx: Stupid head on!

So, I'm running 2.6.2 but how do I get the XBMC addon? Can't see it in plugins.... or any reference to it in settings.

Apologies for being obtuse and thank for any pointers

  Feedback requested - NextPVR backend
Posted by: WreckedM - 2013-04-13, 06:48 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (5)

I'm looking for input from the community. I've had it with cable and have finally decided to bail-out. From my research I believe an XBMC front with NextPVR backend will deliver what I need with a minimum of wrath from wife and kids. I was hoping the community could look over my thoughts below and advise where appropriate, particularly around the tuners, processor and video card.

This post is all about the NextPVR backend system

My personal requirements:

  • XBMC front-end
  • NextPVR back-end
  • Separate front/back -end systems
  • US OTA digital broadcasts
  • Watch 1 Live TV stream (w/ record/pause etc.) & simultaneously record another station.
  • 1080p is preferred but not hard requirement (best broadcast in area is 1080i)
  • Avoid pointless complexity

Tuner card / device decision
  • Silicondust HDHomeRun Dual -- But, would this make the XBMC front-end more complicated to control?
  • Hauppauge (HopHog??) WinTV-HVR-2250 -- Looks like this is the only one with 2 digital tuners that would meet my dual watch/record requirement. Would it be better to get 2x single tuner boards though? Any reason to favor this over the Silcondust route?
  • Others I may have overlooked??? One down side options above support max of 1080i. So, if another source were to come along with 1080p I would need to upgrade to take advantage.

OS
  • Assume this should be Win7 x64? Any advantage to Win8 in terms of codecs maybe?

Processor decision
  • HVR2250 requires minimum P4- 2.2Ghz
  • Silicon Dust requires minimum of dual core
  • NextPVR min is P4 1.4Ghz
  • Miminums scare me -- what would community recommend based on my goals? I'm guessing Duo or X2 would cover?

Video Card
  • The tuners don't list requirements
  • NextPVR says 'a modern video card' ...well alrighty then
  • Does vid card even matter for a backend? Or can I just grab a mobo with basic built-in capability?

Anyway, if all is well I'll hit the donate button...and hopefully this will remind a few others too.

Upgrade to 2.6.2 - Device wont start
Posted by: Elmo Putney - 2013-04-13, 09:03 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (34)

Just got around to upgrading to 2.6.2, but it seems doing so has broken my system as my dvb-t device wont start.

My upgrade procedure was as follows:

0. hard drive cleanup+reboot
1. System image+reboot
2. Windows patches (about 7 of them)
3. reboot
4. stop NPVR and run the 2.6.2 installer
5. reboot

All appeared to go smoothly but when I tried live TV I got an unable to find capture device.

I tried it in progdvb and it works ok. So I tired disabling the device in control panel then deleting the device in npvr then rebooting, re-enable the device and then go to settings in npvr to do a scan. The device shows up but when I try and scan I get the unable to start capture device error.

I have 2 tv cards in the box a black gold BGT3650 quad t2 and a tbs dual s2. The s2 card still works ok but I am without any terrestrial tv without the blackgold working.
I'll have to roll back unless I can fix it pretty quickly.

attached are logs from a clean re-boot then an attempt to scan using the black gold, also in the zip is a filtercheck output.

  PostupdateEPG
Posted by: Tre4Bax - 2013-04-13, 07:45 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (2)

Hi There,

So this morning I came down to no info in my EPG. Last week I stopped running a separate timer to initialise EPGCollector and put it in PostUpdateEPG. Long and short is I am not sure whether PostUpdateEPG is actually running (so I've added some echos into the batch file) but wondered if there is somewhere in a log I can check this.

Also I realised that I would probably be better updating this before the EPG loads but can't find references to a PreUpdateEPG.bat does this exists?

Trevor
