Apologies if this is covered elsewhere but I'm not sure how to search for this.
When I start playing something currently recording it seems the endpoint is fixed at the time I start playing, so that when I get to this point I cannot skip forward through this endpoint, however the recording will play interrupted if I don't skip.
Does that make sense?? It makes it annoying if I forgot and hit skip then the recording hits the endpoint, and I have to stop, play from the beginning, and skip forward to where I was last viewing.
I've been having quite a few problems with the .ts files produced by my FTA digitial tuners, scheduled using NPVR, since the digital TV upgrade.
In the old analogue .mpg days, the files were clearly smaller and were less problematic.
Now I very often get a file, which loses the timeline when playing it back on my popcornhour.
What happens is this:
I watch it and
the green bar moves along over the grey one but
at some point, quite often after a comskip cut,
the WHOLE bar goes green and
the time played becomes longer than the total show time and if I try to move forward with FF or Skip it ALWAYS jumps out of the file being played.
I can only assume that I need to find a way to improve the quality of TS files produced wrt timeline - not quality of recordings.
So I'm guessing either :
the original signal is weak?
my tuners are rubbish at processing
my computer can't keep up when being fed the stream from the tuner
If anyone else has suffered a similar fate - what was the fix?
Gurus - MOST likely REASON?
wrt logs, sorry I played one last night, but the logs have gone and I deleted the file in frustration after I tried to use tsMuxerGUI to fix it, and mkvmerge, so I cannot demonstrate what I mean.
For some reason the NPVR recording service will not start now. I have tried to start it manually at services but get an error 3 stating it can not find the specified path. Now I get the error as shown in the attachment. Any ideas. I tried to uninstall and install again but get the same thing.

Hi, I searched for "a day off" and got no results, so I apologise if this has been covered before.
Each week I set NPVR to record Tuesday and Thursday night shows, and each week it records on Wednesday and Friday. Then, I cancel the recordings and make new ones for Tuesdays and Thursdays, and NPVR records Wednesdays and Fridays.
This is the sixth week of me cancelling recordings, deleting files, and scheduling recordings, only to have the wrong show recorded because NPVR is a day late. It's getting more than a bit frustrating, because I don't see anything on my system which would cause this weird kind of error.
My computer's time/day is correct. What's going on?
This is one that is driving me crazy right now. I had SPDIF working before and yesterday after having to refresh my box I could not get SPDIF. Eventually I did get HDMI to work though (not even really sure how though. Today I decided I wanted to try a couple more NPVR config changes to see if I could get SPDIF back.
So I switched the Audio to the SPDIF output and lost audio. Figured I could then just switch back to HDMI like it was and be fine. No such luck! No matter what I have tried I cannot get the audio to come back on either HDMI or SPDIF. I know that both HDMI and SPDIF work because I tested them on the Windows desktop. I tried rebooting as well.
I had to re-install my setup after messing up a audio and video issue on my box. Now I am getting the following errors and wonder if anyone has any thoughts.

I have an intermittant problem where I get 0 byte recordings (DCR-2650). When these zero byte recordings occur, the recording service crashes, and I have to manually restart it. To get around this, I've set the recording service to restart automatically when it crashes... and this works to some degree. Now, the recording service tries to restart, but it apparently cannot, until the zero byte show has finished "recording". The attached logs show a recording attempt (Glee) which shows two attempts to record. When I looked at the Glee recording folder, there were 30 zero byte recording attempts. Later on in the evening, Letterman recorded successfully. As far as signal strength goes, I've removed splitters, added an inline amp, and now have 100% signal strength and around 90-100% quality on my DCR-2650. I'm wondering if this could be a problem from my providers side (Comcast) where intermittantly no data/low signal strength is delivered. Has anyone else seen a problem like this?
