i have switched over from windows mce to Next PVR and XBMC
i have spent alot of time reading the forums and testing my setup.
i have most of everything working eg..
i use a mce remote and ir receiver with IR Server suite and the Translator
the remote will change channels ,mute,vol-up all is good there except the slow channel changes

my issue is, and i can't seem to figure this out is
when viewing the epg and i click on a channel to view it does not change to that channel.
also same thing when setting up a recording it does not change to that channel.

what am i missing..?

Curious problem this. I run two capture cards, a Nova-t and a Colossus. I get my TV guide from Digiguide. the Birtles grabber writes an XML file (from a Digiguide download). All the programmes I want are in the download. Then at 10.37 every morning NPVR updates its guide. All the channels that come through the Nova-T card get updated fine, but some reason the channels that come through the Colossus card on HDMI do not, except one one of them did once. (I can't repeat this behaviour). And the channel listing looks different between the Colossus channels (basically SKy and Eurosport) and the others. Against the NOVA-T channels it just references the XMLTV file, and says 2 sources but nothing in the source column. The Colossus channels also reference the XMLTV file, but say HDPVR in the source column (I attach a screenshot). Attached also are the logs of this mornings session. You can see that it thinks it finds the Sky channels, but they don't appear in the guide (attached a screen shot of the guide). Obviously I checked the XMLTV file and all the channels are there in full detail The only thing different about the Sky channels is that there a several weeks of listings instead of just two. Help!!!

Since upgrading to the latest NPVR, I keep losing my tv guide.

I use Schedules Direct and if I do a manual update, then everything is just fine. However, eventually, I find that it is all lost again.

What do you need from me to help try and track this down?

I'm getting two issues which may result from the same problem. When scheduling recordings NPVR doesn't always warn if there isn't a tuner free like it used to, it will schedule them and as a result padding is ignored and sometimes recordings fail.

I had 4 recordings scheduled, 1 HD to end at 22:00 and three SD to start at 22:00, all recordings had 5 mins pre and post padding.

The padding is essential because programs don't always stick to the scheduled times.


Another more serious situation I've had a few times is recordings stopping completely, I set several recording over the evening, one of them started recording including the padding, another due to start at the same time with the same padding started but without the padding and stopped the other recording, so all I got of the first recording was the 5 mins of pre padding and the second recording had the start cut off because the pre padding wasn't recorded. If this happens again I'll post the logs.

It seems NPVR has stopped been able to recognise if a tuner is free when scheduling recordings and so tuners are double booked, then when a recording begins it starts juggleing them around but can't keep them all in the air because there arent enough tuners.

The title says it all really - I don't think I've ever done it myself (or my little grey cells simply just aren't what they used to be and I can't remember).

We've got a freeview weekend going on with a premium movie channel this weekend, so I've set to record a number of movies over the next few days. I was looking at the "What's New" listings and noticed something I found strange. There was one movie recording at the time that had the red "pending" dot on it, as well as a number of earlier movies, even though they had completed. There was one that was completed that had the half-green-half-red "in progress" dot, and one that had a green "completed" dot. Looking more closely, I realized that the one with the "in progress" designation had been recording when the EPG update is scheduled, and the "pending" ones were all after.

Is this how it is supposed to work, with the designations only changing with the EPG update?

Apparently my TV tuner card isn't powerful/sensitive enough to pick up some TV stations, which my TV can pick up. In particular, it's SBS, and I'm in Melbourne, Australia (frequency is 536500).

Could anyone recommend a good card, that can pick up this signal?

First, a big thanks to the collective wisdom for getting me this far, having fought my way thru port forwarding, network tweaking, nDroid Service Settings blowing up every time it runs (not fixed - working around it), and finally sorting out the firewall. I can now watch live TV thru my tablet :-)

Alas if was all working fine I probably wouldn't be here, except to say thanks for the app and support.

The EPG only displays some info, ie not all data for every day & channel in the 7 day view.
The Now/Next and All time slots have a lot of gaps.

Is it an nDroid issue, or NPVR feeding out of date data or something of the like.

Also, one for the Dev's, is it possible to have an option to just watch live TV? I guess if I get the EPG sorted I may not need this.

I see you did add some code that tries to recover from an NDigitalHost / graph stop hang, but it doesn't quite work. (also, kudos on the reduction of log spam during EPG update... one NRecord log file now covers nearly 4 days!)

in the attached logs, if you look at the end of NDigitalHost-1524.log, you'll see that I watched livetv twice on channel 32.2 "MeTV" (the corresponding NRecord activity is near the end of NRecord.log.2). It worked ok the first time, but the second time I just got a blank screen so I exited; this resulted in "2013-04-10 13:05:39.235 [DEBUG] [21] Async stop taking way too long". It tried to exit, but hung like it always does.

Then at 15:30 it got the request from NRecord (NRecord.log.1) to record Zula Patrol, and got stuck trying to start the graph. At this point, NRecord sat there doing nothing all day long, missing every recording even though most or all were on other tuners (1524 is my lowest priority tuner, mostly just handles a few channels I get only by antenna), until 21:10 when I realized it had crashed; from past experience I knew all I could was reboot, so I did.

Suddenly on the way down, NRecord woke up, noticed the failure, and started trying to recover from it 6 hours too late. It actually managed to record 5 seconds or so of whatever was on that channel as the system was shutting down.

I'm assuming this retry code is new, since I've never seen NRecord do that before.

I'm hoping maybe seeing how it didn't work will provide clues to make it work right.

I am using the Main Concept decoder, and on some channels it works, other channels it will work for a few minutes then just stops. I have tried to disable and re-enable it but no luck. I have attached the log files. Also if record the show and play it in VLC, select Video -> Subtitles -> Closed Caption 1 it works as expected. If I playback the show in NextPVR it didn't show any captions at first. Oddly enough in the recording it just started working again after a commercial break without any interaction. This is after I collected the log files however. When I collected the logs I had been playing Live TV with CC enabled, it had played CC for about 1 min then stopped. I then stopped Live TV, setup the channel to record and tried playing back the recording. Neither method was producing any CC.

I appreciate any input/help, I have a grandmother in-law who is deaf so when she stays at our house it is useful if I can get the CC working.
