I have a problem scanning channels. No Channels are found. My system details are as follows. Please bear with me as I have a vision impairement, so I hope I haven't missed something obvious.

Windows 7 Ultimate - recent fresh install. All available Windows Updates applied, all working perfectly.

TV Tuner - FusionHDTV USB DVB-T: Driver FusionHDTV AVStream Capture (DVB-T2) 6.2.1.0
NextPVR Software Version 2.5.9 + Patches Cumulative Update - March 4, 2013 - NPVR 2.5.9 Post-R2 Rollup 2:

I am running a dual boot system with Vista and Win 7. The NPVR installation works perfectly on Vista with all 28 availabe digital channels in my region, Bendigo Australia scanned with no problem. I installed the NPVR version above and patches on Win 7. I installed the relevant DVICO FusionHDTV Software & Drivers on Win 7 and it tunes and plays all channels just fine.

On NPVR software, settings>Devices - an error is always produced (Image included in att. ZIP file) Clicking Continue and closing settings, then re-opening Devices then shows 'DV Bluebird BDA Tuner1
Incidentally, the sane error occurs with the device page on Vista, and it also then works on re-opening which leads me believe it is a bug in the NPVR Software.

Seems to cycle through the frequencies. Scan Complete but no channels.

I have tried the Hauppauge SoftPVR option with wintv7_cd_2.7.exe with the suitably modified batch file SoftPVR (32bit).bat rebooted etc and the prblem remains.

I hope you can help. I have huge problems due to my vision loss, so I apologise if I have missed some step. I am confused whay it all installed perfectly on Vista but refuses to budge in Win 7. I know it's an old tuner but thats beside the point. The log files are attached:-

I've read in numerous places online before and after my purchase that this particular card does a disappearing trick on AMD machines after coming up out of a sleep/hibernation. I have not experienced this personally but can say that I've found two possible solutions for those that may be...

1. Update your AMD/ATI related drivers - all of them. Some odd device behavior I experienced was resolved after updating the chipset drivers on my end.
   
2. If you are still experiencing issue, I've read that in Windows you can edit your boot.ini to include the /NUMPROC=X command where X equals the number of processor cores available which should resolve the issue.
   
3. Don't use Windows 8!
   

Howdy friends, first time poster, very short-term lurker. Thought I'd share a curiosity with everyone. I've ran into some trouble getting LiveTV working in XBMC w/nPVR on a new Windows 8 build. I have a new AVerTV HD Duet tuner and wasn't sure if my hardware was DOA... Windows 7 x64 had no issues with my ATI Wonder 600 USB tuner in WMC so I thought I'd check that out. I decided to purchase the add-on of Windows Media Center (as I'm using the Pro version that didn't include it) and let W8MC look at the tuners and channels - and guess what? Channels missing and trouble scanning devices including the ATI tuner which previously was golden (sans the occasional stutter and quality issues - hence the new PCIe Duet)! So I look around some more and found that I'm not alone...

Additional searches turn up oodles more of similar threads across the Microsoft support sites and various others.

It appears this is an ongoing problem in Windows 8 and isn't limited to my hardware or region. All kinds of tuner devices are having issues in Windows 8! Some have reported issues resolved after changing zip codes or countries/regions in Media Center (sometimes returning sporadically) or applying an unknown update from Microsoft, but from what I can see this is still a widespread issue. The only surefire way for this to not be an issue in W8 from what I gather is to do an in-place upgrade to W8, keeping files and settings with Media Center and tuners already configured.

Could this be the cause of all of the scattered chatter I am seeing across the forum in regards to nPVR giving a black screen during LiveTV play, devices undetected, missing channels, etc., and various other issues in regards to W8 machines? Is this a known issue? Is there a known issues post/page I should be aware of...? Thoughts?

Hope you can help me out, I've used newa for scheduling stuff but never dabbled with streaming or downloading - but now i have an emergency. I'll be in France for the first f1 race - no problem i thought it'll be on French tv. To my suprise i checked the schedules today and learnt it has gone pay tv in France.

So I'm assuming i'll have wifi and my android tablet so i thought my best option would be to use newa - but i'm damned if i can get it working. I can download the raw recording from newa but the size will be too big so ideally i need it to transcode and download the file for viewing later.

Server is win7 x64 and i'm running vlc 2.0.3 x32 & newa 1.31 if i try streaming from newa on a localhost i can see vlc fire up in task manager but nothing else happens. Vlc uses no cpu and i can't connect to the stream.

I hope this is something obvious I've missed, but the HD channels that are found when I run a scan won't play in NPVR (black screen, no sound).

I assume it is something to do with codecs, but I've installed and selected DivX and CPPP, and they don't seem to change anything.

I'm running WHS2011, on and HP microserver, using a TBS 6280 tv card.

These channels also don't get populated in the EPG, or appear in XBMC.

Hi, had a recent hardware/driver failure of a twin nova-t card, resulting in some failed recordings, however at the time the other twin nova-t card I have had (I think) spare capacity. At a later time, while watching live TV I got the pop up asking would I like to stop watching live TV to honour a recording. From this it seems that while watching live tv NPVR will realise it's 'missing' a tuner and try to allocate another tuner, while in the first instance of scheduled recordings it just registered a failed to start and didn't fall back to another tuner.
I also noticed while reinstalling the cards the the NPVR device status always showed 4 tuners, even while I had 0, or 2 tuners installed in the system. Would there be anyway for NPVR to occasionally check that it's tuner settings match the actual available hardware?

I recently set up Sickbeard and sabnzbd, and love how transparent it is to me. The one problem is that I use NPVR to play videos, and I don't always remember if a show is a new download or not. It would be great if there was a plugin that showed newly downloaded files in the same manner as TV recordings.

I got XBMC 12 (Frodo) working on my Linux Mint 13 (Maya) - Mate laptop. Nice!!! For a couple of years now I have kept my crusty old WinXP laptop on my office desk to serve as my NPVR Client (since NPVR won't run in a VM w/o the video h/w acceleration). Now I can reclaim that desk space!

Thanks to sub and all who have made this possible. It was pretty easy to get setup, I only had a little trouble getting it configured. Some quick comments on the wiki for this on this site:

1. It was not entirely clear to me that I did not need to add/install/configure anything in NPVR for XBMC to work, aside from the default NPVR setting.
2. The XBMC setup info is good, but I think the description at the link below is a little better for locating the settings (helped me anyway).

ps. If anyone cares, getting XBMC running on Mint 13 (should work for Ubuntu as well) was pretty simple, but the Software Manager (GUI) install didn't work. The solution is at the bottom of the page here: http://www.noobslab.com/2013/01/install-...buntu.html and consists of three shell commands:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:team-xbmc/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install xbmc

Hi, I have version 2.5.9 running on WinXP SP3. It's been fine for months, but now NPVR doesn't start, but only give the "needs to close" error. My log file is below, could I get a suggestion for how to fix it? I tried a reload of NextPVR and of the Hauppauge drivers, no luck.

For those using HDHomeRun dual and possibly having issues with skip and ff/rw not functioning properly with some recordings, I seem to have solved it by using the HDHomerun config utility and selecting generic ATSC/QAM as application rather than NPVR. Seems counter-intuitive, I know, but before selecting that, every FOX affiliate ATSC or QAM recording of some length I made, as well as some ABC ones, would hang or lock on a skip, precluding the use of comskip. Will monitor - seems to work reliably now. Have not tried any other HDHR application profiles yet to see if others would work as well or better. I think the channels in question were recorded with ts files that contained timing errors - and now they are not!

On to the questions:

Lately I have noticed that if I watch a recording while that recording is still in progress, I will be "kicked-out" of the playback stream when the recording ends as scheduled (in my case 2mins after program end). I do have comskip enabled "on the fly" which is to say, it generates commercial info via edl file during recording. Is this why playback is stopped - and/or can that be avoided?

Other question - do "AV"-specific hard drives offer better performance on PC pvr apps or only on dedicated DVR hardware? Should it matter much if one spools live timeshift files to another volume or physical device than the one used for recording?
