channels found but no picture or sound when trying to play live tv
Posted by: kriahi - 2013-02-06, 05:01 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (10)

hi everyone

i have an hdhomerun and i cant get it to play the tv channels. all i get is a black screen with no sound. ive gone through the forums and tried everything i could. good news is when i did the channel scan, npvr found 67 channels. so i know its communicating with my tuner. i have firewall turned off. i have tried all of the codecs (i think) and i downloaded saf6. i can get channels to play on WMC and i even setup argus tv and that works too. but i dont know why i cant get npvr to play any of the 67 channel!

any help would be super appreciated! i attached my logs.

thanks

  NetworkRecorder/Ceton InfiniTV problems with NPVR
Posted by: bjg222 - 2013-02-06, 04:06 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (7)

I'm having some issues getting NPVR set up and working properly with my Ceton card. I've followed all the various guides to get SageDCT set up, all the newest patches for NPVR, NetworkRecorder installed, and think that I have everything as it should be. But I haven difficulties trying to play live TV and recordings in NPVR. Initially, I had the same black screen problem that numerous other threads seem to have. After reading quite a few of them, I somehow managed to solve that problem, but it's still not working quite right. I now get video just fine, but no audio. Additionally, the lenght timer in the bottom left of the live TV screen seems to count down from 00:00:02... So after 30 seconds of watching video, it says 00:00:-28! And on some channels, the video only plays for a few seconds before freezing (and the count down freezes too). I can record these channels ok, it seems, but the recordings still play back in NPVR with no audio (and don't seem to play in VLC at all). Ultimately, I'd like to have this set up with XMBC, but I haven't even tested it with XMBC yet since I can't get it to work right in NPVR. I'm guessing there might be some simple fix that I'm missing, but after reading so many threads, I'm fairly well thoroughly confused! Any help would be greatly appreciated! Just let me know what information you need me to provide. In the mean time, some of my details are below:

OS: Windows 7 x64 Pro
Card: Ceton InfiniTV 4 with Comcast cable card (works perfectly in WMC)
Installed SageTV, Installed NPVR, Copied NVPR patches, Downloaded NetworkRecorder, Configured 1 of the 4 tuners with NPVR NetworkRecorder, Downloaded channels/EPG through free trial with SD
Logs attached!

  Comskip rules for XBMC.
Posted by: mvallevand - 2013-02-06, 01:38 AM - Forum: Kodi / XBMC - Replies (45)

One of my original pet peeves about XBMC is that comskip files would hide the true duration of the file, and the position was minus any commercials My 30 minute shows would show as 22 minutes etc. I found this great tip posted on the SageTV forums by LehighBre http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthre...stcount=55 pointing out this donator version option for comskop

Code:
- Parameter added: edl_skip_field, sets the skip indicator in an EDL file. Default value is '0'. Set to edl_skip_field=3 to have better skipping on XBMC

Once set the true duration is shown. It's not as nice as NextPVR because the commercials dont show on the timeline, but the skipping is fantastic.

It's a good day for NextPVR Here's another positive NextPVR+ XBMC PVR thread http://betanews.com/2013/02/05/get-live-...g-in-xbmc/

Quote:There are a number of third-party options available to you depending on which platform you’re running XBMC on, but we’d recommend NextPVR if you’re running Windows and MythTV if you’re running Mac or Linux.

nDroid: I need testers with lots of channels
Posted by: bgowland - 2013-02-05, 10:23 PM - Forum: nDroid - Replies (2)

I've re-worked the way EPG data is handled by nDroid in the hope it will solve problems with importing data for a large number of channels. It's not ready to go to public release yet as I'd like to test it out first.

If you'd like to help test I'm looking for the following...

1. A lot of channels in your NextPVR setup goes without saying (at least 120, ideally 150 or more).
2. Willing to hack about with test versions of the nDroid app and service.
3. Reasonably tech savvy and able to install Android apps manually (not using the Google Play Store). I'll provide full instructions for this.
4. Willing to report back your experience.

All I really need to get back from testers is...

1. How many channels do you have.
2. Did it work?
3. How long does it take to import / update the EPG data (assuming it works of course).

If you're interested then PM me with an email address so I can send instructions and links for downloads.

Cheers,
Brian

I suspect the forum might get a little busier soon.

I recently installed XBMC and I am also playing with Raspbmc. Very nice work by all. Won't take me away from NextPVR right now, but if my PCH's die it's a nice path.

epg not available after merging channels
Posted by: fluffykeith - 2013-02-05, 09:35 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (15)

I merged and renumbered the channels.

Before the change I could play a channel and it would populate the epg (OTA) so when exiting watching tv I could see the refreshed listing and empty guide became a full guide.

Previously sub had told me that when merging, select the entry in the merge list with the tuner that you want to get the epg from, so I manually merged each group of channels carefully selecting the DVB-T rather than DVB-S, so that DVB-T is first in the list which apprently is where the epg data will come from. so for example, if I look at the merge list I now have "DVB-T, DVB-T, DVB-S, DVB-S" for BBC ONE. (I can see the merged list if I select channels to merge).

But now if I watch BBC ONE and then go to the guide the epg is not updated for the channel.

How can I control or even know where the OTA epg data is coming from, ie, which tuner, I have 2 DVB-T and 2 DVB-S. I tried changing the order in the devices list but this made no difference.

  Wish list - Installation Wizard
Posted by: Jakesty - 2013-02-05, 07:18 AM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (10)

As much as I love new features, I'm sure that NextPVR can already provide 95% of what most people need, but getting there is such a chore/pain.

I'd like to see an installation/configuration wizard that could:
[INDENT]1. Search out what you have, Hardware, Tuners, OS
2. make suggestions/have defaults, ask if this is server or extender set up
3. Install appropriate .net based on your Windows version if missing including patches maybe
4. Interview you as to what your hardware is if not all completely detectable
5. What add-ons you'd like installed configured or downloaded (such as Comskip or TV GUIDEPLUS or XBMC or handbrake) etc
6. Where your recording folder(s) and other folders are located
7. Build basic .BAT files for the guide download and steps necessary for other guide config like Schedules Direct if installation or subscription is needed
8. Additional .BAT files for the above mentioned in progress or post processing as needed
9. Set the appropriate CODEC and have a test to ensure audio/video operation
10. Ability to clear old DB, import in new recordings, resolve meta data into the database
11. Download AC3 filter, or provide opportunity to do so in-line of the wizard manually
12. Update firewall settings
13. Check to see if there is a newer version of NPVR out there
14. Backs up the configuration before making changes
15. Based on TV resolution or recording quality set type/size of screen and video recording and what type of file to record as if possible
16. Auto Channel scan
17. Set up of Web admin
18. Settings for extenders like RPi, NMT, and others
19. Remote control configuration?[/INDENT]

I'm sure there are many other items which could be added to this list, just a few off the top of my head. I'm sure this has already been requested, I just wanted to emphasize some of the struggles I've had configuring the system.

I'd say at least out of the box then you'd have a lot less help requests and more acceptance about how it is to set up and ultimately use NextPVR. I like to tinker and modify the system and these steps won't get rid of that, but a basic working model could up and running more reliably and quickly.

Looking for help with a Windows Firewal problem
Posted by: OTAjunkie - 2013-02-05, 12:40 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

This thread concearns nDroid and Windows Firewall but I have a thread in on this problem in nDroid but very little response
I'm hoping that posting here may get more attention and someone can help me with this.

NEWA works as it should and can pass my firewall to LAN and WAN.
But I'm trying out nDroid and it only works to my LAN or WAN if Windows Firewall is "off".

"All works well only if I drop Windows Firewall.
I had the same problem with the first release but I can't remember the fix.
No problem on my router, ports 8790, 8791 are forwarded and I can connect via LAN or WAN with Win firewall off.
Windows Firewall Exceptions include NDroid Service
Windows Advanced Firewall has an inbound rule for NDroid Service set to 8790, 8791 for UDT and TCP."

This is not a streaming issue, I simply can't connect unless WF is off.

Any Ideas?

  Windows Firewall problem
Posted by: OTAjunkie - 2013-02-05, 12:30 AM - Forum: nDroid - Replies (1)

Solved,,,,?

But I can't understand why.

I opened Advanced Firewall and looked at my existing rules for "ndroid sevice". chnaged nothing
opened "new rule" and this time made it for the ports only, not for the program.

Success on WiFi LAN connection!!

but no connection over WAN

logged into my dlink 615 and changed the ndroid settings from "port forwarding" to "virtual server".

Success on WAN connection!

just one glitch, "Music" won't load on either connection type. All I get is the top banner "Music"
This 'Music" folder populates in NEWA
