Video framerate conversion is causing hickups
Posted by: WKleeven - 2013-01-23, 12:39 PM - Forum: General Discussion - No Replies

I've got a question about video conversion. I recently downloaded a video that had a frame rate of 29,97 and I wanted to add (hardcode) subtitles from a srt-file and play it throught the MVP on my tv. I used tmpgenc for this and I set the framerate to 25.

After conversion the video has a stutter every 2 seconds or so.

Can anyone tell me what settings I need to use (preferably) in tmpgenc to avoid the stutter (and be able to play it through the MVP)?

Hauppauge HD PVR 2 (Gaming edition) - How To Work?
Posted by: ranlandau - 2013-01-23, 12:23 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

Hi,

I've recently purchased the above, and i read NextPVR suppose to support it.
(Current no IR Blaster - which is recommended BTW?)

I've connected my HDMI-In and HDMI-Out and I see TV.
I've install ShowBiz Capture i've received with the Device, it also works and captures.

Then, I've installed NextPVR, it looks like it does recognize the device,
But when Pressing on Live-TV, or Man-Rec - nothing is on screen, and sometimes voice lost in TV.

Any advice or guide for that?

Thanks!
Ran.

  1.8.4
Posted by: fuzzweed - 2013-01-23, 07:21 AM - Forum: nDroid - Replies (13)

Thanks for the update, just a couple of (very small)things so far:
1) During the install the cmd window stated installation failed rollback completed (or something similar), but the windows installer reported installation successful. Properties for the service indicate 1.8.4, so I guess it did update, but the contradictory info could be confusing.
2) Would really have loved server settings to persist across the install on both the client and service. It's surprisingly fiddly to re-enter everything on two devices, starting and stopping various services! Also if the credentials don't match between the server and client then the client gets stuck and has to be uninstalled and reinstalled to get back to the settings page.
3) The transcoding options are greyed out in the menu options. Am I missing something?

Anyway, great work, just being picky, hope you don't mind in the search for perfection!!

  NPVR, HDHomeRun Prime and HDCP
Posted by: brcarls - 2013-01-22, 09:47 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

I have an awesome 27" DVI-only IPS monitor that isn't HDCP compliant. I just got a HDHomeRun Prime and installed NPVR on my Win7 (64 bit) PV connected to my non-HDCP monitor, and got it running with no drama.

Then I started playing with Windows Media Center and it wouldn't show any TV, just putting up a message about HDCP (even though every channel on my cable system is "copy freely")

Then I tried NPVR again and can't see video from the HDHR Prime, just a black screen, no audio, no video.

Did Media Center do something to my setup that broke NPVR? Or does NPVR bend over for HDCP? Or did the HDHR Prime log my MAC address as being reported by WMC as not respecting HDCP? Or what?

Quickview still works on this PC and NPVR works on another PC that has a MAFIAA approved display..

  Comskip wiki page clarification
Posted by: brcarls - 2013-01-22, 09:37 PM - Forum: NPVR Documentation - Replies (1)

On the Comskip wiki page, the install directory is recommended to be "C:\comskip\" but the batch file in the Usage section seems to assume that you installed it in "C:\Users\Public\NPVR\Scripts".

http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?n=Utility.Com

Unless I misunderstand what that page is telling me, newbs who try to get this working by cutting and pasting (i.e. me), using the recommended install location, are going to have trouble.

Would someone who is knowledgeable about Comskip + NPVR review that page and make the recommendations match the examples, and maybe add any more info that might be helpful?

Recordings cut-off due to improper use of multiple tuners
Posted by: TVHelp - 2013-01-22, 06:35 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (62)

I was having issues with zero size or completely blank recordings so I installed the latest along with the patches and redid my whole setup to get clean channel scan. Seems to have been a mistake. Now my shows are getting cut-off by NPVR switching tuners inappropriately.

E.G.
Show A 7:00 pm Channel 1
Show B 7:00 pm Channel 2
Show C 8:00 pm Channel 1
Show D 8:00 pm channel 3
Show E 9:00 pm channel 4
Show F 9:00 pm Channel 5

Tuner 21 starts to record show A stops normally with no further recordings until an hour later to record show E on new channel.
Tuner 23 starts to record show B then stops short cutting off recording to switch to show D on channel 3 (1/2 hour show - is this the issue) ends and records next show F in 1/2 hour
Tuner 25 starts to record show C on channel 1 ends normal
Tuner 27 is idle and never used

Shouldn't the logic be to record show C on tuner 21 so that it can stay on the same channel, and include all pre and post padding, use tuner 25 (or 27) for show D and then use tuner 23 or 25 for either show E or F - it use to do this? I could understand if I had 4 shows schedule for each time then something would need to be stopped early, but this really does not make sense.

Bottom line, shouldn't back to back shows on the same channel use the same tuner - this is the most effective use of a tuner, leaving channel switching to another tuner? The whole reason I use NPVR instead of media center is because NPVR allowed post recording overlap on same channel whereas Media Centre always cuts off shows even when on the same channel and does not honor post recording time or use additional tuners.

This was a problem before, then seemed to be fixed, now it is back again. Or is there something in the way I setup the recordings initially - i.e. order that I created the recurring recordings - that affects this? I always restart recording services after setting up new recordings as I thought this is where the logic is applied, is that a good idea or bad idea?

What is the best way to roll-back to another version of the software, without doing a windows restore or redoing all my setup, to see if that helps?

Logs attached.

Can't get EPG for HD channels
Posted by: Croftie - 2013-01-22, 05:20 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (8)

EDIT
Nevermind, this got me going.

Ok so just got a T2 card and so far so good accept I can't get EPG data for the HD channels to work.

As I understand it this is because HD EPG data is encrypted and I need to setup an alternate method, I have tried reading the wiki and a few threads on here but I'm lost and can't get it to work.

Can anyone guide me through the process please, I'd really appreciate it.

NEWA Recording and Cancel Recording buttons missing now -- help
Posted by: jt25741 - 2013-01-22, 04:33 PM - Forum: NextPVR Enhanced Web Admin (NEWA) - Replies (4)

After changing NPVR 2.5.9 Media folder locations to another drive, NPVR crashed hard and recordings failed. Not sure why this happened since my Recording directory never changed....just media folders.

After restarting NPVR, everything is behaving strangely with NEWA. NEWA works, but no options exist for recording any episodes -- or canceling recordings that already exist.

In the process of constantly restarting recording service, rebooting XP to no avail....I updated the NPVR patch level to the latest R2 patches for this release. That didn't help. Then I updated the latest NEWA build 1.31 to see if that helped. Nothing changed.....no option to record or cancel recording any longer.

Logs attached. Any help appreciated.

  Green Button on MCE Remote
Posted by: Bobbybear - 2013-01-22, 11:47 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (2)

Hi Support
I have a small but niggling problem, I cannot get the green button on my MCE Remote to start up NPVR.
I have checked the setting in Misc2 and it is ticked, I have set and reset it but no joy.
Any ideas?
Regards
Bob

PS. I have just upgraded to Win8 Pro and everything seems just fine, my only issue was with decoders but installing SAF6 soon cured that.

Live TV issue after appyling NPVR 2.5.9 Patches R2
Posted by: lengis - 2013-01-22, 09:22 AM - Forum: Kodi / XBMC - No Replies

Hi,

Installed NPVR 2.5.9 Patches R2 yesterday and after that i can only watch live tv for about 10 mins. After that i get a popup saying "No PVR Client has yet been started" and i'm back at the homescreen where i can see the EPG data being downloaded as when i first start XBMC. Then i can start live tv again for another 10 mins or so... So my conclusion is that the PVR client somehow restarts. I'm on Frodo RC3/Win7 btw, will give it a try from a Mac as well to see if it's the same there...

Any idea on what R2 patch to revert first to try to sort this?

I will dig in to the log files when i get home tonight or tomorrow...

Br

Lengis
