Hi, I have been using npvr for a few years now, and recording 720p from the analog output of my decoder to the colossus card for over a year with great results.
For no good reason I decided in early december to upgrade to npvr 2.5.9, since I noticed I was a few versions behind (It was 2.3.6).
I like the new EPG warnings for conflicts but apart from that, havent used any new features.
Today I finally had time to watch some (recorded) TV and immediately noticed something was wrong. Very apparent compression artifacts, especially around text and in dark or fast-moving scenes. I've looked through my recordings and the degradation started on december 8. December 1st recordings are fine. I have nothing in-between. Looking at the files, I was shocked by the small size and bitrate. 1700-1800 kbps, instead of the usual 7-8000. Resulting in a .ts file of 1.8GB for a 2 hour recording, instead of the usual 7.5-9.5GB. Codec is still H.264 AVC.
I looked to the HDPVR settings in config.xml and they havent changed (compared to config.old.xml and my remembrance).
720p settings are 9000000 and peak13500000 VBR. I believe these are the defaults.
Is there another place where the recording bitrate for the colossus card is set?
Totally fed up with trying to get NPVR to work with my XP system, even after a complete fresh install of Windows etc...see my other posts...
I have a Hauppauge Nova HD S2 PCI card at present. This is the device that is causing issues. I cannot get it to tune and scan correctly. It will tune and scan but will miss at least 75% of the transponders. Works fully under Linux and TVHeadEnd.
Can anyone recommend a card that requires little intervention that works. Must work with UK DVB-S2 and all it's vagaries! I am quite happy for USB or PCI suggestions. Even PCIe suggestions are possible.
Many thanks everyone...I really do not want to go back to MythTV on Linux....
I've got TVListings + Xmlextras and use the donator version of MC2XML (includes image URL).
I could swear there was a time when I could get the image from a TVDB linked show to appear and the image for a non-linked show (from xmltv.xml) to appear. But for several months the xmltv images hadn't been showing up, only images from TVDB linked shows. So I screwed around and now have only the cheesey cast ensemble non-episode specific xmltv image and no TVDB show image for a linked show.
What have I messed up?
Hey guys, just started getting in to NextPVR after using WMC for a while with my HDHR Prime. I'm having trouble getting EPG data to display, however.
I've scanned for and found a my relevant channels and I'm able to view content. I'm using mc2xml to pull EPG data down from Microsoft Legacy and write the EPG data to a file called tvguide.xml. That portion seems to work, and I can see in my npvr.log file that UpdateEPG.bat is called when I press the button to update. I can also see that NPVR attempts to load tvguide.xml. After that, my understanding of the logs starts to fall apart and I'm hoping you guys might be able to help me out.
I've searched the boards long and hard to find an answer to this one but no matter what I try, my TV guide continues to say that there is "no show detail" available for all time slots on all channels. Zip containing NPVR.log, UpdateEPG.bat, and tvguide.xml is attached, let me know if you need anything else.
hi,
I have a classical problem after long time of proper functioning. All of a sudden, computer does not wake up for recording.Three days ago everything was ok.
I did numerous restarts of nPVR and PC but it did not help.
LOg is attached.
here are the lines from the last attempt:

Hi. I'm a long time GB-PVR user who is just now trying to migrate to NPVR. This is my first time using NPVR.
I am unable to use my Sapphire Theatrix 550 Pro (Ati Theater 550 Pro) analogue/capture card. The device is present on my device list but I am unable to tune to any channel with it. It seems to have a problem communicated with the onboard encoder (log files attached). It throws an exception error when I try to perform a channel scan (error message also attached). When I tried to tune it to a channel after manually setting one up, it simply says the device is unavailable.
Note that I have a Hauppauge HVR-1600 installed as well. I have no problem capturing analogue signals with it. Both analogue tuner/capture cards still work with my GB-PVR software.
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer. I love your pvr software!
I'm probably missing something simple, but I'm not getting any channels when I do a scan.
1. I installed my HDHomeRun (non-prime) on my network and attached my antenna
2. I ran its scan and it found 17 channels
3. In the homerun gui, I indicated I was using "nextpvr"
4. In NextPVR Settings->Devices, I see 6 entries.
5. In 'Device setup', I ran the scan on the first of the "ATSC" entries and I get the attached log. It seems to indicate that there are some channels found (or at least I see 8 that are 'locked' and 'present').
6. I get "Scan complete" and no channels are captured.
I have NextPVR 2.5.9. I installed it before I had the HomeRun if that makes any difference.
I shut down my antivirus and my firewall without it seeming to make any difference.
When I setup my xmltv file years ago while using GBPVR I used +0000 for the offset time. When I upgraded to NPVR I used the same xmltv setup. Now if I import the recordings into a new install of NPVR the time of the recordings is off by 6 hours. What can I do to correct the times of the recordings?
