Ignore folder.xxx and default.xxx in Pictures Library
Posted by: imilne - 2012-12-29, 03:43 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (2)

Could you add the ability (or an option) to have the Pictures Library ignore any images that match the usual folder icon ones (folder.jpg, default.png, etc)? It's handy to have these to give picture folders some visual bling when browsing around, but it would be nice if they didn't show up as actual files.

  Digital Radio in XBMC
Posted by: mvallevand - 2012-12-29, 06:01 AM - Forum: Kodi / XBMC - Replies (6)

Does anyone have digital radio working in XBMC? When I try my QAM stations I just get the Working popup The logs show the streaming is taking place (although the MIME type might be off), but it does go to the radio protocol in xbmc

The NextPVR live URL passed to XBMC in a .strm file will play, so I suspect it is an XBMC PVR issue. My streams are AC3, which might be the cause so if mpeg audio is working that might give the xbmc pvr devs something to look at.

Thanks,

Martin

Need Help With Video File Types
Posted by: bdgbill - 2012-12-28, 04:16 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (8)

I am a fairly serious photographer so I'm pretty comfortable with issues like aspect ratio, resolution etc but have done very little with video. I spent most of Christmas day trying not to bash my head against my desk trying to do simple things with video files. I thought this may be a good place to look for some help.

I have a Canon DSLR, several canon compact cameras, a Samsung Nexus phone, a GoPro Camera (thanks Santa) an iPad (wife) and an iPhone (also wife). All are capable of shooting video. The software I bought for working with video is Adobe Premiere Elements. Premiere will not accept files from most of the equipment listed above. I found myself having to run my files through several pieces of software before editing to convert them into something that Premiere Elements will work with and sometimes after editing to convert them into whatever Flickr or YouTube wanted. By the end of Christmas day my head was swimming with codecs and file types and wrappers and I was more confused than ever.

My questions are:

1. Is there a single file type that can be read by almost anything and posted almost anywhere with a decent balance between file size and quality? Some of the files I made were 2 minutes long and over 200 meg!

2. Is there a converter that will convert almost any video file to that format?

3. Does Premiere Elements suck? Is there something better (free or not)?

I'm not looking to become the next Spielberg here. I just want to be able to trim and string together clips from various sources and be able to use the result on the maximum number of devices and websites.

Thanks

  Settings windows not rendering properly
Posted by: Clanky - 2012-12-28, 01:38 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (7)

When I decided to backup my recordings I saw that the appropriate buttons hadn't been rendered in the recordings window.
The same happens in other settings windows.
I don't remember changing any settings lately so I've no idea whats causing this.

Any suggestions on how to fix this woukld be appreciated Smile

Recording only on 2.2.6 - worth an upgrade?
Posted by: sheppy99 - 2012-12-28, 02:10 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (1)

I run NPVR 2.2.6 on a remote machine for recording only and access the EPG via web & iphone. Everything it does is scripted and it works well.
Is there any point in upgrading to a later version? It works flawlessly although the EPG on my iphone is very slow and not that good to navigate.

DVDs start with Aspect Ratio 4/3 but shoud be 16/9
Posted by: buribu - 2012-12-27, 10:45 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (11)

Hello sub,

I have a problem starting DVDs with the wrong aspect ratio: Every DVD I start begins with aspect ratio 4/3. When I set the AR (from Auto) to Auto in the right-mouse-button-context-menu, the display changes to the correct size. It seems that NextPVR knows the correct AR but doesn't set it at the start of the DVD. I think, the same problem was already mentioned at the end of the thread http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...pect+ratio

My settings for TV Shape is 16/9, my default Mode for Aspect Ratio is Auto, because I have DVDs with AR = 4/3 and 16/9.

I attach a logfile where you can see, that the DVD starts in 4/3 and when I set the AR to Auto in context-menu, the AR changes to 16/9.

  xbmc Pi build questions
Posted by: steeb - 2012-12-27, 10:41 PM - Forum: Kodi / XBMC - Replies (48)

Hi all,

before I embarrass myself over at xbmc etc I wondered if I could ask some advice? I do realize that this may be better posted over on another forum but this being the most friendly forum I feel more at home Big Grin

I am a Windows bod at total heart and practice and don't really get Linux or how to solve issues with it.

I have managed to install OpenElec r12755 from a .img onto my SD card and get that to boot xbmc on my Pi.

That build included NextPVR add-on v 1.2. by default.

After setting up everything as I think is correct the NextPVR LiveTV option is available and I can see the channels (EPG).

But when I select a channel I do not get any video display even though xbmc thinks it is playing it. (i.e. doesn't crash or anything)

I wondered if this was an mpeg issue so bought a license for MPEG2 but that has not made any difference.

As addendum I wondered if it should be possible for me to see the Pi via the Network Browser in Windows? That would make it easier to add/change/access logs etc rather than having to remove the card and put back into card reader? Have I perhaps got some settings wrong in xbmc config that are not allowing me to do this? My Router sees the device fine!

Thank you all, any advice most appreciated.

cheers

steeb

LCN & rights issues on scan
Posted by: zeflash - 2012-12-27, 09:01 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (7)

Hi,

I've been testing nextPVR as a backend for XBMC and it seems to have a great potential; mainly because apparently it's the first app I've seen that takes in account the LCN sent by the cable provider!

I'm in France, and I had to create my own cable tuning file as the provided ones weren't accurate (half the frequencies are ending with 125K, the other half with 325K).
Anyways, it worked fine the first time, and it even got the correct channel numbers, which is a first for me.

Sadly, some channels weren't checked in the list after the scan completed, and I didn't really understand how it was supposed to work on the first try, so I ended up deleting all channels and started a new scan over.
This time, I ended up with multiple frequencies showing up on the same channel slots; for example I have two channels at LCN 1 to 15, sometimes even three or four on the same channel number. And I can't figure out why it does this now, or didn't do it earlier.

Furthermore, the original problem also has me puzzled; When scanned, some channels aren't "checked". They are marked as encrypted, which I assume means that I don't have rights to watch. Except that for most of those I do. Some channels were not marked as encrypted and yet I don't have the rights on those.

Is there something I can do to help fix this?

Hauppauge 2250 IR Blaster Not Changing Channels
Posted by: dementia - 2012-12-27, 05:54 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (5)

I tried to install NextPVR as an alternative to Windows Media Center. I have a Hauppauge 2250 card, which came with an ir blaster and MCE Remote. I have a set top box which then goes into composite wires which plugs into my 2250 card. I was able to get NextPVR to download the EPG guide, set up the channels, and i can see audio and video.

However, when I attempt to change a channel via my keyboard, it does not work. I see no activity in the IR blaster attempting to change anything in my set top box, and the channel does not change, even though the OSD does.

I've attached my logs with my attempt to watch live tv, and change the channel.

Any advice will be appreciated.
