device setup - no channels found
Posted by: honeypotGlen - 2012-12-23, 06:14 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (17)

Hello ,

I'm new to nPVR. I have a Hauppauge internal dual tuner. Microsoft Media Center was able to recognise channels, but I get no channels when scanning in nPVR. nPVR found both tuners; a QAM and ATSC type on each. My log files are attached. My cable goes to a splitter; one half goes to the internet modem and wireless router, and the other goes to a settop box and then to the tuner card. The log files are attached. Why do I not get any channels?

  Channel Changes and Audio/Video issues
Posted by: rbmcgee - 2012-12-22, 10:24 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (4)

Hi all,

I'm made great progress with 2.5.9. I'm in the US and have directv (H20) feeding my Colossus card via HDMI for both video and audio. I use the hauppauge ir blaster to change channels. I'm on WinXP.

On the decoder screen I've got:
VMR9 custom
Default
Default
Disabled
Arcsoft video decoder
Disabled
AC3Filter
Disabled
Arcsoft Audio Decoder HD
Disabled

Checkmark - only use...

The only way I change channels is going back to the main TVGuide and choosing the show with the keyboard.

All of the channels work great (liveTV and recording) for both audio and video.

Here's the problem (live tv only, recordings work fine): I'm watching one channel and then I go back to the guide and choose a different channel. Sometimes this works fine and sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes the video stutters and there is no sound. If I go back to the guide and choose that channel again, everything works fine.

The way I figure it, the new channel uses a different mix of decoders vs. the prior channel and is initially causing a timing issue insofar as to when the "new graph" is "built". When I go back to the guide and re-choose the same channel, the timing issue is solved and the new channel plays fine.

Has anybody else seen this issue and is there a setting that I can adjust to solve this problem. I would rather not change any filters because after much monkeying, I've finally got the setup that works on every channel.

Thanks

  MVP 86001 and NPVR
Posted by: toomanyhandles - 2012-12-22, 09:31 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (2)

Hi all;

I have an older MVP that I could put back into use; goal would be liveTV, primarily.

Checking for status of these with NPVR, I see that there is a NPVR dongle, but setup section of the wiki is a to-do.

Checking the forum, I haven't found a setup post that uses NPVR directory schema, only for /devnz/gbpvr/ structure, and I see posts saying some folks have considered this a non-working device for a few years, others say it works for liveTV.

Does someone have setup info or a reference post that I've missed? A goal would be to have setup take less work than running coax cable into attic from basement and then down to a currently room currently without a coax line (house is all analog cable TV so far).

Thanks for thoughts!

[edit] ahh for some reason the "its really dead" series of posts from August didn't catch my eye, small laptop display perhaps. Sorry for the noise, off to get the drill bits : )

  New plugin - MovieTrailers
Posted by: imilne - 2012-12-22, 07:02 PM - Forum: Community Announcements - Replies (11)

I'm pleased to announce the release of MovieTrailers, a NextPVR plugin that allows you to watch a selection of trailers for new and upcoming movies. It supports playback in a variety of resolutions, from 360p (low quality) to 1080p (full HD).

You can download it now from its wiki page.

The plugin currently supports trailers from Apple iTunes Movie Trailers, streaming them instantly, and caching them locally for subsequent viewings. Obviously your internet connection must be fast enough to support this...back of the envelope calculations suggest each resolution requires the following minimum bandwidth:

- 360p - approx 1.5 Mbps
- 480p - approx 2.5 Mbps
- 720p - approx 6 Mbps
- 1080p - approx 10 Mbps

Future versions will likely support proper buffering of trailers, an alternative playback method based on whurlston's YouTube plugin, and background downloading of trailers. Note that (for now anyway) the Apple trailers feed only seems to update once a week at 9AM Monday, GMT.

For feedback and support, please use the 3rd party Plugins area of the forum.

  Deleteing folders with NFO files
Posted by: mvallevand - 2012-12-22, 04:00 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (8)

XBMC likes to have a a couple of NFO files that aren't named with the the recording name, tvshow.nfo and movie.nfo. Is there any way that NextPVR can be configure to remove a folder and contents if it only contains known list of files?

Unknown channels found - works on TV but NPVR cannot find them
Posted by: forzaKGB - 2012-12-22, 09:33 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (1)

Hi

I have switched cable-company and after a re-scan I cannot find all my channels. There are however Unknown channels listed and I suspect I have to edit the configuration files for scanning. But I do not know in what way...

Our new cable-company is called Ownit (www.ownit.se). This is the information I have from them regarding channel tuning:
Frequency: 418000 and above
SR: 6875
Modulation: 64 QAM
Net-ID: 100 (or auto)

I used all countries, all frequencies when scanning and you can find my npvr log-file attached. Would other logfiles also be of interest?

  NextPVR legacy Command Line Options

Does NextPVR support any of the old GBPVR -direct "XXXX" command line options found here?: http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Manua...ineOptions

I'd also like to know if it's possible to start NextPVR minimized.

Thanks!

  Custom Capture Device?
Posted by: Astraeus - 2012-12-22, 04:48 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (1)

Hi all,

A long shot here, but using a Raspberry Pi, I have created a custom network capture device, basically an external netstream like device.

I made a record.exe which basically takes a channel number and output filename and a start/stop command which then starts/stops the relevant recording to the relevant path

Is there any way I can use it with NextPVR?

  Wrong AC3 audio stream
Posted by: crossnet - 2012-12-22, 03:42 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (12)

One of our favorite QAM channels has its audio streams reversed. Our cable company has set the new “voice over” channel as the default (stream 1) and the normal audio is on stream 2. I am sure the signal has been reversed by the cable company. The audio is correct when the TV is connected to an antenna. But, it is reversed on this one channel when it's connected directly to the cable or operating with NPVR. I have tried different decoders and rescanning numerous times without success.

It seems there is little chance of getting the cable people to fix this. I can switch audio streams in NPVR, but with Comskip running, for some unknown reason it gets reset to stream 1 after every commercial. This is very annoying and the WAF is getting dangerously low.

Is there any way of editing the channel tuning data to fix this? If so, how do I access the tuning data? Also, does anyone know why Comskip resets the audio?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
