  Mixed resolution recordings?
Posted by: drbenjamin - 2012-12-10, 03:33 PM - Forum: nDroid - Replies (5)

Hey Brian
I've been using nDroid on my Kindle Fire HD and have come across a couple of issues. The one that seems reproducible is as follows:
I try to record HD shows at 720p to work with our NMT devices. However my set top box will sometimes reset itself to 1080i, and it can be a few days before I notice. So, my folders tend to have a mix of 720P and 1080i. What I've noticed is that nDroid is only presenting a subset of the shows in a folder and in at least 3 folders all the missing shows were ones that had been recorded in 720P. Any logs or additional tests that would be useful to you to help figure this out?
My other issue have to do w/ some files not playing, and I don't have that fully figured out yet so I'll post when I do.

Thanks again!

LiveTV Just...stops. Also, lots of buffering.
Posted by: smajor - 2012-12-10, 03:07 PM - Forum: Kodi / XBMC - Replies (8)

I've been experimenting with XBMC and have found that with NPVR 2.5.9 live TV behaves similar to what is happening here:

http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...ht=freezes

Except XBMC is much better at recovering and NPVR will recover too.

I'm using Frodo Beta 3 w/the included NPVR plug-in (observed it on Beta 2 as well.)

Occasionally, as reported by others, I see a ton of pauses in Live TV as XBMC struggles to keep the buffer full. This mostly happens with 1080 HD channels. I never see it in 480, and very rarely in 720 - I've tested both although I normally keep my STBs in 1080 mode constantly to avoid confusing my HDPVRs.

  live tv transcode broken?
Posted by: ScaryBox - 2012-12-10, 03:47 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (23)

Hey there UncleJohnsBand.

The latest build of NEWA (1.30) is great! I'm having a great time with it at home (within the home network) and no trouble with streaming outside the home network. I'm happily listening to music or watching recordings/movies at work or a friends house.

I just can't get transcoding of live tv to work. It looks like nRecord starts up but then ffmpeg crashes and I get a Windows message that says ffmpeg is not fully compatible with Windows 7 (this is just weird). Then the whole thing just stops and nREcord releases the tuner card. I've been through all the settings, tried updating ffmpeg with some other builds, reset everything to square one.

I need your expertise!
1) Is it possible the Shark Codec pack I installed could be causing a problem. (I'm suspicious of this, but removing it and resetting the codecs to default did not fix the problem)
2) Is it possible that something broke when you did the 1.30 update to repair the problems with streaming to vlc?

3) Is it possible that some of the transcoding settings (contained in the config.xml) are no longer valid?

4) I had a thought.....I wonder if the same settings used for streaming would work with the transcoding of live tv. Is there anyway to extract the string of settings/switches that ffmpeg uses when streaming so that I could insert them into the transcoding string in the config.xml??

Anything you could suggest would be great!

Thanks

Ken

nDroid - Somebody reported a crash report using Google Play - was it you?
Posted by: bgowland - 2012-12-10, 03:31 AM - Forum: nDroid - No Replies

Basically what the title says...my Android Developers console is showing a report with the following comment...

Quote:Failed to open folder look like it is timing out have over 250 Movies in Movie folder.
If it was you then please post here so I can get some extra information. Sorry but the Android Developers console doesn't give me much to work on which is why I need to get more info.

Cheers,
Brian

STB recording chopping of right side of picture, help!!
Posted by: jam_zhou - 2012-12-10, 12:46 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (4)

So I'm starting to record from my stb finally!! I got some of the blasters working and I'm capturing from the s-video input of my HVR1800 things look ok but the picture is cut off on the right hand side. It looks like the picture is coming in as 16:9 but the capture card is only taking it as 4:3 but instead of shrinking it's cropping. I've tried it on two different boxes both with the same result.

Any insight?

This system is win 7 x64 with npvr 2.3.6.

Thanks.

No video or audio on any channel live or recorded
Posted by: typoknig - 2012-12-09, 09:33 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (6)

I just installed my HDHomeRun Prime box. In the HDHomeRun Prime configuration NextPVR is selected as the main application. I can watch TV just fine from the HDHomeRun Quick TV application and can watch and record TV from Windows Media Center.

In NPVR under "Settings -> Devices" I have 9 entries, ATSC, QAM, and HDHR for tuners 0, 1, and 2. ATSC and QAM detect no channels during a scan, but HDHR detects 269 channels. In the same dialog the server name is set to the name of my computer which is "MAIN" and database share is set to "\\MAIN\Users\Public\NPVR" which is shared to everyone.

Under "Settings -> Misc" my buffer directory is set to C:\TV and when I try to watch live tv a file will be created in this directory, but it is always 0 bytes in size.
Under "Settings -> Recording" the default recording directory is set to "C:\Recorded TV". When I try to record a channel a file is created in that directory, but it is always 0 bytes in size.
Under "Settings -> Decoders" I have tried every combination of renders and decoders but I always get the same result, no video or audio for live or recorded tv.

I have been messing with this for 2 days now and I'm at a loss. Any direction would be appreciated.

Not many TV channels detected. :-(

Hi,

I've just installed NextPVR as I'm moving away from MCE to XBMC.

I've installed the nPVR client and searched for channels under device setup, but it only finds 22 out of the 70+ under MCE - and its the five main UK channels that are missing.

Have I missed something?

(Im running W7, the TV card is a USB DVB-T PCTV 80e)

  New (extra) Recording Type.
Posted by: hvannieu - 2012-12-09, 05:33 PM - Forum: Wishlist - No Replies

Hello Guy’s,

I have the following question.

Feature request question:
------------------------------
new recording type: based on channel name, show name and a check if description text does not already exist in database before recording is really starting.

Explanation:
There are channels with a lot of repetitions of TV programmes, like the Discovery channel. The name and time of the new TV programs are the same as the programs already broadcasted. It would be very nice if there is an option to only record new TV programs, and not the repetitions of the already shown broadcast.

I think it can be made possible with an extra (new) recording type based on the already recording methods, but with a check before recording start. I think that normally the TV programs are scheduling based on channel, name and time?
With this new option the same can be done but before the scheduling really starts to record the TV program, it would check the database if there is already a broadcast recording with the same name (title) and the same description. If there is no existing TV program with the same title and description the recording can start, otherwise the recording will not start to prevent double recordings of the same TV program. Can you check if this is possible?

Recording type: New Shows (based on channel, title and description).
To make it easy the available tuner (recording device) is claimed also if the recording is not started when the TV program is already in the database.

The scheduling can also be displayed in the TV guide but maybe with a other colour?
Perhaps the TV programmes that are a repetition of the original broadcast can have another colour as well?
------------------------------

I hope someone can make this very nice feature.

Best Regards,

Hugo

Moved from WinXP to Win7 x64 - Wakeup.bat does not work any longer
Posted by: hoborg - 2012-12-09, 12:12 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (23)

Hi.
I moved from WinXP to Win7 x64. By some reason, Wakeup.bat does not work any longer, it simply does nothing.
Acording the log, it is executed:

Code:
2012-12-09 12:56:16.113 [DEBUG][7] Starting: C:\Users\Public\NPVR\Scripts\Wakeup.bat 2012-12-09 12:56:17.513 [DEBUG][5] cycling MVP servers

Inside is simple

Code:
C:\NPVR\NextPVR.exe

But npvr doesnot start. Not even the process in task manager.

If i run it manually, npvr start, the path C:\NPVR\NextPVR.exe is correct.
I just want to start npvr automatically after wakeup.

What can be wrong? Resuming on Win7 is really fast, can here be a possible problem? Maybe it need to wait some time before NextPVR.exe is executed?

Ideas?
