I am trying to archive a couple of files from a client because I forgot to set the folder at record time but the popip doesn't activate. I do have the config.xml setting for it. In this snippet I moved item hit return on Archive waited and closed the client

This has happened several times with many versions of NPVR.
Using MC2XML and TVListings add-ons too.

Here's what I have determined that causes this.

Start with a nice working installation. Map XMLTV sources for each channel. Use individual mapping or bulk mapping. To keep it simple, let's say there are three channels in the pull down lists for channels when mapping. Everything works just fine and program listings are shown.

One day the guide fails to show the TV listings for one or more of the channels.
A look at bulk map shows everything is mapped.
A look at each individual one shows lost mapping for those channels without guide information.

What has happened is that the pull down list of channels now has more channels listed. If the original second one in the list has added a sub channel, or a completely new channel has appeared between the original second and third channels, the mapping for the original third channel is lost.

If the list were longer, say 10 original channels, with the above change, original channels 3-10 lose their mappings.

To fix this requires editing each channel and re-establishing the mapping. Using the bulk map feature will not fix it.

Is it NPVR or the add-ons use of the XLMTV data? I haven't removed the add-ons to determine this.

I now seem to have “Avoid Duplicate Recordings” working as I have checked it works if a duplicate is in “Recently Deleted”, “Existing Recordings” or “Pending Recordings” list. However I have just found a case where a recording is scheduled where there is an existing recording with the same name and ID. The reason seems to be that they were on different channels because if I edit the channel of the existing recording to be the same as the “new” recording it is detected as a duplicate. This case was easy to detect as it was a single programme I had watched so knew the repeat on another channel should be a duplicate.

Sub, in another thread you mentioned an issue in the duplicate detection logic which I didn’t fully understand but I thought that you inferred that duplicates on different channels was handled. Looking at my “Ready Recordings” list I have quite a few programmes that were recorded from more than one channel.

Hi, I only use NPVR to watch TV no recording, dvd, videos, etc. My issue is that sometimes I open a word document and the TV freezes for a couple of seconds and also the audio dephases from the video.

Is there a way of changing some setting so TV playback is improved?

I must say I am very impressed with this amazing software -- I have been testing it extensively over the past six weeks and am almost ready to deploy NPVR as my 100% replacement for SageTV.

A few final questions:

1. Is there a "jump to" or "go to" command that would allow me to jump to a specific time point in a recording while it is playing?

2. Is it possible to add more information to the pop up OSD display -- such as the original channel that a recording was made on -- some times I record the same high definition program from both Satellite and Over The Air ATSC -- and I would like to see which I selected for playback by showing the channel number / name on the OSD?

3. Are there any options to adjust color and contrast during playback from within NPVR or is this limited to a setting in the video decoder -- the reason I am asking is that not all decoders have color / contrast controls -- or in my case the Cyberlink decoder that I am now using for MPEG decoding will not allow color / contrast adjustments in VMR9 mode which is my preferred renderer. Are there any other options for color / contrast controls outside the video decoder? I do not want to adjust the physical color / contrast settings on the TV as it is already calibrated for correct playback for all other media sources

4. Will older plugins that were made for GPBPVR work for NPVR -- such as a plugin I am interested in testing -- call display

I installed ityesterday and it worked fine until tonight when it said it had an unhandled exception and crashed. I tried restarting the service with the same crasha nd unhandled exception. I also rebooted the computer several times with same result. My logs are attached.

After some recent messages I thought it was passed time I had a look at what XBMC could do that makes it so good it gets such glowing reviews.......

As I have very limited time right at the moment, first off I thought I would have a read about it's features & requirements on the XBMC web site only to find that while it has been around since 2003 the web pages are very lacking in any real description about what it can do, none of the front gallery screenshot (without opening each page fully) really do all that much for me & as for requirement to run & configure it they are completely non existent. I decided that now is not the time for me to start playing with something that could (probably will) take ages to figure out how to setup...... so basically a lost user who may or may not get back to looking at it again at some later date.

I then though it might be worth having another look at the main NextPVR web page with these observations in mind & while the description etc. is a lot better there are also no real requirements stated & the little bit sub puts at the top of the release thread while OK for upgrading is really lacking for new users not knowing where to start.

Also if we are going to include screenshots for plugins who chose what plugins to include & which not to include?? I personally think all the plugins should be included as they all add to the overall project.

I've used GBPVR for ages and it has been great - now updated to NPVR and I can't figure out how the EPG works. I'm probably getting to old (oh no it even says "Senior Member")

My setup is:
DVB-T
DVB-S2
dual tuner DVB-T2 & DVB-S2

I've scanned all and got 1472 channels. I will delete the ones I don't want in the channel list or device setup.

So then I have duplicate channels - one for each tuner type?

eg my first 6 channels are all "Channel 4"

When I update EPG, I get a good epg for the DVB-T list (over a days worth) and little for the DVB-S and it seems to be trying each channel - is that normal? I don't know how the EPG arrives, it looks like for T its one blob of data and for S is data per channel.

Anyway getting to the point.
How do I set it up so that:
a. In the TV guide there are not 6 "channel 4" but just 1 BUT all any tuners channel 4 will be used depending on tuner use.
b. Can I set the TV Guide that is showing the listing for DVB-S OTA EPG so it uses the EPG from the OTA DVB-T listing.

I'm not sure how the mapping works from actual tuner channels to TV guide and what tuners get used for the same channels.

Previously I used XMLTV and I could map a channel to the xmltv listing channel, I see I can do that in the bulk map dialog but there seems no way to map the OTA guide.
Am I right in guessing that:
1. if I delete channels from the channel list it only affects what is shown in the TV guide but any tuner with the channels can be selected as per the tuner priority scheme.
2. if I delete channels from the device setup list then they will go from the TV list but they will also not be available on the tuner for use. That is I may end up with 1 tuner only for "channel 4" whereas deleting from the channel list 1 still have all tuners for channel 4 but 1 TV listing.

Sorry for the log winded but I'm sure it will help other numpties like me
