No Auto Record from Local NEWA but OK from Remote
Posted by: jksmurf - 2012-08-27, 12:17 PM - Forum: NextPVR Enhanced Web Admin (NEWA) - Replies (7)

Hi UJB,

I noticed that a show was not autorecording (since the last patches) went into local NEWA and forced the search in Config and it did not show up.

When I did this on the Remote NEWA it worked and found the show, which then showed up in the local one????

Brand New Hauppauge card controller not working
Posted by: divinehammer - 2012-08-26, 03:30 AM - Forum: Hardware - No Replies

I recently bought a brand new hauppauge HVR-1150 TV Tuner card and the card seems to work however I have tried two different 45 button controllers and two different IR Receivers. None of which allowed the controller to do anything to NPVR or WinTV. I know that they were working before when I was using my PVR-150 card. Are there any special tricks I might be missing here?
One weird thing was that the IR receiver cable that came with the card only has the receiver and no blaster?? my old receiver cord has the blaster attached. This is running on Windows 7 32bit also.

Step back when playing after FF
Posted by: bgowland - 2012-08-26, 01:13 AM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (5)

Virgin Media upgraded us to a TiVo when we moved house a couple of weeks back. One nice little feature it has is when resuming playback after FF it seems to attempt to adjust position backwards to compensate for human reaction time.

In other words, when I fast-forward through adverts and see the programme start again and hit Play, it actually resumes playback from a few seconds before the point where I hit Play. Basically if I'm fast enough I just get the last second or 2 of the last advert and then the programme starts without missing any dialogue etc.

Would this be possible to implement with NextPVR? Thinking about it perhaps also Martin might comment as I generally only use npvr with the PCH.

Cheers,
Brian

  Fast Forward that feels "fast"
Posted by: gcm - 2012-08-25, 10:29 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (7)

Hi,

I've tried a few windows based PVR/HTPC software programs like MCE, Media Portal, XBMC and now NextPVR. Until now XBMC is the only one that has a perfect user experience when fast forwarding. With perfect user experience I mean the smoothness with wich XBMC does all this. Only with x8 speed I begin to see skipping of frames. x2, x4 the video is just played back faster but still smooth.

Ever since I've seen XBMC this fast forward thing has become an obsession for me. Pressing the ff buttton in Media Portal or NextPVR doesn't do much good as only making playback jerky. Therfore the feature is useless to me. I do use skipping instead.

I am aware XBMC is probably written in C/C++ and has it's own buildin codecs and therefore has more "power" than any software program that has to go through the .NET runtime but I'm wondering if the same experience like XBMC can be achieved on the .NET platform. Or am I the only one seeing this behavior because my hardware is just not powerfull enough. (sandy bridge i3 2100)

All things beside. I do like to see how fast I'm forwarding (x2, x4 x8) when I press the ff key on the remote. I was unable to find any OSD while ff-ing in NextPVR. Or am I missing something?

New transponder list for "Netherlands - Ziggo - Limburg.brabant"
Posted by: gcm - 2012-08-25, 09:22 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (6)

Hi all,

My fist post on this forum and it isn't even a question Wink

I've decided to give NextPVR a spin. It didn't take long before I discovered that I did not find all the expected channels while doing a scan. This is because the tuning file for my area is not up to date. I use "Netherlands - Ziggo - Limburg.brabant.ini" that can be found in Users\Public\NPVR\Tuning\DVB-C. The other Ziggo ini files are probably not up to date as well since Ziggo made a lot of changes a while back.

I've managed to put together a new file that does find every available channel for other people like me living in the Ziggo 1111 area. For other people in other Ziggo areas who want to do the same thing as I did, you can find the correct frequencies on http://www.digitalekabeltelevisie.nl/tec...home.shtml. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure out how to alter the existing .ini file to make it work.

It would be nice if my updated file will end up in the next release. I hope this is of any use to someone else in the future. Please let me know.

NPVR not responding to Hauppauge remote
Posted by: fluffykeith - 2012-08-25, 06:33 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

Hi

I have a couple of Hauppauge WinTV NOVA cards (3 cards but removed one) and was using the remote succesfully with GBPVR (with one of them). I've now installed NPVR but the remote no longer works although it did respond to pause and stop when playing a ripped dvd from the video library.
I could not remove the old gbpvr install as it wanted the original msi file which I can not find after so many upgrade, I only kept the latest version. So I disabled the recording service and just installed NPVR.

I have windows XP and I see the WinTV IR app sitting in the tray area. (is that used? could it be consuming the IR messages?)

cheers

Keith
