After about 2 1/2 years, my system power supply failed and apparently took out the motherboard. Don't yet know about the hard drives. So, having to start over, and for the first time in a long, long time, I have no recorder. Withdrawal is bad. If the drives are damaged, as well, I will probably go into a deep, dark depression, and the next question will not be necessary.
Anyway, hoping that the drives are okay, I'm thinking about maybe doing it a little differently this time - maybe setting up a media server PC with gigabit Ethernet to the living room where I would have some device or other to play videos, etc. Of course, that may require a gigabit switch and router, too, since I would like to be able to control the server from my laptop wirelessly via Remote Desktop.
Anyone have any suggestions or want to point me in the right direction? All my expertise has been the other way.
How does one create and use multiple parallel lists in the same screen like in the Search screen? What strings do you pass in for the constructor 'elements' to specify one of the multiple lists (usually "View" and "Item" when there is just one list)?
This is the on thing that STV doesn't do and Tivo didn't do when I had it before STV. I loved using it on my dad's old projection TV years ago.
This is one wish that would be cool!
Picture In Picture with Swap!
My computer decided to enter sleep mode at 7:32 tonight while a recording was finishing. With padding it would end at 7:32 and perform post processing which it wasn't able to complete. The following 4 recordings afterwards never woke the system up to record and were missed. The last one started to record once I remotely woke it via LogMeIn.
My windows system event log just says system idle.
This problem has probably always existed on my system as I have not changed anything, but now have a better handle on what it should be recording now.
I did a brief search for this and didn't find anything offhand.
I can't confirm positively but have folks seen the case where scheduled recording that is cancelled, still ends up waking a PC in standby mode? I would have thought that if I cancelled an upcoming recording, then my PC went into standy/sleep. It should not wake up for that scheduled recording?
Does NEXTPVR on a cancelled recording end up reverting some Windows entry to remove the scheduled tasks? I'm running Windows 7 and couldn't seem to find any Next PVR schedule recording tasks. But I don't know how it works for NExtPRVR to wake up a PC for scheduled recording events.
Sorry I don't have an exact logs; but if it should not do this or not a known issue, then I'll plan on trying to reproduce and provide logs.
We really enjoy the picture screen saver in nPVR 2.4.4, especially when listening to music. I have a large picture library in multiple folders and I was wondering what the logic is for displaying the pics.
Does it select a folder at random and then a random picture from each, or does it follow some other pattern? Does it repeat the sequence each time it starts?
I have just recently built a new box with very modern specs and nPVR works great for both recording Analog and QAM digital TV. I decided to take my old HTPC box that is running Windows XP, SP3 and upgrade it to the newest version of NextPVR (it had previously been running GBPVR). This older machine is running a Pentium Dual Core E4500 at 2.2 GHz, 2GB of memory and an ATI Radeon AGP X1300 Video Card, with a Hauppauge HVR1600 and 2 PVR-150's. Due to a combination of Windows XP, old hardware limitations and the graphics card, I was only able to get Digital Recordings to record and play back smoothly using VMR9 FSE with the Hauppauge supplied MainConcept decoder. If I try any other Video Playback mode the CPU utilization shoots up to 50 - 80% for one recording or playback, which causes horribly choppy digital playback. In VMR9 FSE, CPU utilization stays under 10%. My problem is that I can't get the On-Screen-Display to display at all while in VMR9 FSE mode. Sub, or anyone, is there anyway to get the OSD to display in VMR9 FSE when using NextPVR? I know that this video renderer mode worked great and displayed the OSD perfectly fine on this box when I was running GBPVR. Thanks.
