Oaky guys, real new here so be kind... I've read through many of the threads but questions still arise
I've been a SageTV user for a long long time, before that BeyondTV both now defunct. With SageTV I love the HD200/300 extenders, they just work. I have one PC client which works for what it is intended giving Internet access in our family room and recorded playback.
I live in a Time Warner world and from what I understand they encrypt all HD content (except local channels, CBS, NBC, etc.) so it may be viewed only on the local device. I believe the exception to this is Windows Media Center and Xbox solution which I am not in favor of - Xbox is just too big for an extender.
I've played with the NextPVR backend which is very nice and easy to use and it is workable for my uses, we only watch recorded shows, pictures and music on the extenders, live TV is done with the TV.
Server is not an issue, Windows 7 4GB quad core machine, with 4TB of storage, 7 tuners. It will handle 4 HD recording and 3 analog recording with comeskip running on all and never break a sweat. I'm looking intently at the DCR-2650 (2) or a Ceton InfiniTV4 for digital source, prefer the internal solution. Cable Card is okay, do not what any set top boxes.
I looked briefly at the Popcorn Hour series of client boxes but do not know which is the better, I've seen mention of A-100/110 but not much on the A-200/210 and hardly nothing on the A-300 or C-300. Which is best?
Switching to NextPPR backend I have some questions.
Does NextPVR support the Ceton InifiniTV4 or the DCR-2650 natively, i.e. no additional software?
What to use as an extender much like the HD200/300? (At most locations I prefer not to go the PC route.)
Will I be able to view the HD recorded shows on the all extender (remember is it TW)?
Using the Popcorn Hour box are there hoops to jump through to get it to work or are they just plug and play? (I am spoiled by the HD200/300.)
Is there any conversion from SageTV to NextPVR to keep watched status and favorites?
I am sure once answers are given more questions will arise...
I haven't seen the issue raised before, if it has been, please ignore.
I have 3 digital tuners each is dedicated to one mux. Since upgrading to 2.3.6 I have noticed this issue which had not occurred previously.
Here is the scenario...
Recording 2 programmes consecutively on the same channel (same tuner) each show has my default 2 min pre-padding and 5 min post-padding
The first show stops recording 7 minutes after the second show starts
When watching the second show, at about the 7 minute mark, the video pauses for about 20 seconds, the audio continues to play normally
When playing the file with Media Player Classic, the pause in the video is much shorter but time-stamp jumps forward about 20 seconds then stays the same for 20 seconds then continues to advance
This behaviour is the same with all 3 tuners/muxes
Here is a sample video file (40MB) with the pause at one minute
I am watching a channel, I decide I want to record that programme while I carry on watching. Is there a way to simply start recording or do I have to stop watching, go to to the recordings screen and schedule a manual recording to start asap.
It would be nice if you could simply right click and record.
I'm in the US and I have an OTA antenna my HDHome run is found and I can run a channel scan, but it will not come up with any channels on the list. How can I remedy this?
I have successfully installed NPVR over Windows XP and got my Angel TV tuner detected with Canada channels scanned and apparently correctly listed. Now when I select any of them, the NPVR screen stays black. Could you help me ?
This is a problem I have been having for a while, especially on long recordings like movies (1 hr shows seem unaffected), and almost exclusively on FTA channels. I always use a PCH-A100 to watch them, almost never on the PC.
What happens is this:
Comskip autoskips works very well for the first few skips, then stops working.
The status bar (when I press the blue button on the remote) is green up to the cuts and gray to the end of the show, except where the comskip cuts are shown as black bars, all as it should be.
At the same time as it stops working, when pressing the blue button, I note that the green progress bar goes green ALL THE WAY to end, even though I am only part way through the show.
The attached logs might not show much as it happened last night. I will try and capture a long one again if I watch a movie.
My cable company has really been messing with QAM, but thankfully they still have analog versions for most channels and I can still record / time shift when I need to on the nearly ancient HVR-1600.
I am running Win 7 32 bit home premium, but somehow MCE is not seeing that HVR1600 now. Worked when I first installed Win7, but now it is gone wacky. Tried to fix it, but I think it may take an OS reinstall.
With the new F1 season starting this weekend, I needed a working DVR...fast!
Haven't used my old 1.4.7 install in about six months, or more. Would it save me?
All I had to do was run mc2xml on a command line, go into gbpvr and tell it to update the EPG.
Voila! Was able to time shift two F1 practice/qualifying sessions with no problems! Playback was as smooth as silk.
Thank you, sub, for creating even this "oldie", which still works for many of us!
This problem is killing my npvr, I'm losing half of my recordings to this problem and I'm stumped. I had this problem for a while so I wiped my pc and reinstalled and I'm still getting the same problem, I thought it might be related to the pc sleeping but today I had it set to record the race and the pc was busy seeding a race torrent so it hasn't and won't sleep all weekend and I still lost the recording to this message. I have all the latest patches including the cumulative skip patch installed. LOgs attached.
It may seem wierd to use an Android tablet with Ethernet but that is what I do with my Transformer Prime via anEthernetto USB connector. This is for the sole purpose of streaming uncompressed OTA HD video captured from Npvr to the tablet. Works great, just disable WiFi, connect it up an it works. Want to stream live tv too so nDroid is perfect. Only issue is it seems to only work over WiFi or mobile? Could you make it work with Enet?
