Check your PayPal, I'm sending you a donation.

With my wife FINALLY employed again after a long, long stretch (US job market sucks), I can finally manage to send something your way. It's long overdue.

  NPVR startup in windows 7
Posted by: marc - 2012-03-17, 11:27 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (9)

I know this has got to have an easy answer but I can't find it amongst the similar on the web. (I have just upgraded to windows 7 so all a bit unfamiliar)

I want NPVR to start and be ready to use from remote control when I turn the PC on. I have put a shortcut to NPVR in the startup folder and the program starts fine but it is not in focus (has the toolbar on top) so the remote won't control it. Is there an option I need to set somewhere or do I need to start the program by a different means?

Thanks

  Part time encrypted channels
Posted by: Elmo Putney - 2012-03-17, 11:16 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (7)

I've got some channels on 19.2 deg that run part time encryption, I can watch them with DVBViewer but if I try with NPVR it just tells me they are encrypted. I guess the encrypted flag is set when it's scanned so NPVR refuses to try. Is there any way I can un-set the encrypted flag - it was easy in GBPVR but in NPVR do I need to go into the SQL database?

2.2.5 Installation hosed - windows update?
Posted by: psycik - 2012-03-17, 09:26 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (6)

Did some updates this morning, it had a couple to do (9mb) is was pretty up to date.

Later on today checking on some recordings and they'd failed. Was saying it couldn't access the recording service. Gave it a restart, and trying to record or live tv I get a DVB error (I may not be able to get the logs now have tried a few things in restoring) but essentially saying cuold start, or the capture device does exist.

Edit, managed to get the logs.

  DVD wont play newer dvds
Posted by: spotty - 2012-03-17, 05:35 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (3)

Hi,
Ive noticed lately most of the newer DVDs aren't recognised by my computer. I have been borrowing a USB DVD rom which will read all the disks.
Now, thinking the problem was my old DVD rom couldnt read the copy-protection of the new disks, I bought a new internal DVD rom.
To my surprise it has the same problem.

Doe anyone know what might be causing this?

Thanks

NB still using GBPVR

  No video
Posted by: ABJ - 2012-03-17, 05:27 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (4)

I may have broken the "If it isn't broken, don't fix it" rule. GB-PVR was running fine on my Windows 7 PC with an ATI TV Wonder 650 PCI tuner (S-video input). But I decided I needed more room on my C: partition and so enlarged it and re-installed Windows 7. When GB-PVR was re-installed, I had audio but no video. I decided now was the time to upgrade to NPVR. Same thing - audio, but no video. I've tried different video renderers but nothing makes a difference. Any suggestions on what to try next? (I can supply logs if required.)

How long does your EPG update take?
Posted by: bgowland - 2012-03-17, 02:03 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (6)

Just curious and looking for rough figures.

I only have 28 channels enabled for 4 identical DVB-T capture sources and use a single XMLTV file (no broadcast EPG data). Looking at recent logs, it takes anything from 50 seconds to 1 minute 10 seconds each morning for the npvr automatic EPG update to do it's thing.

Obviously other people have more complex setups with more channels, a mix of capture sources (terrestrial, satellite, cable etc) and possibly use a mix of XMLTV files and broadcast EPG data scans.

I'm just wondering what length of time it can take to perform a daily EPG update.

Cheers,
Brian

  Where to specify decoders?
Posted by: Graham - 2012-03-16, 06:19 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (8)

There was a section in the GBPVR config.xml that listed the decoders that could be used for this and that. It was the subset of the listed decoders that were installed on a 'puter that was presented as options in the config.

I can't find the equivalent list in NPVR. I want to try various decoders for he-aac for UK HD broadcasts. Currently the only options that I see are LAV and ffdshow (which are essentially the same).

I was hoping that I might be able to, for example, add Cyberlink to the list for he-aac and see what happens. Thanks.

PS. I can see why it might be a bad thing to have the hoi polloi (including me) faffing about with decoder experiments.

Anyone using Total Media 5's uMCEPlayer5.exe with a Hauppauge remote cotnrol?
Posted by: McBainUK - 2012-03-15, 11:35 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (10)

I can;t figure out what changes to make to the irremote.ini file in order to get all the buttons working. The main ones that don't work for me are the volume up/down.

Anyone got an irremote.ini section ready made?

Watch All / Watch All Unwatched
Posted by: PatM - 2012-03-15, 02:02 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (4)

I really miss this feature from Sage. You choose the recordings directory then when you play a file the options include watch all in directory or watch all unwatched in directory.
