  device not found
Posted by: Koala Kid - 2012-02-19, 01:55 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (7)

I have just upgraded to 2.3.6 version, while NPVR says the device [DBV-T DiCom BDA Digital Tuner] is present and enabled, with 40 channels and I can update the EPG without problems , when i try and view live TV it says the device is not found.
I have rebooted and it is the same. what am I missing??
I have used the program often in the past 18 months and it has worked well.

win 7 home 32bit , Toshiba satellite , with a Kaiser Boss usb tv digital tuner

Easier Procedure to renumber DVBT channels
Posted by: fuzzweed - 2012-02-18, 09:14 PM - Forum: Wishlist - No Replies

I like to renumber my channels to keep broadcasters together in the guide, rather then default DVBT channel numbers.
1) Can this be made easier by being able to directly enter channel numbers on the settings -> channels menu (and be able to tab through then), rather than bringing up a popup for each channel
2) And delete channel with del key would be useful too.

thanks.

  Skip Problem
Posted by: Graham - 2012-02-18, 05:17 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (244)

I have read dozens of posts and tried numerous combinations of decoders and I cannot fix this.

There is a delay of anything from 10 seconds to 2 minutes when I hit skip forward (or back) when playing a recording. The picture skips immediately (and freezes) but there is a random and variable delay before the audio starts and the picture unfreezes. It does not seem to be anything to do with the recording because I can play the same recording and get different results each time.

I have imported some GBPVR recording in msdvr format into the npvr recording database and these skip nicely using the same decoders as the npvr ts files that do not skip nicely.

I have tried combinations of the Windows 7 MS decoders, PDVD 12, ffdshow and LAV and any permutation gives me variable delays.

I would welcome any suggestions that I could try.

Thanks

Graham

Channel 5 - device scan not finding it?
Posted by: sfag - 2012-02-18, 10:44 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (5)

I'm finding all the other UK freesat channels but none of the 'five' channels.
Any idea on how to find these or how manually add them?

Refreshing TV Guide Data (after System plugin EPG update)
Posted by: imilne - 2012-02-18, 09:32 AM - Forum: Developers - Replies (13)

Sub, it's been mentioned in a couple of places that the System plugin needed to call:

Code:
EventBus.GetInstance().Notify("RELOAD_RECORDINGS");

to force a refresh of the guide data after it runs a manual EPG update. Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to work as expected, and the guide stays empty of data. However, if you exit NPVR, or even just start Live TV, then it populates.

What does work though, is calling RELOAD_SETTINGS (with or without the above call).

I was just wondering if this was expected behaviour? Should I hold out on a fix that would let RELOAD_RECORDINGS work, or is there no harm in letting it do the full settings reload?

a perm crash when I use 'manage recordings'
Posted by: PulseField - 2012-02-18, 04:49 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (30)

Two days ago I was in a hurry to record Mary Tyler Moore. The epg failed to load, so I went and set the thing to do it manually.
NPVR started to record the show. Then it suddenenly failed after a partial recording. Now I cannot access via the webserver the recordings. If I try, the thing just sends an error. Tonight I went into NPVR directly without the webserver. Programmed it to record the same show as recurring. That seemed to work. Result? The computer sat there at 7PM and wasnt doing anything. Do I have to delete and reinstall NPVR yet again?
I would guess the problem is that this software is Java. Java always fails. Its slow as frozen snot. It crashes every 2 seconds. Why do people bother with Java?
The only thing written in Java that ive ever seen that works is Firefox.
That is also slow, but at least it more or less, works.
Firefox only crashes once in awile. That is better than all the time, for no reason.
It isnt my computer. Ive switched off from one computer to another newer one for years. Java is always a problem. It never, ever, works in a reliable fashion and is always slow. There is a new invention... its called 'C'. Fast as hell and doesnt crash for no reason.
Sorry, but I have missed so many programs on TV using this software, that Im about ready to say screw HDTV dolby 5.1 and go back to plain old fashioned video tape.
At least when I program that to record, it records. No if ands or buts. Crappy video quality as it is.
It really shouldnt be uber rocket science to command a card to start recording. I will stop complaining now. Then uninstall, delete the entire folder to NPVR. Then reinstall hoping that will fix the thing.

  Sleepy web-service?
Posted by: bgowland - 2012-02-18, 02:18 AM - Forum: NextPVR Enhanced Web Admin (NEWA) - Replies (10)

This isn't really a major issue but I'm curious...

When I set/cancel a recording from my phone using nDroid and haven't done so for a while, it seems like the NEWA web-service takes a while to 'wake up' and it takes a while before the nDroid service gets a result to pass back to my phone. If I then submit another schedule / cancel request the response is pretty much immediate.

Example for two episodes of Scrubs...

This is the nDroid service HTTP listener receiving a record requestfor the first...

Code:
[B]18/02/2012 01:12:53.328[/B] hrhkey.Key: x-ndroid-action hrhkey.Value: record
This is the nDroid service helper getting the data to pass to the NEWA webservice and the point where the result is returned...
Code:
18/02/2012 01:12:55.468 GetRequestedRecordingOid - sbQueryString: SELECT oid,channel_oid,start_time,title FROM EPG_EVENT WHERE EPG_EVENT.channel_oid = 7969 AND EPG_EVENT.start_time = '2012-02-18 01:50:00' AND EPG_EVENT.title = 'Scrubs' 18/02/2012 01:12:55.703 GetRequestedRecordingOid - oidString: 7589020 18/02/2012 01:12:55.765 GetRequestedRecordingOid - startString: 18/02/2012 01:50:00 [B]18/02/2012 01:12:55.843[/B] GetRequestedRecordingOid - weekdayString: Saturday [B]18/02/2012 01:13:18.078[/B] Result.webServiceEPGEventObjects: 18/02/2012 01:13:18.078 schedOid: 13204
So it takes ~2.5 seconds of processing from the time the listener receives the request until the helper makes the request to the webservice. However, it then takes the webservice just over 22 seconds to set the recording and return a result.

If I look at the second record request though I see a much faster response from the webservice...

Listener receives request...
Code:
[B]18/02/2012 01:13:28.765[/B] hrhkey.Key: x-ndroid-action hrhkey.Value: record
Helper performs the request and gets a result...
Code:
18/02/2012 01:13:28.781 GetRequestedRecordingOid - sbQueryString: SELECT oid,channel_oid,start_time,title FROM EPG_EVENT WHERE EPG_EVENT.channel_oid = 7969 AND EPG_EVENT.start_time = '2012-02-18 02:20:00' AND EPG_EVENT.title = 'Scrubs' 18/02/2012 01:13:28.812 GetRequestedRecordingOid - oidString: 7589021 18/02/2012 01:13:28.812 GetRequestedRecordingOid - startString: 18/02/2012 02:20:00 [B]18/02/2012 01:13:28.812[/B] GetRequestedRecordingOid - weekdayString: Saturday [B]18/02/2012 01:13:29.203[/B] Result.webServiceEPGEventObjects: 18/02/2012 01:13:29.203 schedOid: 13205
OK so that shows the nDroid service was also a bit sleepy the first time as it only takes 47ms between the listener receiving the request and and the helper performing the request. The big difference, however, is that it takes the web-service less than 400ms to set the recording and return a result.

As I said, it's not a major issue, I'm just trying to work out why the first request took so long.

Cheers,
Brian

  Can I add a MyMovies.xml to a library?
Posted by: psycik - 2012-02-18, 12:17 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (4)

So if I have a number of libraries, say the recordings and my other movies at two different libraries in the video library. I've figured out I can five them a picture by adding folder.jpp to the root directory.

But can I add a basic metadata file (so I can say what's in there, eg this has recordings, this has tv shows etc).

  No "Skip Back-10secs"
Posted by: OTAjunkie - 2012-02-17, 11:18 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (2)

I've lost the ability to skip back 10 secs using Ctrl+D.
I can't find it in the keyboard reference.
All other skip commands work.
Has something changed?

Thanks
