Which files are required to keep two installs of NextPVR on separate OSs in sync?
Posted by: OTAjunkie - 2012-02-16, 05:10 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (10)

Due to a recent hard drive failure I've reconfigured my system in a dual boot(this time using TWO physical drives!!) with two identical OSs and programs. Without a functioning HTPC I have no TV and I'd like to be able to recover from any future catastrophic failure by simply re-booting as opposed to recovering a dated back-up or going through another OS install sequence. I think it may be possible to keep the reserve OS's NPVR current by running nightly copy&replace batches. Is this possible and if so, which files are required to keep two installs of NextPVR on separate OSs in sync?

I thought about using one NPVR for both OSs but decided against it because of registry issues.
If someone could create a regedit file that I could merge to clear and point the new folders not on C: then I'd go that route.

Thanks

  Freesat EPG Channel Numbers
Posted by: NumberFive - 2012-02-15, 11:39 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (9)

Hi,

I've suggested similar before, but I would love there to be a mechanism for setting up Freesat* EPG channel numbers without having to do so manually.

If the broadcast cannot be decoded, perhaps the NPVR community could start a collection of XML files for services like Freesat that NPVR could interpret as channel names/numbers/tuning requests.

Just a thought. Smile

  Additional remote info from Wiki
Posted by: Grampz - 2012-02-15, 04:11 PM - Forum: NPVR Documentation - Replies (20)

I am impatiently waiting for the arrival of an HP usb ir receiver and MCE remote ordered from eBay. I have gotten the suggestion to purchase this $20 package, and customization/hack input from other threads. I foresee the possibility of many hours of learning, installation, configuration, and customizing of controls both in and outside of nPVR. The Wiki just describes the Hauppage 45 button remote.

I would like to see on the Wiki a simple, well thought out, and non geek speak approach for others to follow if they choose this option. I would like others input to help me with this setup, and help with documenting this approach for the Wiki.

Good/bad idea? Any takers?

Greg

  Music Box4 error
Posted by: Grampz - 2012-02-15, 03:23 PM - Forum: Add-ons (3rd party plugins, utilities and skins) - Replies (1)

Hey Martin..

May have found an error. I do not think it is related to my setup, as the app is working great! After cueing up songs, I go to the que. I wish to delete one by highlighting the item and pressing the delete key. I get an exception error. Clicking continue, everything progresses normally. The qued songs play properly bypassing the deletion. The deleted song remains in the visual listing, and what is playing and what shows currently playing are off by one..

  Position of Settings box.
Posted by: JP23 - 2012-02-15, 01:45 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (1)

Hi,

I'm not sure if this was introduced with the latest version, or slightly earlier, but I have noticed that when opening the settings box it now always appears on the display running NPVR.
Now every time I use it, I have to drag the box over from the TV to the monitor.

The settings box used to remember its last position, which allowed me to get into settings without even turning my TV on by starting NPVR, sending the mouse cursor over to the TV, right clicking and hitting 'S'

Is there any way to get the settings box to remember its position, or specify which display it appears on?

  TBS DVB-T2 cards.
Posted by: JP23 - 2012-02-15, 11:11 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (11)

Has anyone tried any of the TBS DVB-T2 cards?

I'm thinking of getting one of these http://www.tbsdtv.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=1500

Any reason to think they wouldn't work?

  Anamorphic Widescreen?
Posted by: mvallevand - 2012-02-15, 05:16 AM - Forum: General Discussion - No Replies

Last week I missed recording 2 Broke girls so I waited until later in the week when it appeared on demand. Typically the way On Demand works is the SD 4x3 one appears first and HD appears a few days later. I thought it looked "skinny" and viewing in fill was better then auto (it is marked 4x3) Today I checked the HD version and it looks more like SD fill. Do these sample look like my cable co is sending the 4x3 content as pseudo anamorphic? These are .ts clear QAM samples.

The pillar box is auto, the full screen is fill and the partial letter box is HD auto (on my 16x10 screen)

  npvr client with gbpvr server?

Will npvr setup as a client on my laptop talk to my gbpvr server? Can npvr recognize the gbpvr database? I've got a really old config and I don't want to give up the tv-out on my PVR350. :o

Newbie Problems With MyGica A680B on Win XP
Posted by: whitedavidp - 2012-02-15, 01:06 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (54)

Hello and thanks for your help. I have been using my USB TV Stick for antenna DTV use for some time now on my XP computer. I have used the included ArcSoft TotalMedia software with decent success. I can play live TV, record, and playback. But basically, this software and its support are not up to snuff. So I hope that NPVR offers a better solution.

I have downloaded and installed the most recent NPVR. At first the Settings->About indicated that DirectX wasn't being found. So I again downloaded and installed from MS and that issue seems fixed. One small step!

In settings->Devices I see an ATSC Device called Auvitek Dongle Digital Tuner which would seem to be the MyGica device. But when I have the channels scanned, I get only 5 channels on the physical channel 8. With TotalMedia, I get MANY more channels! I am telling it to scan all frequencies. So what is going on here?

David
