I'm trying to figure some stuff out, and have hopes that someone here might have some advice on what might work for my situation.
Background - I have been using NPVR for a long time, back to the GB-PVR days, with my WinTV HVR-1250 card installed in my main desktop computer in the den, recording clear QAM programs as a supplement to the Comcast DVR attached to the HDTV in the family room. I stream those recordings via TVersity (a DNLA server, if you aren't familiar with it) to the PS3 in the family room, and this has worked well for quite some time. I recently added the DCR-2650 cablecard tuner to my system in the hopes of replacing the DVR, not only saving the cost of the DVR, but putting the recordings under my control.
One thing I miss about recording on the DVR is having access to the show titles and summary, so I've been looking at what I can do in that regard. It looks like a XBox 360 is in my future, so this could be used as a Windows Media Extender to stream the files from my computer. I would prefer to continue recording using NPVR - I'm familiar with it, it works well, it records in ts format which is easier for me to work with in VideoReDo cutting commercials, and it allows me to record two shows at the same time with the HVR-1250 when things are on the same frequency.
So, I'm looking for a good method to get metadata to display in WMC. All the plugins and add-ons I have found for WMC need at a minimum filenames with SxxExx info. I have been experimenting a bit with Imagegrablite, but I haven't fully figured out what I need to do with the metadata and images there to use with WMC, and the fact that the renaming has been rather hit-or-miss so far, I'm not sure that is what I need. I've looked at a few other things, VidImport and GuidePlus, but I'm not sure if they are going to give me what I need, either. Most things, understandably, are geared towards viewing recordings with NPVR, so I sometimes get a little confused with it.
So, if anyone has suggestions, comments, or a full blown solution, I would certainly appreciate it.
When I try to play a DVD rip (VIDEO_TS) parent folder I get an "index out of range" exception. Presumably, this is why I am not able to play DVDs on my NMT A-110 (it doesn't even attempt to start playback): http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...lems/page2 . It would also be great if playback of the .dvd item would be supported from the NMT.
My Video Library does not display sub folders.
I've got three folders with media in each. All folders are shared and viewable in explorer but if I try to open them in NEWA all I get is the "Up one level" brackets.

Sorry to be posting something so basic, but how the hell are you all controlling volume?
I read posts about selecting between master vol and local (I can't find any such settings in misc2 or anywhere else). I read posts about using left and right (keyboard buttons), but I can't see any indication of anything happening when I do this.
I look up keyboard shortcuts, but there are none listed for volume - it just states for remote use Vol up and down. This does not work on my remote - unsurprising, considering I set up my remote through EventGhost, so it doesn't do anything I haven't told it to.
What I want to do:
Control volume (obviously) and mute, using keyboard and remote (I can set the buttons myself as long as I know what keyboard buttons to emulate etc). I also really want to volume to be local (ie not system volume) so that it doesn't affect the other apps which require sound out.
Obviously someone knows how to do some of this, unless everyone is watching TV with no sound! Any help appreciated...
I want my Colossus channel lineup to be identical to my HVR-1600 analog channel lineup but NPVR is assigning new channel numbers and telling the blaster to change to the channel that NPVR is assigning each station instead of using the actual channel of the station. What can I do to correct this?
Is it possible to have connections from 2 NMTs at the same time? I just get a blank screen which kicks me back to the NMT main screen after a while when trying to connect when there is already an existing connection.
I have an A-110 with the newest firmware and have the following problems:
1) I can't figure out how to play a DVD rip folder. If I either select the .dvd item or press Play on the parent folder nothing happens. Do I have to turn these into ISOs or MKVs?
2) I can't get DTS-HD or Dolby TrueHD passthrough from MKV via HDMI to work. I always get just plain DTS and DD. I have the newest firmware and have the HDMI audio settings of "DTS: DTS-HD (Raw)" and "Dolby: Digital (Raw). I am using the same HDMI connection that I just used for my PC which passes through both of these fine so it is not an AVR problem. Has anyone been able to get this to work?
3) If I play a TS recording and then an MKV with VC-1, the MKV plays back all pixelated and the playback won't go back to normal until I reboot the A-110. H.264 MKVs never seem to have this problem and the problem doesn't surface with VC-1 until I play back a TS/MPEG2 recording.
I am in the process of setting up an MCE compatible remote to manage both nPVR and my Win 7-64 HTPC. The remote I bought for a cheap $20 from eBay, included a usb ir receiver and is shown in the following pic. The button reference chart is included within a file attachment.

I wish to customize this remote and will take one issue at a time. I have gathered that the Win registry needs to be hacked to change some of the default commands sent by the remote and pc actions taken. I have downloaded an attachment from another thread which I will play with next...
First one... Within nPVR and pressing Live TV button.. nPVR goes to Live TV, but Win Media Center also loads and comes out on top of desktop. I need to disable any call to load Media Center without disabling nPVR built in registry commands.
Having a problem that i cannot fugire out. I think I have ports forwarded I am running Windows 7.
I have 8866 forwarded and 7647 7648.
