  Programs plugin request
Posted by: Grampz - 2011-11-30, 07:21 PM - Forum: Add-ons (3rd party plugins, utilities and skins) - Replies (2)

I wish to control my htpc strictly by using mouse commands. The Programs plugin allows this except for selection of the selected shortcut, which requires an enter press on the keyboard. should be a quick change in code, and goes back to consistencies in user interface that I brought up earlier. Thanks for the updates to TV Listings plugin, which is now completely mouse friendly!

Cyberlink TrueTheater HD alternate and ffdshow problem?
Posted by: ShiningDragon - 2011-11-30, 02:41 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (11)

Hi guys!

I am running Windows 7 on any machine (a very bad decision, if i consider that windows 7 prefers media foundation codecs instead directshow ones ...). I tried PowerDVD 11 and was very impressed at the TrueTheater HD options. Old SD material from 1967 looks really great with this one enabled!
But ... i don't like the PowerDVD app. And it's not funny to migrate with NextPVR. Often enough i just want to play a whole folder of my media archive and this is just no comfortable enough to relizie with PowerDVD inside NextPVR.

So i look for an alternate. I think, ffdshow could do partially this, what i want to replicate (TrueTheater HD) [COLOR="#D3D3D3"][strike]but ffdshow won't be loaded into the system. Everytime the Microsoft DTV decoders are preferred, even if i raise the merrit of the directshow ffdshow to the max.
This is really annoying! Microsoft DTV decoder is ok for most purposes, but often enough not ideal (e.g. if you're watching a dubbed video with subbed scenes, the microsoft one just don't honour them and don't show them).

How can i tell windows 7, that it HAS to use the selected directshow decoder, in this case ffdshow?

To be honest ... i am already thinking about to downgrade my mediacentre back to windows vista.[/strike][/COLOR]
Ok, the merit problem could be fixed with the "Win7DSFilterTweaker". Finally ffdshow is used for .h264 codecs.

So there's one problem left: how to replace/add/selfbuilt cyberlinks TrueTheater HD ... Big Grin

[Low Priority] Choosing Display Adapter for NextPVR Client
Posted by: ShiningDragon - 2011-11-30, 02:34 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (2)

A short one (but i don't know if it were easy to realizie). I wished, i could choose the display adapter used for NextPVR because i am using an Intel HD Graphics 3000 and a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 Ti with Lucid Virtu in d-mode on my system.
Of course i can put NextPVR to the apps which should be rendered by the iGPU, but because this is a virtualization not all features are available, especially because Lucid didn't optimized Virtu for NextPVR.
Problem: If i disable Virtu or remove NextPVR from the app list, the GeForce is used. I got often enough a black screen within the NPVR window. This is NOT a NPVR problem! If i enable Virtu and add NextPVR to the apps list, the the intel HD Adapter will be used, but many functions are just not working (like DXVA2 ... 20% cpu usage on an i5-2500K while playing back a sd mpeg is a bit funny, isn't it?)
So i just wish a dropdownmenu within the settingsscreen where i could set the graphics adapter which NextPVR should use.

But i know, not many people are using this combination, especially with NextPVR (5 ppl? 10 ppl? I don't believe that it's much more) so the priority is of course very, very low. But it would be nice. =)

Periodic max CPU usage by nRecord on Win7 Clean install
Posted by: Stuart_P - 2011-11-30, 11:09 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (15)

I upgraded to win 7 from XP a while back, but couldn't get everything to perform as well as on XP so I reverted back to XP until this weekend when I thought I'd give 7 and NPVR 2.2.6 another go.

I decided to use 'Tiny7' instead of my regular Windows 7 installation since it is so much smaller and hence loads faster etc.

Anyway, after checking and installing all the prerequisites and NPVR + the latest updates I was up and running, but a problem I'd not been able to solve last time I used win7 has appeared again.

nRecord.exe idles at 0%-1% CPU usage, but every 3-5 seconds it blips up to 50% (I've got a dual core CPU, so assume max on one core), then it falls back down to 1%. Task manager shows the memory allocated to nrecord changes as the CPU usage changes, but what is it doing, and why? It always idles at close to 0% on XP (same hardware). I've left it for several hours and the periodic CPU usage seems endless. I've tried stopping and restarting the service, stopping the tray icon, and running/not running NPVR. all result in the same periodic CPU spikes.

Logs can be uploaded later (at work now, logs are at home!), but looking at them last night shows nothing out of the ordinary.

I'd appreciate any help, advice, comments anyone can offer.

Stuart.

UK Channel logo's in TV Listings
Posted by: Bobbybear - 2011-11-30, 10:39 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (2)

Hi NPVR Support
I am testing NPVR and so far I am impressed.
The one thing I have failed to find is a way to display the UK channel logos in the TV Listings plugin.
On the website there is a picture showing the channels displayed with logo's. I have .png logo files if only I could find a way to insert them or download them into the program.
Any ideas??

  nDroid v1.6.4 released
Posted by: bgowland - 2011-11-30, 01:53 AM - Forum: Community Announcements - No Replies

I've uploaded v1.6.4 of the nDroid client to the Android Market. If you visit the Market, it might prompt you that there is a manual update available. Alternatively, search for ndroid nextpvr to find it.

PLEASE NOTE - you will need to first install an updated version of the nDroidService available from the NextPVR wiki...

http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?...ity.NDroid

Changes from the wiki History section...

Quote:2011-11-30 00:53 - v1.6.4

* Added "Timeslot" TV Guide view - NOTE this is still a work in progress, even with only 28 channels it takes a while to build this view on my phone - expect a longer delay with more channels.
* Added new menu option "View" to switch between "7-day", "Now Showing" and "Timeslot" TV Guide views.
* Changed the "pending recording" highlight from Red to Orange. Recordings which should be in progress will show in Red. NOTE my use of the word 'should' - whether you're online or offline, the highlight is shown as an indicator rather than a guarantee that a recording is successfully in-progress.
* Fixed code so all TV Guide views will allow setting recordings.
* Improved the UI for various popups.
* Fixed bug which meant that TV shows "in the past" would still be highlighted as "pending".
* Now possible to set pre/post padding when setting a recording. Also able to set 'number of days to keep' for season recordings (use 0 to keep all).
Please direct all support queries / problems / feedback to the support thread.

  Selling my PCH A-100
Posted by: soccerdad - 2011-11-29, 06:03 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (13)

With this cablecard mess, I am using mostly WMC7 for my recordings now (DRM Sad) So now I am selling my fully functional Popcorn Hour A-100 so I can buy an xbox to use as an extender. It is complete with the remote and power supply, in the original box. It was a refurb that I got a couple of years ago. It was on the shelf for much of that time as I worked on other projects. It works great with NPVR.

Instead of dealing with Ebay, I decided to give you all a shot at it first. I would like $65 for it and it will cost about $10 to ship in the US.

Send me a PM with any questions.

Copy recorded file with .bat not working
Posted by: NebulaOdyssey - 2011-11-29, 03:34 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (12)

Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum and recent to NPVR.

I have a problem with copying recordings automatically. Basically I got a nas and I want to copy completed recordings to the nas, but only after recording. This reduces the possibility of failure to record do to any network problems or of nas is off.

So I use postprocessing.bat to check that the recorded programme exists. Then I want I to be copied to my nas. check it exists on the nas and report in a log file. simple right.

Now for some reason it just won't work. The .bat file runs and reports in my log that the programme was recorded. But it will not copy the file to my nas? I've also run the same .bat file giving the path to a real recording, i.e acting as %1 in postprocessing.bat, and it runs perfectly fine. Copies and reports successful in my log. If NPVR calls the .bat after a finished recording the file just doesn't seem to copy.

I use:
Copy %1 "R:\recordedtv\"
I've tried with and without trailing \ to no avail.

Can you please help.

Running XP & NPVR latest release.

  Freeview AND Freesat
Posted by: R1Dave - 2011-11-29, 01:46 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (16)

Hi,
I am an ex-GPBR user and I've just starting using it again having ditched my Sky box. NPVR looks great.

I currently have a dual tuner DVB-t PCI tuner (Hauppauge but can't remember the model). I'm now looking at HD options and I'm thinking about adding a dual tuner PCIe DVB-s2 card (e.g. TBS6981).

I'm just wondering how these will work together?
1. Will it recognise common channels and list them only once in the guide?
2. Will the EPG download automatically for the freesat channels as it does currently for the freeview channels?
3. Are there any other complications i should consider?

It sounds a good idea but i want to keep it simple.

Dave

Hi!

Could someone fix the url of the donatebutton within the wiki, please? It leads to the old gbpvr.com/donate.html which differs from the current donatelink.
