I really like the MVP idea, a dumb client that you turn on and its gets its menus from a server (nPVR) and all the plugins. As the only way to do this now seems to be MVP (not MVP-HD unless anyone can corrent me), the Popcorn hour and some other NMT that Martin gets working (Martin which NMT will your client work on?).

I really like the idea that the MVP is small (5-10 watts of power used), nice and easy way to hide it, however due to the above its looking like the nPVR client maybe a good way to go, however i notice the nPVR client doesn’t pull its menus from the server, only the recordings, guide and tuner information.

Is there a way (an option like "tuner / recording / guide" and "true client / server") to have the menus rendered locally AND it pull all the plugs from the server as well (acting like an MVP does)?

This means you can really have a dumb client install, tell it where the server is (from a share) and it pull everything from this server so install and configuration of all your plugins are not needed on each client.?

Might be a wish list idea maybe?

I'm having issues with my EPG setup. I don't understand what's wrong...about 6 months ago mc2xml started giving me a TCP error instead of downloading any new listings. This was when I was using GBPVR and I've (incidentally) formatted my PC and started using NPVR since then. And my firewall is off.

So any hints on that would be great, but I've moved on to plan B: storing the xml file on a server and downloading it from there. That should be possible based on this text that I found in the wiki, but I can't figure out how to make npvr look there. The wording suggests that I can actually point NPVR to a web address, but my options on the Import screen for EPG Source are just XMLTV and Schedules Direct.

You will need an XMLTV grabber to download your EPG data into a file, and then point NextPVR to that file which can be stored anywhere on your system. NPVR can also link directly to an XMLTV file on a web server. Configure your grabber according to any given instructions. Once you've set the options correctly and executed the grabber it will produce a data.xml file (the name may vary but the extension will always be ****.xml).

My EPG data will signify a new episode by adding a * at the end of the episode name e.g. Battlestar Galactica *

Handy for recording just new episodes. Problem is, for series I've Created a Link with, I just noticed that I seemingly have to do it twice. Once for the episode without the * and once with.

It might be a nice tweak it ignore the * for creating a link.

I have finally decided to give TV Listings a go, as a replacement for the built-in Recordings and TV Guide sections.

I'm having two issues:
1. I use 2 x DVB-S tuners to watch NZ Freeview, so I don't have an XML TV listings. Is there any way I can download the extra info into my recordings without this?
2. When in the TV Recordings view the highlighting doesn't work properly. I think I've narrowed it down to 'Played' files. When I am scrolling up and down through the recordings the selected file is not highlighted if it's been played. This makes navigating difficult as I don't know which file is selected. Is this a bug or have I not configured something correctly?

Using cyberlink PDVD 11 decoder from SAF6, skipping forward on a UK freeview HD recording results in the image becoming corrupted (massive pixalation) about 70% of the time. The only way to resolve it is to exit back to the menu and then resume.

Any ideas as to the probably cause or suggestions for alternative decoders to try?

Hi, as i have a HVR 2250, i know it has a hardware encoder.

I assuming this means its commanded to save data then sent a stop command when its it needs.

However the resulting file plays about 20 mins, then after this i cant get it to continue to play, even with VLC, this leads me to believe the actual file is damaged somehow (also meaning nPVR cant skip to the place you stopped last time as VLC cant do it either).

There’s no antivirus scanning in the save directory.

So first question is (as i never had this problem with PVR150 cards) how do i change the "quality" settings for the card?
Next, would a bad cable signal do this (ive seen that before with the PVR150, glitch in the video sometimes do over the saved file, once skipped it was fine, however i cant skip past this error, all the video is in the file though).

If i get time i might import this in to a video editing software and see if it finds any problems.

I don't *need* this, but it would make configuring the AudioAdjust plugin a bit easier for users...

Is anyone working on a writeup of Comskip for the wiki? If not, I'll (at least) port and update the old Comskip page from the gbpvr wiki.

wiki says "to do", so I ask here...

These skin things - are they a sub standard (sub as in the boss rather than below standard) or are they based on some generic skinning idea?
If generic, does anyone have a link?.

I am trying to tweak, very slightly the default skin to optimise it for my TV via NMT. Is there a "comment out" facility? when playing with other stuff, I prefer to comment out the line I am tweaking and fiddle with a copy - I can't see anything like that in the supplied skins.

Are there any tools to help view changes to avoid my slow hunt and peck style of Edit, Save, Npvr, TV Guide, Sigh, Exit ??
any ideas most welcome.
