my trusty old passively cooled 8600gt video card fell over yesterday , so ordered a new HD6670 card. Is installed and works fine but I now suddenly have the option of sound over HDMI through the TV speakers.
The 8600 didn't support sound (at least not with the DVI-HDMI connector I was using), so all sound was routed through SPDIF to my Amp.
What I want to know is if there is a way to have the audio mapped to both audio devices at the same time??. Can swap between outputs OK, but requires stopping Npvr, and switching default sound device. I like the idea of using the TV speakers most of the time instead of having the amp on 24/7, but would be ideal to swap without digging into the control panel (wife friendly is a must!!!)
Also while I'm posting, have an minor issue with the video freezing for a few seconds occasionally, then carrying on. Seems to coincide with the Hdd spinning up, and suspect it's a side effect of some other process. Not sure how to find whats causing it though??
Any suggestions ??
Is only a minor annoyance, As a whole Npvr is working beautifully
Sub, would it be possible to add a method for a tuner plugin to somehow identify that it is linked with a native tuner? I'd like to be able to avoid scheduling a copy freely show on one tuner and a wtv recording on another.
After 10 days of problem-free recording, I got the first bad recording yesterday. The file is there and about 5.8GB which seems about right for 1 hour of HD. But, it just shows a black screen in NPVR, and chokes VLC. Martin, do you want a chunk of the file to look at?
After finding the bad recording, I tried live TV and it worked fine. The same program recorded fine 3 hours later (thank you repetitious cable).
hi guys, im completely new to this concept so dont really know what i need/want.
firstly, not looking to get channels im not paying for for free. i just want to get sky nz channels inside my pvr and not have to use skys box (its big, interface is ugly, and i just want one box/server and all the other client machines around the house can change sky channels, record programs etc).
ok the machine im wanting to run this on is a mac mini running windows 7 ultimate. being a mac mini, every component im going to need must be USB. so what do i need exactly to get this to work?
- usb smart card reader? can someone point me to a place to buy these?
- usb dvb-t tuner? are there any USB ones that are twin tuners or anything (mac minis have a limited amount of usb ports, although i could use a usb hub, but rather just buy 2x a twin tuner for up to four channels)
anyone have a guide to set this up? i was looking at smartcards and found one for around NZD$120 but not sure if thats what i need or not, and dont want to waste that much money on something if it isnt.
sub,
I don't know if you have been following the thread where we have been testing Martin's network recorder for the DCR-2650. We now have it working on my system pretty well. I can now schedule recording a copy-once flagged program using npvr and it will record it and leave a nice .wtv file in the directory. Now all I would like to be able to do is to select this show from either the recording screen or from videos, and have it play. Obviously it won't be able to play natively in npvr. Is it possible for you to set it up so it plays back all .wtv files using WMC? ie selecting the file to play would start WMC and play the file? Selecting a wtv file in file manager now does exactly this. Could this be done through npvr?
I know this is less than ideal solution, but the files can only be played back in WMC. A user could configure all copy-once flagged channels to use networkrecorder and all non-flagged channels to use the native DCR interface. All non-flagged would be .ts and all flagged would be .wtv.
If you don't want to do this in your regular interface (which I understand), could it be done in a plugin ("Recordings X")
I used GB-PVR 1.3.7. until last week. I heard that NPVR was also possible on the MVP so I tried to install.
Got it working, noticed there are some issues in 2.2.6, but Sub is working on those.
Now my question:
I noticed fast forward and rewind are not working in 2.2.6. It skips instead. Found a threat in where Sub said, GB-PVR never did skip and I know it didn't on my pc.
Since it works on my MVP when using GB-PVR, I must assume it's because Martin implemented it in his dongle?
If so, is it now possible too? Did I miss something? I have the lastest dongle of 20th february 2011 (and see that when turning on the MVP).
If not, will it be implemented? Does it work, but maybe only on a different extender than an MVP?
