At least twice now, I've found that NRecord.exe was still "recording" a program long after it was supposed to be finished. When I look in the NRecord.log file, I see:

I recently set up an NPVR server. It's an AMD dual core 2ghz pc with 4gb of ram and a 1TB hard drive running Windows 7. It's connected to my home network via 100mb wired ethernet. I also set up a second NPVR pc that is configured as a client to the NPVR server. It is an Intel dual core 1.8ghz pc with 2.5gb of ram and a 160bg hard drive also running Windows 7.

The client connects to the server fine. I can see the tv guide and all of the recorded programs. When I attempt to play a recorded video, however, it all falls down. The performance playing the video is poor at best. It often lags and then speeds up to catch up. Audio is frequently out of sync, and skipping ahead or back in the video can cause a lag of anywhere from 5 to 30 seconds. When I play the videos locally on the server (connected to a tv) it plays fine, but the client performance is terrible to the point of being practically unusable.

Does anyone know a way to boost performance? Is there a configuration I may have missed or is the hardware I picked just not up to snuff (though playing the video with WMP via windows share on the same machine is fine).

When I got my cablecard, the TWC person told me they cost $2.50 per month. I thought that was fair. Then I got my bill and it also shows a charge of about $3.00 for a digital programming guide. I called them on it and they told me that with the cablecard I got "extra channels" and features that are new to me and that I needed them. I told them there were no new channels, and then they changed the story and said the hardware rental was $2.50, but to use it was $3.00 per month:eek: Somewhere he also told me the charge with for the EPG which I promptly told him I did not nor could not use do to it being a cablecard. I elevated it to a manager and he said it was all layed out on their website. I asked him where, and after a few minutes of looking, he had to ask another manager. Then he came back an led me through about 5 pages to get to a place where I could order a cable card, and if I did, it would tell me the price!

I then blasted him on bait and switch practices and inconsistent pricing (a STB costs $10.50 and includes your right to use it) SO he finally said there was no way he could change that charge. I then suggested that dish network was getting a call and he came back with "I can't change THAT charge, but let me look at your account for other savings." Then he came back and told me that for the next 12 months my total bill, internet, and 2 stb's and a cablecard and my tv package would now be $90 per month, down from $142/month! SO for bitching about $3 I saved $50. ($600 for the year)

Crazy.

It's great to be able to use my EGreat M34A to playback video files with HE-AAC audio using mvpmcx2. What I sometimes would like to do is take the EGreat with me to the holiday home with my USB drive to catch up on some taped TV programmes, many with HE-AAC audio. Any potential for being able to tie mvpmcx2's HE-AAC playback capability into the native NMT playback so that I can actually get HE-AAC audio when I'm not connected to the NextPVR server? Probably a big ask, I know.

I have 2 colossus tuners and 1 hd-pvr and no matter what i do i cannot get all three tuners set to use component video / spdif as input settings.

If i get one to work the others revert to some wacky setting for example

colossus 1 = component / spdif
will make
colossus 2 = component / hdmi
hdpvr = s-video / front rca

hdpvr = component /spdif
will make
colossus 1 = component / rca
colossus 2 = component / hdmi

colossus 2 = component / spdif
will make
colossus 1 = component / rca
hdpvr = s-video / front rca

This happens whether i use Arcsoft showbiz or npvr. Arcsoft only remembers the last tuner set and will revert the other tuners to their crazy values. Npvr seems to use the Arcsoft showbiz values as a default.

I am using win 7 x86, npvr 2.26 with the latest patches and i have the <ForceSPDIF>true</ForceSPDIF> in my config.xml. Is there a registry setting / ini file where i can set these values independent of Arcsoft showbiz?

I've had a failed recording tonight, and the error is: Unable to get 'NPVR TS Mon'. In the logs before that line I see: FindFilterByName failed to locate filter: NPVR TS Mon. BTW, great to see that it's trying to do the recording on another device if the first one doesn't record!

This is an announcement for ALPHA testing and feedback only. This plugin is not fully functionally and is not ready for general release.

If the content rate (in frames per second) of your media does not match a multiple of the refresh rate (in hertz) of your video output, then you may notice the video playback juddering or stuttering. AutoRefresh uses MediaInfo to inspect the framerate of your media (just before playback begins) and then sets your video output to a suitable matching refresh rate.

I'm mainly after feedback at the moment:
- does it work for you?
- how does it work with multiple monitors (if it even does)?
- is it correctly identifying the framerate of your media? (check the logs)
- what additional features does it need?

Ironically, it isn't working for me! Switching to 23.976Hz playback seems ok, but switching back to 50Hz for Live TV or PAL media files is *causing* stuttering that isn't there if I start NPVR with 50Hz already set.

I need to know how it performs for others. I need to know if different mechanisms for switching the video output rate make a difference (although there's only one way coded for now). I need to know if sub might have to implement something to allow the plugin to work correctly.

Please also note that switching for DVD playback is not implemented yet. And it also doesn't check to see if the refresh rates you've entered are actually valid, so be careful telling your old CRTs to output 600Hz - I take no responsibility for any damage, no matter how big the resultant explosion

Going potty over this. It was fine but due to excess CPU use (suspect through using Tight VNC) I decided to do a clean install of Vista.

Have installed the new version of NPVR and done the necessary amendments to recognise analog and DVB-T for Hauppauge HVR 1300.

Since doing this I cannot get a smooth channel change - it freezes up NPVR and then when able to do so it responds wth "Tuner for Live TV now unavailable!.
The only workaround I have fathomed is using the channel list, select channel, revert ack to main menu before selecting the next channel.

Is there a way to overcome this and reach normality?

I have since acquired Medion/Creatix CTX953 V1 PCI card and installed this. I now have 2 sets of Tuners DVB-T/Analog on Vista. PC is single core AMD Sempron 1.8GH.

Rather than pester the NPVR-universe I did try sourcing the answer in wiki and the community but to no avail - hope someone can help!!

I am working on a plugin which should help with recording around problems caused because of of a sporting event. My experience is with the North American Eastern time zone so it might differ by event by timezone and by country. The main things that I am considering are

- extending recording time for sporting events that go longer than planned
- changing times on Sunday night prime time tv when the late games goes long
- record baseball double headers separately

I'd like too read your challenges too. Some that come to mind:

- with one tuner early game on one network goes long but the late game on the other network is the one you want to watch. How do I indicate this? Maybe favourite NFL teams?
- only NFL games cause a schedule change
- Monday and Thursday games don't cause me any problem what about in the west?

Our channels have been shuffled today and doing a rescan failed to find BBC1 and 2. I needed to add a further MUX (650000) to the ini file which is in NPVR\Tuning\DVB-T, so mine now reads;
