As I have mentioned before my nPVR keeps crashing everyday. It usually involves some combination of remote keypresses while I am not actually watching nPVR (my wife still likes to use the TV directly).
So I decided to create the problem in a somewhat controlled manner.Please see the log files attached. so here is what I did:

@16:16 closed all nPVR apps cleared the log files and restarted nPVR
started liveTV - got picture ok
pressed some random keys on my Hauppage remote (pause, up/down, left, right, ok)
after a short while nPVR stopped responding
pressed channel up, nothing, channel down, no response
left it there frozen for half an hour or so
@16:59 came back to nPVR and it still was frozen
pressed play, up, down, but no response
rightclicked with mouse several times still no response
fiinally pressed Ctrl-Alt-Del, and chose switch to task > nextPVR, it said nextPVR is not responding.

Thanks for adding the time-of-day to the video OSD in the latest version. I have the UI Zoom Percent set to compensate for overscan but the time text is cut off on the right side and doesn't seem to be offset for the zoom amount.
I installed a technisat dvb-c card with softcam. I had it almost working but in trying to getting complete I must have broken something because NPVR started crashing all the time. So I put an old windows image back and made a clean install.
Now, I got so far that I can HEAR a non-encrypted channel, but I can't see it in NPVR. I can see the video in windows media player so I thought it might be a decoder problem, but both available video decoders don't seem to do the trick.
The other problem is that acamd keeps saying that there's no smartcard defined, which explains why I can't see encrypted channels:

Things I did:
First, I physically removed the (other) analogue tv-card before reinstalling.
The only thing in cardclient.config is:

I added a file acamd.ini:

(but I don't know where the log is going)
Don't I have to add here "technisat=1" or something?
I copied the acamd files in directory: C:\Users\Public\NPVR\MDPlugins\TechniSat Mantis DVBC BDA Receiver #1-1
I copied and pasted FFDecsa.dll in C:\Program Files (x86)\NPVR, but NPVR still couldn't find it. Not until after I copied it in C:\Program Files (x86)\NPVR\Other, NPVR didn't say it was missing.
I changed <readers name="Phoenix"> and <node>COM9</node> in newcs.xml and started newcs.exe
The error in the log file says cannot write to read only database. But when I check the properties of npvr.db3 it shows everyone has full access. I'm running 2.2.6 and very happy with the performance of it. PC client is actually my laptop on a g network. I'm able to stream HD from DirecTV through NPVR flawlessly. I can see the guide and recordings. Can play recordings just can't schedule one.

So i try to coppy channels mapping from older tuner.
When i click on LiveTV, there is ...wait... message, then black screen (not a codec issue, there is no problem with old tunner).
I just installed NPVR 2.2.6 with Win7 and its outstanding. I am using 4 tuners (2 x 2250) and the channel setup was easy. My Schedules Direct EPG is working and the TV Guide is populated. (For some reason I could not get this working with the last 2 versions).
I only need to set up a few more things before I can let go of GB:
1) a commercial skipping function (like Comskip) and,
2) some way to preview the QAM channels so I can map them.
I don't see these functions in the menus or described in the Wiki. Are they available?
Don't get me wrong please. I appreciate all the hard work put in by everybody involved in this project. But as basic user, I am trying to make a decision as to what to do and I think I need a more informed view.
The reason I ask is because I am starting to ask myself why did I move away from Mediaportal a few weeks ago. I am not that familiar with techical details, but from a basic user perspective this is all I can think of at the moment. Please let me know what am I missing.
MediaPortal Pros:
Seemed to be much more refined (not that I care much about looks)
More functionality
Flawless navigation
MediaPortal cons:
MediaPortal used to crash once in a while (for example once a week).
Channel changing wasn't very responsive
After a few weeks of using nPVR this is what I think about nPVR: nPVR Pros:
Love the channel changing responsiveness
Love the timeshifting method
Robust (or is it?)
What else ?
nPVR Cons:
Crashes everyday, at least for me
Skipping is not usable, at least for me
Subtitle(DVB) is not usable on recordings/when timeshifting - it is ahead by about a minute
Or are there any other PVR options out there?
All I personally need in a PVR is basic functionality, responsivness and Robustness.
I'm sure this has been asked before, but I cannot find it. What are the four numbers in the <AspectRatio> parameter in Config.xml? I'm trying to define a mode which gives me a correct picture on my 1650x1050 lcd screen, since the higth of the picture seems to be too low in Auto mode for 16:9 transmissions. I can tell because circles are a bit squeezed flat.
