  Alternative payment providers?
Posted by: sub - 2011-05-11, 06:01 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (61)

PayPal has screwed me over again. I'm going to have to find another way to collect funds.

Has anyone used any other payment services for collecting funds that they'd like too recommand?

I ideally need something that is usable world wide, or at least in US/Canada/Europe/UK/Australia/NZ, and accepts a variable amount payment via credit/debit card, low fees preferrable.

Annoyingly some services like Google CheckOut etc only allow US/UK merchants. I'm in New Zealand, so need a service that accepts merchants in NZ.

  Sound question CATV DTV
Posted by: Jimdish255 - 2011-05-11, 04:11 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (2)

I have both DTV and my tuner card hooked up to a CATV coax. While watching various programs the sound (goes through my Denon AVR-591 amp) changes from 5.1 to stereo depending on the show/commercial. I generally record late-nite US programming and find that I get 5.1 for Kimmel and Fallon, but Leno and Letterman are pushing just stereo through both the DTV box and the Laptop tuner (NPVR). There is also an OTA antenna in my attic that gets the Connecticut NBC affiliate and Leno goes center channel on the antenna fed through the DTV OTA tuner, but the NY NBC "local" on the Sat is stereo.

Here's the weird thing. Both GOM Player and Mediainfo show a 6 channel audio stream:

(Mediainfo)
First audio stream
384 Kbps, 48.0 KHz, 16 bits, 6 channels, AC-3

If it were just the laptop (CATV) I would think there is an AC3 Filter setting to fix it, but it's the same watching on the DTV SAT so I'm thinking the 6 channel info is either misleading, or the receiver and DTV box are somehow not reading certain formats properly. As I said, other shows, movies and commercials have great sound but I wonder about these.

Any ideas about this or do you think I might get lucky calling DTV and asking a sound related question?

  Full TS support
Posted by: Trollslayer - 2011-05-11, 03:24 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

In GBPVR there was an option to recrod the whole transport stream but I can't find it in NPVR.
Is it hidden or hasn't this been added yet? If it could that would help me out a lot.
Thanks. Smile

No tuners available for this recording
Posted by: wodger - 2011-05-11, 09:40 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (22)

I just tried to schedule a recording which would have used the multirecord feature. I got a message which said no tuners were available for this recording. The program was on DVB-S NZ Freeview "FOUR" and the existing scheduled recordings at the same time were on channels 2 and 3. As I understand it the tuner locked on channel 3 should have been able to record channel four at the same time.

I just demonstrated multirecord a few days ago to a friend by loading up about 5-6 channels to record all at the same time and showed him that I could record them all at the same time and watch any of them as well, so I really expected this to work.

TV2 is on frequency 12483/H.22500 SID 1036, TV3 and FOUR are on 12456/H/22500 SID 1920 and 1921 respectively.

The day in question is 11 May 2011: TV2 is scheduled to record American Idol at 8.30pm and then Distraction at 10.00pm, TV3 is scheduled to record the program 7 Days at 9.30pm. I was trying to add Chain Reaction at 8.30-10.30pm on Four.

Logs attached, have I missed anything?

Good, Cheap MCE Remote for use Logitech Harmony Emulation
Posted by: weisguy - 2011-05-10, 07:40 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (6)

About ready to move to NPVR and it looks like it's time for me to move from the built-in Hauppauge remote on my tuner to the MCE remote schema. I have a logitech harmony and therefore can use it for anything in logitech's library or that is learnable. I would like to buy a cheap MCE remote basically for the receiver and emulate the associated remote using the Logitech Harmony.

I thought at first that any old one would do, but it looks like it's hit or miss. The second review of this remote on amazon for example scares me - sounds like the guy had a ton of trouble doing this and it looks like such ease is not guaranteed.

Anyone doing this and had luck with anything in particular they could recommend? I am in the USA and will run Windows 7 when I upgrade to NPVR.

If this thread is a dupe I apologize - It seems like someone here should have asked this by now, but I couldn't find any recommendations after scouring through the forums.

  Skinning & Rendering
Posted by: mvallevand - 2011-05-10, 05:51 PM - Forum: Developers - Replies (31)

I am have a nightmare of a time trying to set the alpha level for a particular rectangle transparent in a region that is managed by many elements.

Is there an order of priority that the layers are applied?

Is the last item in the last active Element in the last RenderList always applied last or are there other factors?

Do items in the Element override the Element's attributes?

Does the Background Element get added first or last?

Finally what is the difference between alpha"##" and using fillcolour="#ARGB" and does this affect priority?

Sorry for all the questions, but I can see why Hairy gave up on skinning the trial and error is driving me crazy.

EPG Update when PC isn't on 24/7
Posted by: WebbedToe - 2011-05-10, 02:56 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (1)

I'm using N-PVR 2.0.3 on a XP Pro PC that is not on 24/7. If the EPG Update Hour = 2 and the PC is off then, when will the EPG update? Will it update when the PC is turned on? If not, how can I get EPG Update to happen without leaving the PC on 24/7?

Thanks for your time! Smile

PS...I have a Windows Schedule Task setup to run mc2xml.exe everytime the PC is turned on and that appears to be working fine.

Client Server Setup - Errors and locking up
Posted by: jksmurf - 2011-05-10, 03:10 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (16)

I'm stuck with a Server / Client install. Server works fine. Client is a laptop, but it must work, because it did with GBPVR.

For this error, I modfied the hosts files on both C & S by taking away the ::1 - No Change??

Code:
2011-05-10 10:06:00.410 [ERROR][1] Unexpected socket exception calling StartStream(): System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond 203.198.80.62:8968

I've opened up the firewalls to check it all - no joy. Very frustrating. This is over wireless btw.

It seems to also get an error about no hardisk

  MVP comskip support
Posted by: Kevina - 2011-05-10, 02:33 AM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (5)

OK, I've been digging around in the forums for quite a while now, and maybe I'm just being dense, but I can't seem to figure out how to get comskip support on my MVP with NPVR! With GBPVR, if I paused a video, you could see where the commercial breaks were, and I could press the play button to manually skip the commercial I was in the middle of. I've bumped into several threads talking about the postprocessing.bat file to get compskip to process the recorded videos, but even there I'm not certain of exactly where to copy the comskip.exe and supporting files.

Does anyone have it working with your MVP, and how did you get it going?

Thanks,
Kevin
