  Hauppauge HD PVR does not start live tv
Posted by: btc - 2011-05-15, 02:59 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (10)

Hi,

I'm new on NPVR community, I own a Hauppauge HD PVR and I have the newest drivers installed and I heard good things about NPVR and decided to try it. It is said to support HD PVR and it seems to support, I installed NPVR and it detected the HD PVR device, I configured it but I cannot start the Live TV preview, it says that it is unable to communicate with the device. Pretty weird, because it is connected and powered on, and it works on Beyond TV and Total Media Extreme.
I searched lots of places trying to find the answer including NPVR documentation but I could not find any details about it. If someone could give me a tip of what this problem might be... :confused:

  How does @visible work?
Posted by: mvallevand - 2011-05-15, 01:36 AM - Forum: Developers - Replies (11)

Sub is there a trick to using @visible that I don't remember? I have this line in a skin

Code:
<Text text="@Album" visible="@noImage" location="65,38" size="20,52" font="Album_Default" align="Center" wrap="true"/>

and it displays with if it is not in the hash or if

args["@noImage"]=true;
args["@noImage"]=false;

The Hashtable() seems to be working because if I don't set args["@Album"]= I get the @Album showing on the screen.

  Can't view Nikon raw photo
Posted by: thamch - 2011-05-14, 06:08 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

Hi Sub,
I've installed the Nikon Codec to view the raw file. I can view without any problem using the windows picture viewer. I had edited the npvr config.xml to enable the .nef extension. However, when I click on the .nef file, nothing appear. Attached here is the log file. Thank you.

  No sound when playing imported videos(.mpg) from GBPVR to nPVR
Posted by: thamch - 2011-05-14, 05:08 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (1)

Hi,
When I play the imported .mpg file, video is working fine but no sound. I played the file in Windows Media Player and it play without any problem.

No extra codec install in my HTPC. Any possible solution?

  NPVR with XP EWF (Enhanced Write Filter) and HORM (Hibernate Once Resume Many)
Posted by: Stuart_P - 2011-05-13, 04:04 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

My HTPC has a Compact flash as its OS disk on a CF to SATA adapter to keep noise and power draw down and I'm too tight to buy an SSD for the HTPC. 95% of the time the CF works great, but every now and then the limited write speed stalls the system which is not good. I looked into this and found out about the Enhanced Write Filter. It basically diverts all writes to a disk to a ram cache instead. Changes can be forgotten or committed to disk at any time by the user. Googling some more I found out it can be installed on a standard XP system, but it can be a pain (or time consuming) to set up so I thought I'd post here first to see if anyone has used it or if anyone can see any potential problems using it on a htpc with npvr.

I have already got my npvr recordings and settings on my proper hard disk (2TB WD ecogreen) with all the recordings, and I guess I could move the install directory to the HD too if I needed to.

So, Anyone tried it? anyone still using it?, anyone even heard of it???

Stuart

P.S. I know I could install XP on the HDD, but I like to keep the OS and data disks separate so that upgrades, backups, OS changes are a little less painful/dangerous.

  No recordings on two seperates channels
Posted by: big3b69 - 2011-05-12, 09:34 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (6)

I have had an issue crop up lately, when I attempt to record two seperate channels, ie 13.1 and 27.1, nvpr will crash/hang. What I mean is, when I shut the pc down for the night, a window pops up asking if I want to shut npvr down. Then when I start it the next day, the recordings have a yellow 'x' next to it.

I am attaching the ziped logs. Last night, I wanted to record 13.1 Criminal Minds:Suspect Behavior and 27.1 Law and Order: SVU. BOth have a yellow 'x' in the recordings.

I have recently update the motherboard, CPU and graphics card. I am really loving nPvr and I am discovering wonderful things with the plugins. Please keep up all the great work that everyone is doing.

Matt B.

  A Word on Keys
Posted by: Ommina - 2011-05-12, 01:29 AM - Forum: Developers - Replies (1)

Today's question!

I'm about to embark upon my lifelong dream of cycling through .mkv streams while a video is playing.

Sub, are there any keys, or combinations of keys, that you would like to reserve for use by the npvr core, and should be avoided by plugins ? If I stick with alt-based keycodes, should that leave me reasonably safe from being subsequently broken by future core development?

I can already avoid colliding with other plugins by keeping track of which plugin is active, but since much of the core keys (start, stop, pause, aspect) are universal, I'd like to ensure I'm playing nice.

  Cannont Find Channels
Posted by: Shimizoki - 2011-05-12, 01:09 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (15)

Ive had a tuner card for a while now and after repeated attempts on several different PVR programs I have never been able to get it working longer than a day or 2. I am currently trying to use nPVR with no avail.

Following the instructions on the getting started I think I have everything configured correctly, but when I go to Devices->Device Setup->Scan. I get no results. This is for both ATSC and QAM, I've plugged the cable into both ports on the device... just to be sure I tried all physical options.

I realize I've given you very little info, but I couldn't find anything at all that pertained to 2.03. Thank you for any help you can provide.

OS: Win 7 x64
Tuner: I think its a WinTV 1600, uses PCI (Displayed as Hauppauge WinTV 418 BDA)
Cable: Standard Florida Cable
