  Clicking Stream deletes file immediately
Posted by: WebbedToe - 2011-05-06, 01:13 PM - Forum: NextPVR Enhanced Web Admin (NEWA) - Replies (2)

Hi.

I'm using N-PVR version 2.0.3 and when I click Stream on /Manage2.aspx, instead of streaming, the file is immediately deleted. Is this suppose to happen?Sad

Thanks for your time!

TV Co Re-Schedule after midnight looses recurring recordings
Posted by: Lao Pan - 2011-05-06, 08:22 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (2)

The Event on Ch 4 here was on at 23.00 for a couple of weeks so set up a recurring recording for the wife. Now it has been rescheduled to Midnight (must be poor ratings Big Grin)
But NPVR missed finding it even though it is only an hour later - I presume because it is now on a different day. My fault as usual  !

  Updating Manual Recordings
Posted by: Tim Nevo - 2011-05-05, 09:44 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (21)

First of all... THANKS SUB! I really like npvr over gb-pvr (and all others). I've had some problems, but the patches and these forums have helped.

However....

I can set a manual recording just fine, but when I update it the hours change to the current time. I set it for 4:30AM to 7:00AM, but the update page lists it as 4:00PM to 5:00PM, which is the current hour. It doesn't affect the actual recording times.

Just so everyone knows I have been using a SiliconDust HD Homerun at home (as ATSC) and Hauppauge 2250 (3 of them as ClearQAM) at work and so far everything is just fine.

  S-Video to RCA TV
Posted by: ccody73 - 2011-05-05, 08:50 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (3)

Hello,

I am trying to build a DVR (actually an AVR I have analog (coax) cable) from an older PC.
I am in the United States, but I don't think that fact matters at this point.

3 Questions:

1. I am trying to connect my PC to my TV using the S-Video out port on my video card (GeForce FX 5200 NV34) and using an interface cable that converts S-Video to an RCA video cable. I have the video card resolution set to 620x480 at 60 Hz refresh. The TV shows the post message from the motherboard, but goes black (not static. It is black.) when the windows splash screen pops. It also stays black after I have logged in.
My setup:
Motherboard: ECS EliteGroup K7VMA REV 1.0
CPU: Athlon XP 2400+ (1.93GHz) 266FSB
Video Card: LeadTek GeForce FX5200 NV34 8XAGP 128MB DDR w/VGA, DVI & TV-Out
OS: Windows 2000.
Motherboard, OS, and Video Card drivers are as up to date as possible.

What do I need to do to keep the TV reading from the RCA (converted from S-Video) input?

2. Would it be useful to use a cable that converts the SVGA to RCA?

3. (Since I'm already asking) What is the most trouble free PCI TV Tuner capture card?
(A remote would be nice, but I'm not picky.)

Thank you

  Inset video window
Posted by: JP23 - 2011-05-05, 10:37 AM - Forum: TV Listings - Replies (3)

Hi,
Not a support request, but I was wondering if, since NPVR 2.03 added

Quote:'ability to switch video into Inset window (on PC), while user continues to browse menus'
will you be using this in a future version, like it was used in GBPVR?

  Failed to start device: 0x8007001f

After about a year of reliability with gbpvr, I have moved my card (Hauppage WinTV Nova 500) to a new PC (running XP). I also elected to load NPVR and although things are ok most of the time, I get occasional failed recording with:
2011-05-04 21:10:30.703 [INFO][6] About to start BDA graph
2011-05-04 21:10:30.703 [DEBUG][6] Starting graph...
2011-05-04 21:10:30.703 [DEBUG][6] Failed to start device: 0x8007001f
2011-05-04 21:10:30.703 [DEBUG][6] Removing filter MPEG-2 Sections and Tables

I also notice that sometimes a recording is split in two as if there was an interruption. I am not sure what the logs are telling me, so hope someone can point me in the right direction

thanks
Allan

  Kudos on NPVR
Posted by: scott1256ca - 2011-05-04, 04:29 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (5)

I recently bought one of those avermedia duet dual atsc tuner cards. At the time I didn't understand their (stupid) marketing scheme and bought the "whitebox" version which requires xp media center edition, which I of course don't have. When you use that version, their own media center software doesn't work. I could rant excessively about what I think of that, but I'll spare you Smile.

So anyway, I did a search and found out that you could use XP with SageTV and the "whitebox" card. But my requirements are basically to just record, so I can edit and watch commercial free later, so paying an extra $100 for Sage seemed excessive.

So I decided to try NPVR. I'd experimented with it a bit for other reasons.

NPVR isn't the easiest software to install, but with a bit of perseverance I got it done. BTW, this patch, which I found on this forum was required to get dual tuning to work. Otherwise I could only record at most 15 min. before a crash.

Anyway, the one thing I wanted was to be able to record shows with a bit of padding so I wouldn't lose either the first or last minute of a program. So I was mightily pleased when I discovered that when recording 2 consecutive shows on the same channel, NPVR was smart enough to pad both shows with an extra minute or two at both beginning and end.

I was also pleased to find that once I had selected my shows to record, I could leave nrecord.exe in the background and close the main window. That means while not recording there is 30 meg or so being used. Compare that to WinTV (I also have a hauppauge 1250) which needs 2 background processes using something more than 100 meg, just to sit there and do nothing until it needs to record.

I haven't actually tested recording 3 channels at once yet, but am confident that it should be fine.

Thanks for the good work.

Can npvr do some very basic functions?
Posted by: scott1256ca - 2011-05-04, 04:11 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

I want to try to convert some video tape to dvd on my mothers computer.
Therefore, I'm not tuning channels and don't care about the program listing.
What I'd LIKE to do is start a recording, and enter a duration, at which point npvr would stop. Can NPVR do this? I sure can't find a way.
Do I have to set up some kind of xml channel info for this? I'd rather avoid it, if possible.
Some of the tapes are probably the 6 hr duration, and I'd rather just assume this and edit out the junk later, rather than just record for the show plus 89min post capture (which is the limit, I think) and then start again.
When channels are listed with no details it doesn't seem to want to record at all.

Notes:
I can use it to watch (or pause) live tv from the svideo input.
Therefore I know it can capture the mpegII stream from the card which is a diamond xtreme pvr 550. That has onboard mpegII encoder. The card came with beyondtv, which I can't stand, mostly because it doesn't work very well. So I decided to try npvr.
While I could hack an xmltv listing, I was hoping the process would be simple enough for my mother to handle, and that is beyond her, and I'm not going to visit her every day just to record a tape.
While I can do what I mention above with beyondtv, it WILL NOT show live tv. I don't know why. Probably a directshow issue. That makes it very difficult to queue up a recording to the correct spot. Plus beyondtv limits live recordings to 60 minutes unless you use the web interface ... did I mention I wanted simple?

Other things which people often want to know:
NPVR 2.0.3
XP SP3 up to date.
nvidia graphics card (6600 I think, not there right now).

Thanks in advance.

Black Gold BGT 3620 and PVR2- HD channel sound
Posted by: DanielP - 2011-05-04, 12:23 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (8)

Hi,

Just got one of these- it's an absolute gem of the card- SD is excellent, HD pic quality is superb......BUT......there seems to be problems finding a codec that can cope with the AAC-HE audio.

Folks seem to have got it working in NPR, but I don't seem to be having much luck with PVR2 using similar solutions. Anyone got it going yet, and if so, how?

Daniel
