Can't work out conflict, debug possible?
Posted by: macgyver - 2011-05-02, 08:18 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (9)

I have just rebuilt my system following a C drive failure. It's not been too bad but something is not quite right with my tuners/epg. I have three active tuners (DVB-T, DVB-S and PVR 150) plus a pinnacle that is disabled. I recorded three programs using all three tuners last night but cannot do the same tonight - 'No tuner available for this recording'. I can set two but not the third. Logs don't show anything so is there a way to increase debug logging so that I can see why it thinks it's not possible?

Is the "Keep" functionality in NPVR?
Posted by: petercooperjr - 2011-05-01, 11:59 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - No Replies

Been using NPVR almost since it came out, but only now noticed a missing feature that GB-PVR had (or at least, I can't seem to find it).

When recording a season of a show, and limiting it to only store the last so-many recordings, GB-PVR had an option on the menu of each recording to "Keep" it. That is, it would no longer count it toward the season recordings and would keep it and wouldn't delete it when later episodes got recorded.

Has this functionality gone elsewhere, is there a plugin that does something similar, or at the very least is there something I can do to muck around in the database if there's a particular recording that I don't want it to automatically delete when recording later episodes?

Thank you.

do you see badly targeted Google adverts?
Posted by: sub - 2011-05-01, 09:33 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (22)

Do you get shown really useless Google ads on the forums? I seem to get shown ads about careers and 'earning degrees from home' and stuff like that. Pretty useless really. I guess this ultimately flows through to a very low click through rate, and crappy payouts from Google.

I thought it might just be showing me these because I was in New Zealand, but crappy ads here in the US aswell.

  NPVR with Dreambox
Posted by: cooper43 - 2011-05-01, 12:39 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (6)

Right now I've been using NPVR with 2 PCH NMTs and content comes from HDHomerun with OTA HDTV antennas. I'm looking at expanding my content from the 12 free channels I get with Free-to-air satellight and thinking about using Dreambox 500S to accomplish this.

Has this been done before with NPVR (I saw some old threads with GBPVR and a decoder box plugin that I don't think is supported on NPVR). Shouldn't it be as easy as attaching the Dreambox to my network and using it as another source, updating channels using schedules direct and I'm good to go?

If anyone has any recommendation before I buy this Dreambox, I would appreciate.

thanks,
Steve

Locking a tuner across the system
Posted by: allstarnz - 2011-05-01, 11:16 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (3)

I use GB-PVR, as well as DVB-Viewer.

I find that I sometimes ruin my scheduled GB-PVR recordings when I forget, and open up DVB-Viewer. This then causes the GB-PVR recordings to stop.

Is there any way to 'lock' the tuner so if any other process on the system (e.g. DVB Viewer) won't interfere with the current recording?

Recording slight delay when computer wakes up = audio sync
Posted by: mattrobo - 2011-05-01, 06:57 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - No Replies

This only happens when I am time recording stuff that starts at 5am for my kids on a Sunday morning.

What happens (I guess ) is that because the computer has been "sleeping" all night the HD's are stopped etc, it starts to record for 1 second then the video "freezes" for 1 second but the audio continues. And is then out of sync.

It only happens with recordings at this time.

So really I need to wake the computer to do something - sure a schedulled xxxx.bat file that creates an empty file on a disk woiuld do it.

But other choices?

Leadtek WinFast TV2000XP Expert card (analog only)
Posted by: fuchstractor - 2011-04-30, 04:08 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (13)

I got this one free from a friend but unlike my other (Leadtek hybrid) card, I can't get it to work neither on Win7 nor on WinXP. I came to the conlcusion it just won't work with NPVR, but I'd appreciate some confirmation. (The card is based on Conexant CX23881-19)

SoftPVR is installed. The card works all right otherwise.

Filtercheck.log and accordingly modified AnalogDevices.xml attached.

  Dxva
Posted by: jcjefferies - 2011-04-30, 04:06 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (10)

Does anyone have experience using DXVA or other video accelerators like Pure Video with NPVR? My setup is all SD at the moment but I am looking to upgrade to HD soon. I am trying to work out if I just need to upgrade the motherboard or if a DXVA video card will allow a more modest motherboard upgrade. I have downloaded several H264 1080P video clips to test the current setup on my NPVR server and two clients.

My client is a 2GHZ P4 333Mhz RAM with Geforce 6600 video which supports DXVA and Pure video. Playing SD it runs at around 20% but playing 1080p it runs at 100% although a Cinemascope film runs at around 80% as there is less to process so was watchable most of the time. Although the Cyberlink decoders have DXVA selected in NPVR they are ignored and ffdshow are used instead. Even when the ffdshow DXVA decoder is selected for H264 the same ffdshow video filter is used. I suspect from using DXVA Checker that the card only supports DXVA for MPEG2 but not at 720p or 1080p.

The video card also supports Nvidia’s video accelerator Pure Video but as you have to buy the decoders I downloaded the time limited test decoders. DXVA Checker lists this under H264 at both 720p and 1080p but in NPVR is only listed under MPEG2 decoders and not under H264 decoders and the decoder is not used by NPVR. As two other media players both use the same decoders to play the videos I assume that that the Windows settings are overriding the NPVR settings. My other client is 3GHZ P4 366MHZ RAM but has no AGP slot so has PCI video card. This processes 1080p at around 60% but the video soon lags well behind the voice presumable because the PCI data rate is not fast enough.
