Two GBpvr systems after 5 years, it was time to upgrade to W7 64 and of course nPVR. For the most part it is easy to figure out compared to the original GBpvr, I saved all my recordings moved them and got almost all my functionality back. I need to update my signature block with the new hardware.
I had a two Aver 180 working on my old AMD on nPVR W7 64 as a trial, when I setup the new dual core AMD with a single Aver 180 and it worked fine but when I actually put in production with two Aver 180 cards they usually don't start according to nPVR but show up fine in the devices. If I uninstall the drivers and reload them they both work until the next reboot. I'm not sure where the problem is. I could only find Vista 64 drivers but got no complaints from W7. I tried moving cards around with some variation but I can't say for sure. I'm thinking this is a driver or MB bios issue; I'm just looking for some direction. I can't rule nPVR out since they show working in devices.
I have about 8 hours of troubleshooting this one issue. At least it only takes 35 seconds to boot.
Small quibble: the wiki page shows 46 buttons, and two of them don't exist, at least not on my 3(!) Hauppauge 45 button remotes. The FUNC key and the FULLSCREEN key are not on this remote. Moreover the SUBCC key is not documented (SUBCC aka "#"). Also, it might be useful to point out that the TEXT key is aka "*".
Maybe not an NPVR issue, but I need help. Every time I watch a recorded show and let it play to the very end of the recording, NPVR locks up and I have to ctrl-alt-del to kill the program. If I stop it before the end, no issues. Does not happen if I play the file via Media Player Classic. Using FFDSHOW as the codec in MPC. Not sure what is being used in NPVR. No problems in NPVR for non .ts video files.
Short summary: many channels in the UK "timeshare" their bandwidth with other channels, meaning the channels don't broadcast 24/7. When NPVR tunes into a non-broadcasting channel, it acts like it's frozen, and usually shows either a black screen with no OSD, or a frozen picture from the preview channel, again with no OSD.
I've been sitting on a plugin solution to this for a while - TimeSharer - which lets the user change the tuning information for these channels so that NPVR tunes into an alternative channel that *is* broadcasting during the times that they are normally off air.
I wanted one last discussion about it before releasing it though.

I guess the main question for sub is: is there really nothing (easy) you can do about it? NPVR seems to manage ok with radio stations (which obviously have no video) but perhaps a different type of graph is built for them?
My plugin works by changing the "local" cache of channel data within NextPVR.exe, so only Live TV is effected; scheduled recordings will still have the correct information in the DB.
To do this, it updates the database with these "fake" values, tells NPVR to reload its settings, then instantly resets the database to the correct values. This does mean the database contains the wrong information for a tiny fraction of a second, which worries me slightly, although technically it wouldn't change the database when a recording was scheduled because the channel must be on-air anyway. I still don't like doing it though. Perhaps there's a way I could override NextPVR.exe's details directly via the API, rather than via the DB?
I've tested it with DVB-T and DVB-S (with merged channels between them too). I have no idea how it would perform with anything else, but maybe that doesn't matter if it's a UK-only problem.

I've set up a manual recurring recording for TVNZ 7 daily from 6am to 8am. Those in New Zealand will notice that is the very important kidzone part of the TVNZ 7 schedule. There are many short shows and I don't want to record them individually.
The pending recordings show up in the pending recording list for each day but they never record. There is no failed recording, they just disappear. All my EPG based recordings work perfectly.
I've looked at the NRecord log and I can see that a wake up is scheduled to record the show (the machine is always on anyway, but I guess the wake up request means that the recording service sees the scheduled recording). My EPG is set to run at 2am and the wake-up requests following the update are missing that mornings scheduled recording. It's like the update is wiping it out.
For example:
After the EPG update on the 10/04/2011 2am there is a wakeup request for 05:58 on the 11th, but not for the 05:58 recording on the 10th. The pattern continues the next day, the wakeup request that was there for the 11th at 05:58 disappears. The show is never recorded, somehow the next scheduled recording is deleted at EPG update.
I have a WinTV-HVR-1600. and set everything hooked up and configured correctly. When I try to view "Live TV" the software says "Please Wait" as of now its been on this for 10min.
My setup is a P4 3.0 GHz with XP Pro SP3 and 1gb of Ram.
I did some digging, and it would appear that NPVR (current version) does NOT support playlists for music and/or videos. Can anyone confirm or deny that allegation senator?
NPVR Server and clients have been crashing a lot. Don't know if the logs go as far back as yesterday morning but here they are. The latest one happened this morning while I was watching live tv on the server and I was recording something in the background, I pressed the CHANNEL UP on my remote and the picture froze and NPVR wouldn't respond to any button presses. The only way to exit was by killing the process in Task Manager.
I watching Live TV and decided to record what was on. But then it got late, I exited Live TV to go to bed. What that did is that it also stopped recording the show that I was recording. How do I record after beginning Live TV without having to watch that show?
My main TV resolution is 1368 X 768 so it wonât be able to display a 1080p HD signal. The NPVR computer connected to this display runs at the native resolution so an SD signal must be being âup scaledâ by NPVR and the video card to 720p or to 1080p on my other smaller TV. It would seem to me that if I had an HD card in my computer, the same software and hardware should also be able to âdown scaleâ the 1080p HD signal to display on this 720p display. Has anyone tried this? I know it wont be as good as 1080p but if it works the picture should be better than SD.
