Bending ListView to my will (a variation on a theme)
Posted by: Ommina - 2011-04-11, 11:35 AM - Forum: Developers - Replies (19)

OK, having beaten the menu UI elements into submission, it's time to move on to the list view. So, a couple of questions if I may!

Is the a view mode in which the the list item uses the full horizontal length of the element? The closest I have found is ViewMode.LIST, but that leaves 50% (as a guess, I didn't measure) to the right for whatever metadata. One if my lists is episode titles, which get quite long, and don't have much for interesting metadata. I'd like to use the available real-estate instead of truncating, if possible. If there is nothing built in, is there a base class I can inherit to make rolling my own easier?

Next, would it be possible to have get/set methods for the "first visible item index" added to the listview? When returning from a lower level, I like to recreate the list as it was, instead of repositioning the selected index to the top. For example, if the user selects "Drama" (fourth from the top) from a list of genres, views that dramatic list, then returns, I want to reselect 'drama', and put it fourth from the top again.

Of course, if this is already possible, a point in the right direction would be appreciated.

Thanks once again!

  custom task overlay issue
Posted by: robert2011 - 2011-04-11, 12:42 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (13)

I am using a custom task to launch VLC to watch a HD (720p) DVB channel. When I am done, I quit VLC and return to GB-PVR, but I can no longer watch (SD) TV in GB-PVR via the "TV guide" plugin, I just get a purple-ish screen. TV works by using the "Live TV" plugin though. Closing and re-opening GBPVR fixes the problem completely. Running GBPVR in VMR9 mode (instead of overlay) also fixes the problem, but then (strangely) ffdshow doesn't de-interlace properly and I have to switch to Elecard. Unfortunately, Elecard doesn't do subtitles like ffdshow. For some reason EVR mode doesn't work any more.

  Remote control over the network
Posted by: soccerdad - 2011-04-11, 12:14 AM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (9)

We listen to net radio a lot. I have the dvr connected to an amplifier that sends the music out to several sets of speakers around the house. It would be great to be able to change the stations remotely from a laptop or netbook (and even perhaps an iPod touch, etc).

I know I can do this using VNC but think it would be great to be able to contol the server from a "remote client". This would also be handy to control the DVR playback while surfing on my laptop at night and watching recordings from the DVR. I would not have to pick up a remote to do this, just have the control progam minimized.

I don't know if this is technically possible, but I think it would be a unique and very useful feature.

deleted weekly manual recording etries keep coming back
Posted by: Mark Fordworth - 2011-04-10, 05:29 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (16)

I'm doing manual scheduling of recordings, rather than using the EPG. I had a number of programs all scheduled before I got hit with the daylight savings change over. OK, hate that these are based on GMT (which makes no sense), but I deleted the old entries and created new entries since the old ones were now an hour off. Kept having problems, so made little changes to the names so I could see what was really happening, for example my old recording entry was Simpsons and the new one is simpsons. But these old canceled weekly recordings with their old names keep coming back on to the schedule. And that presents a problem, since some conflict with other recordings that should be done at the same time, and other eat a lot of my notebook's limited hard disk space. I've deleted some entries many times, the last time was just yesterday, but they are back again. I'm guessing this is some side effect of the repeated programming that obviously can't show all future programs in the schedule, but I just can't seem to undo these old scheduled programs completely.

I would rather not completely uninstall npvr and start over, since I have a lot of new manual entries in there and since I finally have other parts working like the EPG, but I can't find any way short of that to make the old entries go away permanently.

Please advise on how I can delete the old manual entries in the schedule completely so that they don't keep coming back. I currently double click on the entry and then select "cancel", it seems to kill the entry and it is off the schedule for a while but it comes back.

Also, please consider that basing manual recordings internally on GMT makes no sense. I realize that you likely use EPG and so manual recording is of less interest to you, but having to change a large schedule twice a year inconveniences a lot of users, and added problems like these phantoms that keep returning to the schedule just add to that.

Strange horizontal line in middle of screen when playing video
Posted by: jboyter14 - 2011-04-10, 01:53 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (2)

When I play any kind of video in NPVR, I get a strange horizontal line in the middle of the screen. Its not a solid color.. hard to explain- almost like a ripping effect (I tried changing VSYNC options in ATI video driver, but did no good). And its not always noticeable. Has anyone else had this issue before? I'm using NPVR, SAF 5, EVR renderer, Windows XP. I'm also using older hardware which could have something to do with it; My other computers don't seem to have this issue. Also don't have this issue in GB-PVR. My specs are listed below. For more info about the older hardware you can see my other post here:

http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...-etc/page2

4gb flash card with IDE adapter (all video stored on server)
Some cheapo DVD drive
Antec 350w PS

  Scanning channels in version 201
Posted by: Basher52 - 2011-04-10, 12:50 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (2)

Not sitting with the HTPC right now but I think it was version 201 I installed.
The question is, how do I scan the frequencies that my cable use?
In 147 there was a program for it but in this one I just can't find where to do it.
I tried the searching, PVR-wiki and googling but nothing came up.

Am I that blind/blond :p

  Program MCE remote?
Posted by: arkennedy75 - 2011-04-09, 10:56 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

My cable company is switching all analog signals to digital. I need help setting up an IR blaster to control a Evolution DMS-2002U digital converter box. I have a MCE remote and am following the HIP setup guide on the wiki. I don’t understand the part about teaching the MCE remote codes. Before I teach codes to HIP, don’t I first need to program the MCE Remote to control the convertor box? I’m not sure how to do that? Can anyone help?
