  Brand New. PVR????
Posted by: GregS - 2011-03-28, 05:44 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (2)

Hi Gang,
I'm looking into trying to set up a recorder through my computer. My question concerns the TV Guide factor involved in this project. I presently use Cox cable and was wondering whether a GBPVR set up will provide the guide necessary to record and playback high definition TV through my computer. Additionally, does anyone know of a place that has the basic setup including hardware, plug-ins, etc that would be necessary to get me going. Any information you could provide would be greatly appreciated. Overall it's a great idea, but the amount of information available anded to the different configurations people use can overwhelm a person when trying to figure out their configuration.
Thanks Much
Greg S

  Cool

The channels on the Freesat service here in the UK are always jumping around (changing transponder, or video PID, or audio, or...).

I noticed last night - in my GBPVR setup - that another couple of channels had vanished. Turns out their video PIDs had changed.

But clever NPVR with its new way of tuning hadn't lost them.

Nice one sub!

EC168 not scanning - unhandled exception error
Posted by: robert2011 - 2011-03-28, 11:01 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (6)

My EC168 based tuner was working fine in GB-PVR, but haven't been able to get it to work NPVR. NPVR detects the tuner, but when I go to setup channels and click scan, the digital channel scanning window appears. Then I click OK there and NPVR crashes with the unhandled exception below, and I have to ctrl-alt-del to close NPVR. If I click on cancel first, it crashes to the desktop. I am using xp sp3 on an EEE 701 (plays 720p happily!). I have 3 mpeg2 decoders: cyberlink, moonlight-elecard and ffdshow. I have tried them all. I have several ac3 decoders too but haven't tried each one systematically. I will report back if I solve it.

  TS Files Missing Data

Help! I've been scratching my head on this for a while and it doesn't make sense. I'm looking for any advice on where to look for the problem.

I'm running NPVR 2.0.3 on Windows 2008 R2 (yes, it's a server OS, and maybe that's part of the problem...). My scheduled recordings are missing chunks, but they run to completion. There are NO errors logged in NRecord.log - they start as scheduled and end as scheduled. I'm running a Dvico USB tuner that I've been running on a Windows 7 machine for years without issues.

The only evidence is from Timing.info. Here's a sample - the last two columns are the calculated differences between the prior entry and this entry for the two sets of number so you can see the problem in the last few entries:

2646291 4939150288 858 1760808

3749780 4951140552 111509 83848

This occurs randomly during recordings and not every time. I've tried reloading everything and moved the output files to other local and network drives, but no luck. I'm really just interested in any clue anyone can give me that might point to the root of the problem.

Thanks in advance

Unstable livetv and question on recording folders
Posted by: rantzau - 2011-03-27, 07:49 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - No Replies

Hello

Have just given NPVR another try, and it seems to be more stable than last time I tried it.

My videos looks to be played nicely, but then I play livetv it still either hangs completely or the picture freezes from time to time.

I have a WHS there NPVR is installed, only for managing recordings, EPG and NPVR-WEB.

Installed NPVR on a win 7 as client. Version is 2.03.
I haven't installed patches yet, could this be the problem, are they there for v2.03, could not find them.

Another question, I have been spoiled with the possibility to make different recording folders in my old setup, with 4therecord. This means that then I record a cartoon for the kids it is placed in the folder KidsTV, then my wife is recording a boring documentary it is placed in BetinaTV, and then I record a movie it is placed in a movie folder(this is manually chosen then you make a new recording schedule). This makes it easier to fx. find kids related tv for the kids, then they want to use this.
Is this possible in NPVR?

Best regards
Rantzau

How to get Sky Digital channel guide into GBPVR?
Posted by: bobster - 2011-03-27, 05:45 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (34)

I have GBPVR setup using the Analog HighDef Recording Plugin and the Hauppage HD PVR as the source.

How do I get the Sky channels/numbers into the config so that I can change channels with the built in blaster and record from Sky?

I have the blaster working OK in Windows Media Center but that software is way too processor intensive and I want to record in a non-proprietary format.

Only one NMT can lunch MVPMCX2 at a time
Posted by: jt25741 - 2011-03-27, 05:29 PM - Forum: MVPMCX2 and other NMT stuff - Replies (3)

If I have on A110 logged in/running MVPMCX2 --- the other NMT fails to launch and ends up back at the NMT spash screen after trying for while. If I go to the other one and exit, then everything is fine for the first -- and visa versa.

I changed the mount command in the .cgi script to open read only(ro), thinking this was a file locking issue with the rw setting:

mount -t cifs //192.168.1.100/mvpmc /etc/mvpmc -o username=guest,password=xxx,ro

Yet this didn't work. Any other ideas on what is causing this single NMT only issue here?

BTW....if I leave open for ro -- does MVPMCX2 try and store any bookmark or other state info on the share that this will break?

Thanks

Issues with FF and Seeking on HD .ts files specifically
Posted by: jt25741 - 2011-03-27, 03:47 PM - Forum: MVPMCX2 and other NMT stuff - Replies (10)

With mvpmcx2 It seems most files in my library work fine with both FF and Seek (navigation button to time stamp). Yet with HD .ts files, I cannot seem to get more than few second jump...and this requires a repeated pushing of a button...and not faster or significantly faster than just allowing it to play due to the hesitation each time button is pressed. Time seek with these files does not work at all. So far it seems all the .ts HD files captured via my tuner to NPVR suffer from this through mvpmcx2. Now if I go to my normal NMT interface, these same files (if they are streamable at all), are all able to seek just fine (very important), and FF( slightly less important since it is really just fast play). But without any effective way to move past commercials on these .TS files in mvpmc(again other types work fine), usefulness is greatly diminished. Commercials are long and boring, needless to say Smile

Thanks for any help........is it a config problem? If so, which logs should can I zip up?

Regards

  Multiple DVB-T & DVB-S Devices
Posted by: jcjefferies - 2011-03-27, 12:52 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (8)

I am currently using a single tuner DVB-T USB stick and was looking at a DVB-S card to add to my setup. The question is how does NPVR handle multiple devices? Does it create a "TV Guide" for each separate device or are the channels combined into a single EPG?
