  Problem with switch to DST
Posted by: next - 2011-03-27, 12:52 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

Today I lost a recording that should have taken place at 12:00. Because of the switch to DST it suddenly was sheduled for 13:00.

At the first moment I thought it would be GB-PVR's fault, because it should have treated
"12:00" as local time instead of global.
Also, it seemed to be a very small issue, a result of the adaption of the times already in the gbpvr.db3. But reimporting the xmltv file did not help.

Than I examined the xmltv file and re-downloaded a new one (with xmltv 0.5.59).
In both, the one from yesterday and the one from today, I found:
<programme start="20110327120000 +0100" channel="xy">

My conclusion is that xmltv and gb-pvr assume global times - which I consider to be a good idea -, and the fault lies in the web page xmtlv grabs from. The web page uses wrong times, CET instead of CEST (Central European (Summer) Time) or local time.

I'm looking for a simple way to work around the problem.
First I thought there would be a time correction option in xmtv, but I didn't find any. Instead I found that xmltv seems to be prepared to use local time:

>xmltv.exe tv_grab_ch_search --capabilities
Timezone is +0200
baseline
manualconfig
cache

(c.f. <http://wiki.xmltv.org/index.php/XmltvCapabilities>)

Can I set a time offset in GB-PVR?
What are other recommendations?

-- Well, I found the option in GB-PVR... Smile

GB-PVR Configuration > Capture Sources > Edit > EPG Source [XMLTV Plugin] Settings
"Apply offset when importing listings [00:00] (Dont use this unless you have to)"

-- Hmmmmm! Sad
Different values for the time offset (-01:00, -02:00, +03:00) didn't show any effect in the Program Guide after "Empty EPG" and "Update EPG".
Actually, sometimes when entering the guide the shows seemed to have transformed times - which immediately reverted to the old ones.

What am I missing?
What else could I do?

  Hybrid/Combo Cards - Consensus
Posted by: steeb - 2011-03-27, 11:28 AM - Forum: NPVR Documentation - Replies (14)

Top of the day all,

I shall pass this up for discussion and see if we can get a consensus of opinion Big Grin

I feel slightly out of my depth here on this thread:

http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...ture-Cards

with regard to what is a hybrid or combo device?

Hauppauge would appear to use both appelations depending on their cards/devices. From what I can make out Pinnacle just use the term hybrid for a device that also has Analog.

And what is the difference in terms of NextPVR use between an Analog Tuner and Analog Capture? If a card has an Analog Tuner does that make it a Combo. And an Analog Capture a Hybrid? Hmmmmmmm......

looking forward to some words of wisdom Wink

cheers all

Channel 4 HD and sat ini
Posted by: DanielP - 2011-03-26, 06:12 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (40)

Hi,

Before I spend time trying to work this out, does anyone know the 3 digit number I need to add the 282.ini so it can see the new DVB-S2 FTA Channel 4 HD (UK)? I'm using the old PVR2, but I thought it might be good to publise that all of you who bought DVB-S2 cards for the UK (and didn't really need them) do now!!

ReClockOrNot - Use ReClock with NPVR
Posted by: imilne - 2011-03-26, 05:17 PM - Forum: Community Announcements - Replies (2)

ReClockOrNot is a simple plugin to allow ReClock to work correctly with NPVR, by disabling it when using .ts files, and enabling it for all other video types.

You can read about why it was needed in this thread

The plugin itself is available on the wiki:

Manual Recurring Recordings "Weekly" only showing first instance in Pending
Posted by: tiger66 - 2011-03-26, 03:05 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (9)

Hi,

I searched around about this topic, but couldn't find anything (I'm guessing b/c most users don't set up manual recurring recordings more often?). I'm using NPVR 2.0.3 under Windows 7 and I'm trying to set up manually recurring recordings "Weekly" for programs that start on a specific day of the week in a specific time slot. The recurring recording is set up properly, but only the first instance of the show is displayed under "Pending Recordings", even though there is enough EPG data to cover the following week as well (although, since this is a manually recurring recording, I'm not sure this even matters). Are manual recurring "Weekly" recordings only for a week at a time? That wouldn't make sense to me as the option would have no meaning.

Background to this is that recently I lost my analog channels (Thanks Comcast!). I had to switch over to digital and I have a DTA connected to my tuner card. Of course, the only frequency that comes out of the DTA is for channel 3 or 4 (I set mine to 4), so until I have time for a more elegant solution, I wanted to set up the manually recurring recordings to tape shows (always recording ch 4 from NPVR's perspective), but manually changing channels using the DTA's remote to the channel I'm really recording (not a huge issue right now since I only record 2 analog channels).

Is there something I'm doing wrong (or missing) in the whole process?

(I've attached the NPVR.log zipped.)

Thanks,
tiger

I'm not able to install mvpmcx2 3.3 on my PCH A110
Posted by: rameijn - 2011-03-26, 01:57 PM - Forum: MVPMCX2 and other NMT stuff - Replies (7)

Last week I was still using a previous version of mvpmcx on my PCH A110 and used GBPVR. On my PCH A110 I used a Webservice to call the GBPVR on my PC. In my PCH A110 there is a hard disk installed. NPVR was already working on my PC but I waited to switch over on the PCH. Last week I wanted to switch over to NPVR. I started to install mvpmcx2 3.3 with the NMT Community installer. I started to upgrade the mvpmcx to the new version but that took a very long time (30 minutes) so I had to break this upgrade off.
Then I removed mvpmcx with the NMT community installer but also this was not a success. The Web service on the PCH was gone but still I was not able to install the mvpmcx2 3.3 with the NMT Community installer. So on this moment nothing is working and I miss the NPVR in my living room.
The next thing I started is to install mvpmcx2 3.3 with the program NMTInstall2.exe but even that is not working.

I checked the installation with the NMT Syntax checker but I don't see a reason why the web service is not installed on my PCH.
Here is the log from the NMT checker:

  DVD Audio Renderer Settings
Posted by: imilne - 2011-03-26, 10:46 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (6)

Just a quick note to say that no matter what you select for this, it always seems to use the "Default" renderer option in the graph.

I only noticed because I've been messing around with the Reclock stuff and a plugin that changes the audio renderer on the fly. I know there's a bunch of other stuff not yet implemented with DVD playback, so this is maybe just another item to go on that list...

  NextPVR - Supported Capture Cards
Posted by: steeb - 2011-03-26, 10:29 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (61)

Dear all,

for reference it could be useful to start compiling a list of capture devices that people have working with NextPVR.

At a later point this information can be moved over to the wiki. I'll use post 2 on this thread to start a list.

Please post if you have a card/device working that isn't yet listed. Please include all available information such as connection interface (PCI, PCIe, USB etc).

Please post if you see missing or incorrect details listed for a card/device you have.

For analog devices please state if it is a tuning device or a capture device. Whether it has integrated HW (Hardware) encoding or relies on SW (Software) encoding and if you required further steps to get the device working by adding/editing an entry in AnalogDevices.xml. If the latter please also give the relevant entry from your AnalogDevices.xml file.

Please also post if there is a card you have tried that doesn't work.

cheers

  2.03 Exception on tuner config
Posted by: drlava - 2011-03-26, 05:42 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (10)

Hi, Just tried updating GBPVR to NPVR 2.03 tonight.

Everything went smoothly, but when it went to look for stations, it found none. This is with HD-Homerun which has been working great with GBPVR.

So, I updated the HD-Homerun software and firmware (which required .net 4 ugh) and restarted. Now I got an exception when trying to view the device config prop page (see attachment) in NPVR Setup.

So, I stopped the recording service and copied over the patch files listed here:
http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post407408

Now the service won't start: "Could not start the NPVR Recording Service on Local Computer Error 1067: The process terminated unexpectedly.

  Some issues with Install
Posted by: jt25741 - 2011-03-26, 03:50 AM - Forum: MVPMCX2 and other NMT stuff - Replies (26)

I ran NMTInstall2 without errors selecting everything but installing NPVR, which was already running.

I do not have simple file sharing configured though. I went to A110 and setup a manual SMB share to mvpmc with my username/password. I connect fine to share... but nothing happens. If I use the file browser, I see N-PVR.html from the NMT. If I select that file I see on the following hidef looking HTML page.

N-PVR
N-PVR via Network Browser
N-PVR via USB

If I select any one of these with the remote, nothing happens. Anything else I need to tweak on the server side to make this go? Repercussions of not using simple file sharing?

Thanks for the help

Jim
