  Switch from component to HDMI
Posted by: steveum - 2011-03-09, 02:04 AM - Forum: MVPMCX2 and other NMT stuff - Replies (1)

I have two NMT devices. They both use the same mvpmc share on my NPVR server. They both are using component video to connect to the TVs. I want to switch one of these to use a HDMI cable instead. Will I need to make any changes to the mvpmcx2 configuration files? Will I be able to have one using component while the other uses HDMI?

I currently have this line uncommented out in my startmeup file:

/etc/mvpmc/mvpmcx2 -m 1080i -o COMPONENT --frequency 60 &

  Sony video card (ENX-26) support?
Posted by: JeffP - 2011-03-09, 01:34 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (63)

Hey guys,

I saw that my original post has received 18 sets of eyeballs but no comments. Please help if possible! I tried using Sage TV and was severely disappointed. The continued search brought me to NPVR, and this seems more like a "community".

Given my Sage TV experience I know that my card is working (and the correct drivers installed), so what do I need to do to get NPVR to recognize the card (device)? Is this something that GB-PVR would have addressed OK but just isn't yet built into NPVR?

I'm running Windows XP or this wouldn't be an issue. I was running the XP Media Center Edition on the older machine, so support was "natural". I'm not yet running Windows 7, where support would again be "natural". I'm in the doughnut hole, so to speak, and would love to be able to record programs for later viewing. Seems a shame to have a card but not be able to take advantage of it...

Many thanks, Jeff

  Default skin selection
Posted by: trummel - 2011-03-08, 08:15 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (4)

This is a question to which I really should already know the answer, but how does nPVR keep track of which variation of the default skin it is supposed to be using?

I ask because on my 2.0.3 clients, if I choose Default: Texture_-_Wood for instance, that is the skin I get every time i start it up. However on my server, it changes as I select it, but it goes back to the Default: Abstract_-_Graddif skin every time I restart nPVR. If I choose a completely different skin (blue retro for instance) that sticks ok.

I can see the skin section in the config.xml, but that is just set to "default" on both the client and on the server.

I've also looked through the logs, but can't see any reference to the skin being changed at all.

  Music jukebox function
Posted by: fuzzweed - 2011-03-08, 07:54 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - No Replies

is there a jukebox / random all feature available on npvr or a plugin yet???
I've been running nPVR secretly in the den and it's looking great, but can't kill off GBPVR in the family rooms until the music side of things passes the WAF test...

DVB-S Scan Problem - PCTV Dual Sat Pro 4000i
Posted by: Graham_Shepherd - 2011-03-08, 03:47 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

Hi

I am working on a new install of NPVR 2.0.3 on a new install of Vista Ultimate having had a working GBPVR & NPVR Beta setup under XP.

I have 3 tuners;

1 x Hauppage Nova DT DVB-T card with 2 tuners, and
2 x Pinnacle PCTV Dual Sat Pro 4000i cards with 2 tuners each

All tuners are detected in NPVR and I had no problems tuning the DVB-T tuners.

However, when I scan the DVB-S tuners the Digital Channel Setup tuning dialog box appears and nothing else happens.

Depending upon whether I have selected 0280 Freesat only it just sits there "Scanning: 12607/V/28250/3/4 (DVB-S2)" or 0282 Astra 2 Eurobird 1 it just sits there "Scanning 10714/H/22000/0".

There are no error messages.

I then updated the device drivers on the DVB-S cards but this did not help. But now I have 2 sets of DVB-S tuners showing, one set is shown as "not present". I can change the redundant tuners to "not enabled" but cannot delete them.

NPVR shows the devices as PCTV Stargate Tuner.

I seem to recall that there was something odd about these tuners in the late GBPVR or early NPVR days when they were overrunning the input buffer but this had been fixed.

I've attached log files - Hopefully someone can help please?

Many thanks

Graham

Aspect ratio problems - auto is always letterboxed on 16:9 display
Posted by: JP23 - 2011-03-08, 03:02 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (11)

Hi,

First of all, sorry for asking so many questions lately, and thanks for all the help.

I have a 16:9 display running at 1024x768. TV Shape is set to 16:9.

The UI takes up the whole screen, but I'm finding that all video is being incorrectly letterboxed. With AR set to auto, 16:9 content is being shown in 2.35:1, and 2.35:1 content is squashed down by a similar proportion.

I've tried different renderers and decoders and nothing seems to make any difference.

Any idea what might be going wrong?

Digital radio on client keeps stopping.
Posted by: JP23 - 2011-03-08, 09:17 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (5)

Hi,

Playing digital radio (DVB-T) on my client PC isn't working properly. Playback starts and last for anything between about 20 seconds and maybe 2 minutes, before it just stops.

TV will play from the same tuner for hours with no problem, and the same radio station will play on the server with no problems too.

I've attached my logs, any idea what's going wrong?

ENX-26 video card from Sony Vaio
Posted by: JeffP - 2011-03-08, 04:06 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - No Replies

Hey all, I moved a video card from my old Sony Vaio and put it into a Dell chassis. I've downloaded and installed the necessary so that the card is working, but it isn't recognized by NPVR. I checked one of the links for "analog hardware" (which I believe this is) and saw stuff to help me load Hauppauge software/drivers. I don't believe this is Hauppauge hardware (but I could be wrong) and so didn't follow the links. Help! I know the card is working because I downloaded Sage TV and it was working fine... Jeff

  Cannot play my TS files
Posted by: Dave_M - 2011-03-08, 02:48 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (16)

NPVR cannot open my TS files. Please may I have option for choosing the filter to open TS files? I want to try the media portal one. Since it is all based on direct show framework, I'm hoping it will just work.

EDIT: See post #8 for problematic sample
