NextPVR has stopped working. Problem playing .mkv, .mp4, and some .flv.
Posted by: Kyle - 2011-03-10, 05:19 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (4)

I've installed Haali Media Splitter, FLV Splitter, and ffdshow. I have an assortment of .mkv, .flv, and .mp4 files that all use the AVC1 video codec that all play back fine using Windows Media Player. However, I can't get them to play back in GBPVR or NPVR. They both crash. The last few lines in the PVRX2.exe-native.log were:

2011-03-09 21:22:55.164 INFO DirectShowPlayerBase::playVideoFile(Z:\Videos\1-Pussycat Dolls - Sway.mkv)

2011-03-09 21:22:55.265 VERBOSE getSetting(PreferredMpegPlaybackDemux)

The last few lines in the NPVR.log were:

2011-03-09 21:50:53.973 [DEBUG][1] CheckCache() indicates:C:\Users\Public\NPVR\skin\Default\Videos\folder.jpg is not cached

2011-03-09 21:50:54.531 [DEBUG][1] Adding EVR renderer

I've tried setting the H264 codec in config to both the Microsoft DTV-DVD codec as well as ffdshow. Windows media player must be using the Microsoft DTV-DVD codec since disabling the AVC1 codec in ffdshow has no effect. Again Windows Media Player plays all of the files fine. What are GBPVR and NPVR doing differently ? I thought if Windows Media Player played the files so would NPVR.

Thanks,

Kyle

  Where's the Magic Comskip button?
Posted by: Grenlen - 2011-03-10, 05:08 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (2)

Oh how I've missed you guys... Lost my DVR about a year ago and have just now been able to get a new one up and running and I see that sub has been really busy.

Nice work on NPVR

amongst some hardware Issues I'm having with the digital tuners I've been able to get my old analog tuner back up and running and it's recording shows pretty well.
but I can't seem to get/find the settings to activate commercial skipping and browsing the forums i thought I read that npvr has a new way of doing things.

Is comskip (or a variation) installed in NPVR? Should it already be running or do I need to initialize it some how?

Thanks for your help guys.

  HD-PVR issues
Posted by: SickBoy - 2011-03-10, 03:40 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (1)

Tonight I tried adding a new channel, using the Composite input on my HDPVR - which I otherwise have set up to tune a bunch of channels using the Component input. Was hoping to be able to connect my VCR to it, in an ongoing effort to digitize all my VHS tapes so I can throw them out - so no EPG source or channel changer was set up for this channel.

Long story short - I wasn't able to "watch" what was coming in on that "channel" (via the composite input) and NPVR was acting oddly and I had to kill the program manually to get out of it. I restarted the recording service and removed the channel from the HDPVR device. Now I am experiencing intermittent issues with trying to use the other channels (from my cable box via component input) and am intermittently getting "Device was unable to start" errors even after cycling the power on the HDPVR.

Help? I just want to get back to where I was before attempting to use the composite inputs on my HDPVR.

  Version History or features...
Posted by: re-Barr - 2011-03-10, 02:36 AM - Forum: NPVR Documentation - Replies (2)

So I was looking at some forum posts of people not knowing that some feature exists. I was thinking that it could be good to have a list of things like sub puts in his release post. But going back with all the past npvr versions. It would be nice to see those features that have been in a few versions but new people may not know exists.

Something like:

2.0.3
- fixed an issue with VMR9/VMR7 aspect ratio
- fixed a couple of PC client issues (rough channel changes in live tv, sometimes hanging when stopping).
- fixed a bug that could cause high network utilisation when streaming to client PC.
- fixed issue with 'HDPVR IR Blaster' option.
- fixed a QAM scanning issue.
- added 'VMR9 Custom' renderer option.
- added ability to get DVB listing from another device. For example, you might get tv listing for an DVB-C or analog channel, from a DVB-S device in the same machine (even if the channel isnt listed on the DVB-S capture source)
- fixed a problem with manual recurring 'any channel' recordings.
- fixed a schedule direct problem when multiple lineups of the same name exist.
- fixed a problem with custom screen savers being forgotten
- fixed a database lock error that could occur when recordings are renamed from .ts to other extensions.
- added ability to press 'Play' key on recording and have it play without the popup.

1.5.36
- new Default skin, from Hairy's great work on Slate.
- now able to click on time line to skip during playback
- added Schedules Direct support. Has nicer integration that GBPVR did, allowing you to select the lineup etc. (I'd only recommend it on clean setups at this stage though, rather than trying to move existing xmltv channels to schedules direct)
- now runs [DATA]\scripts\wakeup.bat when resuming from standby/hibernate, before performing any new recordings.
- added ability to disable DVB/ATSC EPG updates that happen when watching live tv.
- fixed a problem with the daemon tools browse button in the setting screen.
- fixed a problem with resuming playback of a recording, where playback position would report as 12:48.
- added support for -direct command line like GBPVR had.
- added QAM support or a couple more devices
and so on.

Reboot of mvpmcX2o watching Swedish TV4
Posted by: NewUserIdAgain - 2011-03-09, 09:29 PM - Forum: MVPMCX2 and other NMT stuff - Replies (5)

I have updated to 2.0.3 including the latest mvpmcX2o. The update works fine apart from that I'm unable to watch TV4, one of the free-view channels in Sweden. This is a new behavior after the update and I can watch TV4 on the NPVR server without a problem.

As soon as I try to watch TV4 live mvpmcX2o reboots, this is 100% repeatable. All other channels work including TV6 that is on the same mux.
A file is created in my live TV directory on the server and that file is watchable in the media player.

  Spontaneous reboot of mvpmcX2o

Martin,

Recently I am experiencing reboots of my mvpmcX2o's. The log attached shows one of these reboots where its resting on the main NPVR menu and then just restart. The PCH is NOT rebooting.

  USB / External drives
Posted by: NumberFive - 2011-03-09, 04:44 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (8)

Hi,

Although this would be easy to implement with Shortcuts*, I was thinking it would be useful to have a menu item that allowed you to browse USB / external drives for all media content (music / videos / pictures), a bit like how many DVD players these days allow.

Thanks Smile

* Still holding out hope sub re-implements this GBPVR feature in NPVR - http://bit.ly/hPjVHN Smile

  "NextPVR Has Stopped Working" 2.0.3
Posted by: pal123 - 2011-03-09, 02:43 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (25)

Seems to have started after I loaded 2.0.3 and started recording programs with NextPVR instead of GBPVR. When I open NextPVR the message "NextPVR Has Stopped Working" appears and after a few seconds the program closes. Seems to go away with a reboot but reappears possibly after a recording. Any suggestions?

Note: It also seems to stop future recordings until a reboot.

UK Freeview HD Aspect Ratio - Anomaly?
Posted by: Lao Pan - 2011-03-09, 01:15 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (17)

Setting the aspect ratio to auto with mpeg2 sd has been working fine 16.9 content and 4.3 always show correctly.
I have just started using the UK DVB-T2 HD Channels with PDVD10 and DivX codecs - if the aspect ratio is set to auto the picture always starts in 4.3 ratio. If I then cycle through the different aspects, auto will then pick it up as 16.9 and change to a full screen.
The only way to get it to start correctly is to set it to Fill then remember last (or fill) in config screen. Then of cause all the 4.3 programs are stretched out to much!
Picture size on these HD channels appears to be 1440 x 1080i anarmorphic.

  Press for HD
Posted by: ydekmekji - 2011-03-09, 07:07 AM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (8)

Comcast has a feature where if the channel has an HD equivalent, you can press a button on a channel and it will take you to the HD equivalent. So on the wishlist is an option to link channels where, if there is an HD option, i can click and watch the broadcast in HD rather than enter the channel number.

Another option is to group channels together. For example, create a 4.1, 4.2, 4.3
