  Windows 7 x32 or x64
Posted by: ydekmekji - 2011-02-01, 04:14 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (4)

I just installed Windows 7 x32, but i'm wondering if I should have installed the 64 version instead... i have 4 gigs in the system (so only 3 are being used). It's only used for npvr... is it worth the trouble of reinstalling windows?

Posted by: elbryyan - 2011-02-01, 03:45 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (6)

I want to combine some movies that come in two DVD's like the Lord of the Rings extended edition. I can rip the seperate disks into two different files but now I want to combine them into one movie file. Anybody know of a good tool to use for this? Thanks.

  Beta: TV Listings 3.4
Posted by: alibert - 2011-02-01, 11:35 AM - Forum: TV Listings - Replies (30)

Hi,

I've implemented support for categories / genres in the tv listings plugin and the xmltvextras utility. As I'm not sure if it works with all the xmltv epg-sources around, I'd like to ask if some of you could try out a beta version of the plugin and the utility and provide feedback if everything works as expected.

I've attached a .zip-package to this post that contains updated versions of "TV Listings.dll", "XmltvExtras.exe", and a modified "TV Listings.xml" skin file for the default skin.

To try it out, do the following:
- make backup copies of your existsng data
- replace the appropiate files with the ones from the download
- execute the xmltvextras utility (no longer need to pass the path to your xmltv files as parameter)
- assign colors to genres using the tv listings settings form

Thanks for your feedback.

  Special characters in file names
Posted by: Nistrod - 2011-02-01, 05:39 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - No Replies

They have just started showing $#*! My Dad Says.
This is recorded into a directory called $#! MY DAD SAYS (no *).
Its really hard to postprocess files like this - CMD has a tendency to strip out exclamation marks and think they are variable names.

Given that NPVR removes the *, can we remove ! as well?

  XMLTVExtras can't find Listings Database
Posted by: skreien - 2011-02-01, 02:55 AM - Forum: TV Listings - Replies (1)

When I try to run xmltvextras it tells me it can't find the database.

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\NPVR\Scripts>XmltvExtras.exe "C:\xmltv\tvlistings.xml"
Reading C:\xmltv\tvlistings.xml...
Found 4511 programmes containing extra data.

Error connecting to database: TV Listings database not found
Exiting.

Thanks for the help. I'd love to get the extra data in the EPG.

  Recordings Playback Issues
Posted by: z06racer66 - 2011-02-01, 02:47 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (6)

Hey everyone,

I'm running nPVR 1.5.36 patch 5 + and I have a couple of playback issues with my recordings. The first which has been an issue earlier for me is that when I skip forward multiple times, sometimes it will go into slow motion. I need to skip forward some more to get back into normal playback mode. The other, which I just noticed tonight while watching a recording of Fringe is that the timeline went to zero length (position 0 and length of 0) when I was about 2/3's way through. I tried stopping the recording and I realized I could no longer resume where it left off.

Attached is my npvr log.

Thanks.

EPG update not complete - no guide data after 3 days
Posted by: qualsite - 2011-02-01, 01:45 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (12)

Even though the xmltv file has data through 13Feb, the data stops filling in the Guide at 03Feb 1600, leaving only (no show details). I don't see anything obvious in the log. I thought that there might have been some recording conflicts and tried eliminating those, but that didn't help. Attached is the last log after the last NPVR restart and EPG update attempt. Any ideas??

Hi Sub+Others

well downloaded npvr for the 1st time yesterday (looked at gbpvr years ago but decided mce was the route for me - not anymore)

Im mightly impressed at how the platform has panned out and have already notice image quality better than mce. and despite a few codec problems to be resolved I can imagine being very happy.

However Im wondering whether theres an idea as to the roadmap for npvr that is shareable and also whether anyone is creating an iplayer app for UK users ?

apologies in advance for putting this in probably the wrong thread

Si

  BSOD hcw89.sys
Posted by: Lindsay - 2011-02-01, 12:19 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (3)

Just had a 'Stop D1' today on my Win7 64bit system and it said hcw89.sys was the culprit. Thus is a hauppauge driver file.

My HVR2200 driver is vers 28162 from June last year and is the latest.

Google shows I am not alone but the reports seem to be for a couple of years ago.

Peculiar that this is the only one I've had as I have had the HVR2200 for a couple of years.

Anyone else seen this??

  PCH crashing
Posted by: roy - 2011-01-31, 11:59 PM - Forum: MVPMCX2 and other NMT stuff - Replies (63)

I have been experiencing crashes lately on both my A-100 and A-110. Mostly it seems to happen when restarting a recording that just finished (sometimes comskip cuts off the last show bit so I go back to watch it) but I think it also happens when just starting any random recording (the family reports). What happens is - start watching a recording, remote is unresponsive, then after about 10 seconds, black screen which requires power cycling to reboot the PCH. This doesn't happen all the time, and I can't always reproduce it, but it has happened enough now to affect WAF and be a pia.

Attached are logs which show me watching SNL, it ends, I replay it, and PCH crashes. Let me know if any more information would be helpful for diagnosis.

Thanks
