I need help with Npvr setup
Posted by: drefk2000 - 2011-01-27, 01:45 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (2)

Hi.

I have used GB-PVR for quite some time and have had very little problem with it.
Now I would like to run NPVR instead.

I downloaded the latest file and installed it. Prior to this I made sure that no old GB-PVR processes was running.

When the installation is done I start the setup and go to my tv-card.
I search for channels and a lot of them are found. However there is a few problems.

1. Only a couple of channels shows up with their name, the rest shows as Unknown,[numbers]

2. When the search is done an error message pops up, saying something about "unable to bind object to 'something'" (I will check again when I get home and edit my post).
I have to press ignore about 40 times to be able to continue.

3. When I try to watch the channels (Unkown or otherwise) The screen goes black and no sound is playing.

4. The EPG finds nothing, even for the channels that has been identified.

My HTPC:

Intel Core 2 duo
4 Gb ram
ATI gfx (ati wonder 850, I think)
Windows XP SP 3, all updates applied.

My tv-card:

Floppy DTV-C CI

My tv-provider:

Comhem, Sweden

I will provide more information when I have a chance, but maybe this is enough to get your brains grinding.

  NPVR Rocks but .......
Posted by: goldberg - 2011-01-27, 01:24 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

So I'm a new user to npvr. I started with gbpvr and had a tuner problem so sub sent me over to npvr and its been great since. However, I have a video issue that I'm not sure how to correct. My live tv comes in great (using OTA) however, when there is moderate to fast movement, I see blurring images instead of a nice crisp image. Say for instance, I'm watching the news, anchors look great and if they move their hands, I see a square wave instead of a nice clean edge. I'm using ffd for my video and audio running on Windows XP and renderer VRM9. I applied all the patches last night and still have the same problem. Any thoughts to what I could try?

BTW, my girlfriend loves NPVR and she is totally a non-techy person. Only downfall of all this, I now have to record "The Bachelor" for her, thats just not right Smile

"Keep digital graphs constructed" - what is it for?
Posted by: McBainUK - 2011-01-27, 11:13 AM - Forum: NPVR Documentation - Replies (4)

From the 1.5.31 beta available (6th September) Announcement thread:

sub Wrote:added a setting to force digital graphs to stay constructed, giving slightly quicker live tv / recording startup times, and to hopefully work around a problem with HDHR device.
If it speeds things up why would it be an option and unticked by default...?

does NPVR support AVerMedia HD DVR?
Posted by: bumper2007 - 2011-01-27, 04:14 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

hello, i have a HD capture box from AVermedia (http://www.avermedia.com/avertv/Product/...spx?Id=520), something works like Hauppague HDPVR (i suspect that they are somehow the same hardware inside). Anyway I tried it on NPVR a month ago, unfortunately nothing show in the Device page. I will try again in few days, but it will be nice if someone may help and give some advice if possible. Thanks Smile

how to tune the bit rate when capturing with PVR-150?
Posted by: bumper2007 - 2011-01-27, 04:05 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (2)

hi support team, I have setup NPVR to capture through my PVR-150 successfully, it works great! Thanks for your support information.Smile

Now my questions are:
1. the capture bit rate is different from the native WinTV program. NPVR generates the output video files with 4500kbps. WinTV program generates 8000kbps. Where can I get this change? I have checked "config.xml" in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\NPVR, but can't figure out which parameters should I change.

2. I set the manual recording through the web interface. how can i set it to save as .MPG instead of .TS? I know the files are actually in MPEG format, but it would be better to have the extension saved exactly as MPG.

Thanks.

  conflict management
Posted by: johnsonx42 - 2011-01-27, 12:30 AM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (3)

Are we going to get any conflict detection and management any time soon? The townsfolk here are fueling their torches and sharpening their pitchforks because "V" failed to record last night. Some shows on other networks that normally record on other nights suddenly showed up in the same time slot as V, and those recorded instead.

In this case Hulu will probably keep the disgruntled folk at bay, but conflict detection/alerting would be nice to have at last.

  encryted frame drops
Posted by: tcmy95 - 2011-01-26, 10:36 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (16)

Firstly I would like to say that Npvr is a huge step forward from Gbpvr. I used to love GBPVR but it was a pig to configure all the encrypted channels for EPG etc. With NPVR its a child's play but I have a slight problem which I didn't have with GB. When watching encrypted channels it seems to drop frames, this never used to happen with GB and mdapi. Has anyone else experienced this? Is it possible to use the old Mdapi with Npvr?

This has both DVB-S and DVB-T tuners in it.

Does anyone know if you can use these simultaneously in GBPVR/NPVR?

  ExternalDisplay - NPVR Release
Posted by: ralphy - 2011-01-26, 09:02 AM - Forum: Add-ons (3rd party plugins, utilities and skins) - Replies (12)

I must admit that I was a little surprised that until recently, there have been no requests for this plugin to be updated for NPVR. I figured that this meant either folks no longer use the plugin, or have delayed migrating to NPVR for other reasons.

Prior to my finding out about the Soundgraph API, I had updated ExternalDisplay for NPVR. Here is the installer file. I have not yet implemented the Soundgraph API. kindt-nick has a plugin here that uses the Soundgraph API.

This plugin might be useful for users of other displays that are not supported by kindt-nick's plugin.

To install this plugin:

  1. download the new version below
  2. if you already have this plugin with GBPVR, make a backup of the xml configuration file in the GBPVR\plugins\ExternalDisplay folder if you have customised your message, and backup your LCDHype drivers.
  3. uninstall the old ExternalDisplay via the uninstaller
  4. install the new version. It will install into the NPVR program and data folders as defined in the registry.
  5. copy your backup xml file and LCDHype Driver to the NPVR\plugins\ExternalDisplay folder.
  6. run the ExternalDisplay configuration
  7. start NPVR
I have ExternalDisplay working with iMon version 7.91.x. I found that I needed to copy SG_VFD.dll (version 5.1) from the older iMon software into the c:\program files\Soundgraph folder.

There are no real new features in this release other than the display of the current playback position, and the ability to extract .WMA metadata.

Enjoy Smile

As usual, if there are problems, please post logs with debug and ExternalDisplay extensive logging enabled.
