  Schedule a recording
Posted by: ioan - 2011-01-28, 08:21 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

How do I schedule/start a recording? Let say I have the following record in PROGRAMME oid 14792. Do I just write all the infos in RECORDING_SCHEDULE?
I'm working on a Roku channel that will play all the recordings and I want to make it search programs and schedule / cancel recordings. Also, is there a way to get some gb-pvr or npvr art (images, icons, etc) to make the Roku channel looks like it belongs with GB/N-PVR?

Thanks.

  Harmony 600 setup help
Posted by: jam_zhou - 2011-01-28, 07:45 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (3)

Hi, I just got a Harmony 600 and was wondering what you guys are telling the Harmony 600 as your "GBPVR center"? I just typed in MCE and chose any MCE station I found. I also noticed that there was actually a GBPVR selection - has anyone tried that?

Also how do I tell the Harmony not to turn off the HTPC when I press the all off button or when I switch activities which don't use the HTPC?

Any simple way to stop a recording in progress?
Posted by: Mark Fordworth - 2011-01-28, 06:51 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

I expect that I'm over looking something, but I have yet to find a clean simple way to stop a recording in progress. I've scheduled recording manually, usually weekly, but then something has preempted the show that I wanted to record and I just want to stop the recording in progress without removing or impacting future weekly recordigs. But I can't find any control to stop the recording, as it is going on in the background and I can't find anything on the NPVR GUI to stop it.

This isn't a major problem, I just deleted the TS file after the recording finished. But it seems like there should be some way to interact with the recording process that I'm missing.

  program guide for wrong channels
Posted by: Mark Fordworth - 2011-01-28, 06:16 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (29)

I'm new to NPVR. Been using it for a couple of weeks now, really like it over the ATI Catalyst junk I was using with my USB ATI TV Wonder 600 tuner. I'm sure I have a lot more to learn about it, as I read the documentation I see hints of lots that I have not found but the learning curve is a bit steep for me. I'm having problems with just the basics.

So my first problem is that I can get an EPG (apparently off the air) but it is very sparsely populated and even worse, what it does get it filled in for the wrong station! I was very pleased when NPVR was able to recognize my tuner and do a channel scan, but I can't figure out how to address this so I have only been able to use the manual record mode. An example of this problem is that UNC-EX is showing a program guide, with some shows apparently correct, but it is showing NBC17 weather at 1 PM (The third channel on a different stations transmission). None of the NBC17 channels are showing any schedule, but a program that will be on the main NBC17 channel at 3 PM is showing up in the guide as being on WRAZ-H (yet another station, and the program in question will not be on that station).

I've emptied and updated the EPG in settings, but the problem persists. Under the channels setting I'm using DVB/ATSC EPG, I get errors if I try to select the other sources (and after getting the errors there are things to fill in that I don't understand). Is there something more that I could do to get a working EPG? Configuration that I may have failed to do? An on-line EPG would be great, but I could live with the over the air EPG if I had to, if only I could get it filled in accurately.

Thanks in advance for any help.

"Quick Record" shows disappear after Update EPG?
Posted by: Anthony - 2011-01-28, 06:04 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (5)

I am using the current NPVR version 1.5.36.

Today I discovered that shows I have scheduled with the "quick record" option disappear from the TV guide after an EPG update (after a nightly update, or even using the manual Update EPG operation in the Channels setup).

The show IS listed in the pending recordings list, it just doesn't show up in the TV guide. Because of this, I have accidentally recorded multiple copies of several shows before I discovered this problem.

Recurring shows (same day and time every week) are displayed and record fine.

The problem appears to be limited to Quick Recordings. It also appears to be caused by the EPG update, as I can schedule a recording, exit NPVR, and open it back up with the show still selected in the TV guide. When I run the EPG update, the quick recordings all disappear from the TV guide.

Can anyone else duplicate this, and if so is there a solution?

Thanks,

Anthony

  .TS file format ?
Posted by: drdon - 2011-01-28, 02:04 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (26)

I have used the old GBPVR for several years without any issues. I actually hadn't been on the forum in a long time (years) and decided to see what was new. Long story short I have downloaded the new program. Everything seems to be OK except the recorded file format. In the past I have used Realplayer to watch the recorded shows. However the new program saves in a .ts format which does not seem to be supported. I have gone through the settings in both the new program and the old and have not found a fix. Any thoughts. I searched this morning and it appears there is a program called VLC which will play hte .ts format, I may try that next. I can play the recording through the new program but the quality/controls do not seem as good Realplayer.

  PC to standby during PostProcessing
Posted by: Nistrod - 2011-01-28, 07:37 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (6)

NPVR has code to keep the PC awake while recording, right?
Does this code also keep it awake when running PostProcessing.bat?
I do a conversion to .mpg, which can take a while, and I noticed the PC was asleep in the middle.

Any chance of keeping the PC awake until post processing completes?

  Problem with recordings
Posted by: peanut - 2011-01-28, 06:30 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (18)

I have 2 DVB cards one setup for TVNZ and the other setup for other channels and got 2 analog cards setup with all analog channels on both
I had 2 dvb recordings start at 8.30pm to 9.30pm and one at 9.30pm to 11.30pm
Started witching one 8.30 recording at 9.30 with nmt (was still recording) at 10.00pm npvr (in pending) said 3 recordings were still recording (only one should have been) couldn’t stop 2 recordings so went to computer and tried there couldn’t stop there
Checked the files the 2 at 8.30 recordings wasn’t increasing and the 9.30 recording was 0kbs
So copped logs (logs 1) then stopped recording service. In pending the 2 8.30 recordings said they failed (but they were 90% there). The 9.30 recording said it was still recording so copped logs (logs2)
So restarted computer

Is there any way to change the TV Guide from guide2.aspx to guide.aspx? I prefer the simpler version especially when looking at it on my phone.
