  HAUPPAUGE WinTV HVR-1200 PCI-E DVB-T Tuner
Posted by: wannabepvr - 2011-01-28, 03:51 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (2)

Just a confirmation that the digital side of this tuner works no problem in NPVR 1.5.36
This card is not presently listed on the Wiki.

I haven't tried the analogue as I have no need.

Happy man, as the PCIE was appealing so I took a punt picked it up cheap on ebay!

Choosing the good lineup in GBPVR
Posted by: Chapon - 2011-01-28, 03:20 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

I run NPVR in one of my computers and GBPVR on another one. My NPVR is set for analog channels and I can choose the right lineup in schedules direct. Using an STB with my GBPVR, I did not find a way to choose the digital lineup (they seemed to merge together) so I had to cancel the analog lineup at Schedulesdirect. Any solution?

  DroidSans fonts
Posted by: Jaggy - 2011-01-28, 01:17 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (6)

As I discovered yesterday Hairy included the droidsans fonts in his release of the Slate skin unfortunately this is a 26Mb download just to get some fonts & as they are needed for the correct display of default in 1.5.36 I did some Googling & it looks like they are free to distribute from what I can gather here http://code.google.com/webfonts/family?f...s#download so I was wondering would it be a good idea to include the link in the NPVR sticky? Here is a copy of the license as well.

  Npvr + avc-3610
Posted by: Carlito - 2011-01-28, 12:34 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (20)

Hey,
I've been wanting to get NPVR running since I"m still using GBPVR. I just installed the latest version and my AVC-3610 dual tuner is not showing up.
I also have a Hauppauge PVR-150 which shows up fine under devices.

Any suggestions on how to get NPVR to recognize the AVC-3610 dual tuner?

Thanks

  Muxes, Codecs, Transcoders
Posted by: zehd - 2011-01-28, 12:10 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (12)

Hi all. My eyes are literally falling out onto the desk as I type this - I've done so much reading. OK, not literally, but... :-)

Anyway, I'm finally taking a real look at DTV as there are three decent ATSC OTA channels in my area. I'm using my Haup HVR-1600 card for this.

I should also say that I'm trying all this with GB-PVR 1.4.7. So far I don't think I've come across anything that is really app specific, so I'll stick with the 'opponent' I know..

I'm kind of disappointed that the wiki doesn't have a more straightforward walkthough. I suppose I might try to tie it all together as soon as I understand it better... (the codecs page is missing some stuff!)

---
In the analog days, I knew that I could have a fairly weak Recording Server, record a show (with the hardware encoder PVR150)... even if that same machine couldn't playback the show..

I'm pretty sure I've fallen into the same boat here. My server can record a TS file, though it really doesn't like playing back the file...

I'm pretty sure that the TS file is OK, as it will play on a faster machine..I've also tried the cyberlink mux and output to MPG.

Well, here are my questions...

The digital files are huge, specifically in dimensions (1920x1080).. either as TS or MPG output. Is there a mux, where one can set the output dimensions. I suspect that that would require more grunt from the server.. the stream is probably 1920x1080 and so if there's no downsizing, then less work... But is there a real time solution?

Asking people about codecs, is like asking them which team to cheer for, or which gas station has better gasoline (petrol)... But it seems my system is having trouble viewing the large TS (or MPG) files, whenever I use the usual codecs (like available in SAF)

So aside from getting a faster machine, what would be some ideas to get more grunt...? I've done quite a bit of tweaking already

And finally, post processing: I am AGAIN looking at post processing the TS file, to get a smaller MediaMVP friendly file...

I'm able to transcode either a TS or a muxed MPG at about 17fps with either Mencoder or ffmpeg... That's slow...

Of course, I really should be thinking of demuxing the file (which involves me learning about what I just said) so I wonder if anyone knows of a fast commandline tool that will make my large files small.

Thanks...

  NPvr on Xp decoder choices
Posted by: stustunz - 2011-01-27, 10:38 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (9)

Just thought id post my findings for people using npvr and xp playing mepg2-ts recorded files

If you are having ghosting issues or generally crap playback
Download the latest FFdshow-tryouts decoder
look for the newest file the download link on the webpage does not link to the newest version
(ffdshow_beta-rev3152_20091209.exe)

under codecs set mpeg to Libmepeg2(its set to disabled when you install)
go down to overlay tick the box
inside the overlay>output>untick all apart from NV12
set interlace flag to force bob(may be different for you so try weave also)
set field order >topfield first
I also set allow output format changes during playback for fiddling

Interesting things i found
ffdshow playback in evr cpuload was only 7%
where as cyberlink or nvidia with hardware decoding enabled using vmr cpu load was 14%
plus vmr aspect ratios dont work with the nvidia driver bug

So if you are worried about load on cpu dont be
This is the first time i have ever found the ffdshow decoder to be as good if not better than either cyberlink or nvidia

Please post back with your findings or if you have anything to add good or bad

  PM Download (with dates)
Posted by: steeb - 2011-01-27, 09:51 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (1)

Dear all,

tried this the other day, semi-success. Want to download PM's from my forum inbox and import into Outlook. Tried .csv, tried xml. What I really want is to get the dates, no field for dates in Outlook import fields... Did a bit of googling, suspect there may be some kind of workaround, not sure.

So question is (before I waste hours on this and then find it is not possible Big Grin ) has anyone successfully downloaded and imported PM's into Outlook with dates?

cheers

steeb

Left / Right Audio Channel Switch from PCH?
Posted by: jksmurf - 2011-01-27, 05:44 PM - Forum: MVPMCX2 and other NMT stuff - Replies (14)

Sometimes we get sports feeds in two languages on the cable feed:

1. If is two audio streams, I can just select the English one (on the PC, via right click, Audio Stream Track 1 or Track2)
2. If is ONE audio stream, but different language for left right speaker, I can just lower the slider in AC3, on the PC.

But how on Earth do I do this on the PCH? I tried the audio button on the PCH Remote. No go. This works when playing normal DVD's, from a standalone DVD player.

k.

Playback of in-progress recording exits when recording finishes
Posted by: wtg - 2011-01-27, 04:02 PM - Forum: MVPMCX2 and other NMT stuff - Replies (2)

I've seen this happen a few times with both gbpvr and npvr and wonder if this is a known bug or not.

I started watching a show last night while it was still in the process of recording. In case it matters, comskip was running in parallel. I don't have comskip's Live_TV option enabled so I don't believe it's output gets written until the recording completes.

I'm not sure of the exact timing but at about the time the recording of the show completed, we hit a commercial break during our viewing. I hit the skip button but instead of skipping forward, playback abruptly halted and sent us back to the Recordings screen. When we resumed watching the show everything was fine from that point forward, and now we had a comskip timeline available too.

I've had this happen numerous times and it seems to happen on the first skip following completion of the recording. Is this a known problem? I've seen it happen so many times in the past that I'm surprised if it's not. If not I'll be happy to post some logs to help you sort it out. Unfortunately I didn't grab my logs last night and they've rolled over since then so I don't have anything to share.

Thanks,
Tim
