PSIP info not being read ?
Posted by: Spark - 2011-01-04, 10:12 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - No Replies

Playing around with npvr (Dec 24th release), and when I set up a scan, it found the QAM channels, but it didn't have any PSIP info, so they were all unknown.
I tried with gbpvr again, and did a rescan, and it did find the PSIP info in about 1/3 of the channels.

Is this a known issue ?

Oh, is there a way to see signal strength with npvr ?

  what is timing.info?
Posted by: steveum - 2011-01-04, 06:25 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

Can someone explain or point me to a thread that explains timing.info?

I keep seeing it referenced in different threads, but I can't seem to find any explanation of what it is or where it is or how do I know if I have one.

  device status omits HDPVR
Posted by: steveum - 2011-01-04, 06:05 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (2)

I have noticed that when I check the device status from the system tray, it does not list my HDPVR as one of the devices. It is also missing when checking the device status from right clicking on the NextPVR screen too.

  Digital Cable (QAM) Tuner Support
Posted by: hypnos - 2011-01-04, 04:07 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (4)

Please, sir, I'm looking for tuner support. I've been running GBPVR 1.4.7 with a kworld ATSC-110 tuner card for clear QAM channels. I installed NPVR 1.5.36 and, as mentioned in "Getting Started," it recognizes only ATSC (713x BDA ATSC Tuner) and not QAM support. I attached the log files from both GB & N hoping for some help.

Also, when I ran Filter Check, it does not identify any encoder or multiplexer filters. Is this the result of the QAM support not being identified or another issue?

  Analog Encoder issue
Posted by: Ivan917 - 2011-01-04, 03:25 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (15)

I have a Hauppauge WinTV HVR-1290 (Model 85xxx, Combo ATSC/QAM, SW Encode). I am trying to get the composite input working. (ATSC works fine) I get message no encoder found. I did regsvr32 "c:\program files (x86)\npvr\hcw_mcmpeg2mux.ax" but I'm thinking the analog device file may need a modification - just not sure how to do it. The attached filtercheck appears to see my tuner card as a Hauppauge WinTV 885 Video Capture card though. Any ideas?

How to run npvr.cgi and startmeup from a linux box
Posted by: StevHodge - 2011-01-04, 03:16 PM - Forum: MVPMCX2 and other NMT stuff - Replies (7)

Why would you want to do this i hear you ask?
Reason is that I let my NPVR machine go to sleep when not in use for a while
Obviously mvpmcx2 and the rest won't run if the NPVR box isn't up
So it struck me that I could run NPVR.cgi from my linux machine which is always up, and patch in a loop to the cgi which would check whether the NPVR box is up and if not send a wake-up-on-lan message, then wait a few seconds before proceeding
I got it to run npvr.html from the linux box (set up a new share), but the cgi script which the html calls doesn't seem to work.
It still works fine if I run it from the NPVR box.
Is this mission impossible???

Hardware encoder needed for NPVR ?
Posted by: Chapon - 2011-01-04, 02:25 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (21)

Hi!

last year, I tried to install GV-PVR 1.4.7 on my PC and it didn't work.

Sub explained that:

You cant use the HVR-1250 for analog with GB-PVR. It lacks the required hardware MPEG2 encoder. You can use it for digital though.

Is it still the case in NPVR?

xnpvrcli - linux/unix client for NPVR
Posted by: tmrt - 2011-01-04, 01:06 PM - Forum: Community Announcements - Replies (43)

With some help from Martin Vallevand I am developing a linux/unix client for NPVR. I wanted it for a thin ION/atom based client. It is almost in (I would say) an alpha stage and I post it here to see whether it is any interest to develop it further and to maybe get some testers.

Current prealpha version provides the basic functionality beeing also able to play music and video with some features still missing. It has only been tested on Ubuntu 9.10 based XBMC live installation so I do not know how it will behave on other distributions.

For playback it uses mplayer, so anything mplayer plays well on your system should play well with xnpvrcli. (On my ION only SD material plays OK with mplayer while I still have problems with HD, especially when interlaced.)

It is unfortunately not possible to seek the media files with the stock mplayer due to NPVR http server bug. I can provide a workaround patch for mplayer to resolve this issue temporarily. I hope however that sub will soon fix NPVR to enable seeking with the stock mplayer.

Sources (prealpha stage) can be found from http://xnpvrcli.git.sourceforge.net/git/...-index.cgi. Only experienced linux users will be able to compile it, mainly due to lack of any detailed documentation. (Any help with documentation would be appreciated.)

  DVD playback on nPVR
Posted by: ydekmekji - 2011-01-04, 05:46 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (9)

Today, I decided to make the leap to nPVR. So far, I LOVE nPVR. I'm actually running it on XP. Question for me to decide is: Am I ready to upgrade to win7????

This question is about DVD playback. I've tried a variety of combination renderers, decoders and all I get in playback is a purple screen. I get audio but no picture... thoughts?
