Can't play recorded video files on PCH-A100 using GBPVR
Posted by: dvasco - 2011-01-04, 03:35 AM - Forum: MVPMCX2 and other NMT stuff - Replies (4)

I had to reinstall Windows and GBPVR 1.4.7. I can get GBPVR to show up on the PCH-A100 but the screen goes black for a moment then goes to the NMT menu when I try to play a recorded video file. The video files are on the D drive, but I tried to play a video on the C drive in video library and it wouldn't play either. I tried it with the firewall and antivirus off and Simple File Sharing is on. I have the recording service set to start with the admin's username and password. I can play the videos through the NMT file browser just fine. I can't think of anything else to try.

Here's the NMTchecker output

  a little decoder help please
Posted by: Etacovda - 2011-01-04, 12:20 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (12)

Hi guys,

Having some issues getting smooth deinterlace with h.264 files. My machines not exactly high powered (3600x2, 1gb ram, 7600gt).

CoreAVC is working well, but has interlacing issues; if i create a custom graph using ffdshow to deinterlace post avc it works well, but how can i get npvr to use this custom graph?

any advice appreciated!

  Freesat Mappings
Posted by: NumberFive - 2011-01-03, 10:57 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

Hi,

I've just taken my first dip into NPVR, and it looks really good. I just have two(ish) questions ( Smile ), does it still map UK Freeview channels by their numbers correctly? I added some DVB-S channels first and they assumed all the usual numbers. Also, is there a way of downloading a Freesat Channel Map so that I don't have to manually sort through the 446 channels it found? Is this what Bulk Map is about?

Really really impressed by the new software. Took me a while to work out where the "config" was, but as soon as I twigged to that it was really easy to use! Awesome piece of software, sub.

Thanks Smile

  stuttering and loss of audio
Posted by: DaveE - 2011-01-03, 10:15 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (4)

I am using the latest cumulative patch for NPVR as of writing this post, with an hd-pvr connected to a cable box. Mostly using this setup for livetv.
After a lot of headaches of getting the arcsoft decoders working I have npvr mostly working.
During livetv sometimes the video will begin to stutter and audio stops. I've noticed that this usually occurs when a commercial starts or a show is resuming after commercials. Sometimes the video will go to an all blue screen/no audio for a few seconds and then recovers, I'm guessing this is related as it occurs during similar times.
Perhaps this is related to aspect ratio/resolution changes? I'd appreciate any ideas, I've tried using different renderer options. I had an older install of NPVR working flawlessly, but I reinstalled windows and put in a new video card(hd5870). I'm somewhat tempted to try to get an older version of npvr and see if that makes a difference.

  Nova-TD on Windows 7
Posted by: NumberFive - 2011-01-03, 08:59 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (17)

Hi,

I've been having problems with my Nova-TD on Windows 7, it seems to be suffering from the x64 driver problem discussed here:

Anyone had any experience of this, and success stories or suggestions?

  NPVR won't update EPG
Posted by: Esteban - 2011-01-03, 05:20 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (14)

I'm getting guide data using mc2xml and the xmltv.xml file it produces has guide data through 2011 01 14 . But the guide in NPVR shows "no show details" starting later today. Apparently even though the file is updating and even though that same file is the one that NPVR is set to look at, NPVR is not getting the new data.

I've attached logs. Thanks for looking.

Esteban

  Blank screen on LiveTv
Posted by: ReggiePerrin - 2011-01-03, 01:59 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (9)

Hi

I wonder if someone can help with this issue please? The PCH is effected by the problem, but I think it's a NPVR software issue hence posting it in this forum. I've also checked the other threads and I don't see anything similar.

Symptoms:-
Intermittent, but frequent, blank screen in Live tv.

Occurs:-

1. When starting livetv from the guide.
2. When changing channels
3. After watching TV for approx an hour (the registery was changed to increase the duration of livetv recording to 1 hour before a new TS is created)

Setup:-

WHS running NPVR v1.5.36 (updated with Johnsonx42's zipped patch files), Hauppauge Nova DVB-S and Pinnacle 7010i Tuners (Server)
PCH A100 (only running client)

To 'fix' the blank screen.

1. The PCH has to be cold-restarted, as it doesn't respond to the warm restart command.
2. The NPVR server has to be cold-restarted. The NPVR service can be stopped and restarted without having to cold-restart the server, but the satellite tuner will not detect any channels during a scan using 'Server-NPVR-Setup-Devices-Device Setup-scan'. The other tuners do still detect channels when a scan is initiated before the cold-restart.

Things tried/noted.

1. Swapping the order in which tuners are used doesn't effect the problem, i.e. both the Hauppauge and Pinnacle tuner cards 'hang' and can only be used again after the server is restarted.
2. Device Manager shows the hung card as still working.
3. Nothing in the Servers event logs to suggest something has gone wrong.
4. Hauppauge drivers have been updated to the latest available versions.
5. 0 byte TS files are being created in the LiveTv folder; these have to be manually deleted after restarting the service.
6. The NPVR v1.5.36 upgrade was done using mvallevand's NMTinstall2 utility

Workaround:-

Looking at the MVP and Nrecord logs it appears to be a problem with nrecord.exe, so I downgraded from version .36 of nrecord.exe to version .31 (the last known stable version that worked on my setup). All other files were left at the patched .36 version.

I've now been running the 'custom' setup for a few hours with no issue. Interestingly the TS files that NPVR creates are being deleted after livetv is stopped. So I guess that it's not nrecord that deletes the old TS files??

I've attached two sets of logs to help with this one. The first one shows the problem with v36 of nrecord.exe, the second set is using v31 of nrecord. Also attached is a directory listing of c:\program files\npvr to show the versions of files being used (with .31 of nrecord)

Thanks in advance for any help on this
cheers
Richard

New NPVR cannot find any channels
Posted by: cyclone05 - 2011-01-03, 01:54 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (4)

I just upgrade my HTPC and decided to start with a fresh install of NPVR, I had been using the last version (1.5.33) without any problems, but after installing 1.5.36 NPVR can't find any channels on either tuner of my HDHR.

I'm able to find all the channels and watch them using the HDHR software, but NPVR sayings no channels found after running a scan. Any ideas, or do I just need to go back to the older version for now?

I'm using wired ethernet, nearly identical setup as my last computer (just faster processor, more ram, and a blu ray drive) that had been running GBPVR and then earlier NPVR for about 4.5 years. Currently running Windows XP, but tried it on my Win7 (64 bit Ultimate) and had the exact same problem.

Update: With this version of NPVR you can't set the HDHR program to GBPVR (you could in earlier versions), you must set it to other. That I think fixed it, but I have to go to work now, so I'll update if I get it all working.

Windows 7 and Working DVD Menu Navigation
Posted by: imilne - 2011-01-03, 12:37 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (8)

I *am* going to start using NPVR at some point - honest - but in the meantime, what combinations of MPEG2 decoder and DVD Navigator do people have working with GBPVR and Windows 7 (either EVR or VMR9)? And does it work with both discs and rips?

I've had no luck with anything yet. DVDs are playing fine, but I can't get highlighting to work in the menus. You can still navigate around them with some guesswork, but it'll drive the wife crazy.

Digital cards can't be used together unless live
Posted by: macgyver - 2011-01-03, 12:30 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (15)

I really want to move to nPVR but after two days I'm at the hair tearing stage. There are obviously niggles that I can work with but I have two fundamental problems. One is the psisdecd.dll crash which I'm still trying to resolve following the various comments.
The other I'm a bit stumped with. My setup has three cards (see sig.) but I can't get the two digital cards to record at the same time. I can record on either one no problem but if one is recording then I get 'no tuners available' UNLESS I record on one and select live TV on the other, then they both work.
I have attached the logs from my last testing but I can't see anything referring to the 'no tuners available' messages that I get.
Any ideas? I should mention that I have loads of merged channels as most channels appear on all three tuners. Also I upgraded tp XP SP3 (to try and sort the psisdecd issue) but notice that you (sub) no longer even have an XP machine so what is the recommended setup now - W7?
Cheers for any help, I want to keep up with the development but right now GBPVR is pretty stable for me.
