  IR Server Suite Setup
Posted by: ottoguy - 2010-11-19, 04:55 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (1)

Can someone give some pointers on setting up IR Server Suite with NPVR? I installed the software and programmed in IR commands on the translator. Not completely sure what I need in the Programs section of Translator? I imported an old file for GBPVR and was trying to make it work.

I told NPVR to use the IRBlast.exe file but not sure what arugments I need? The GBPVR doc showed "-host localhost -pad 3 -channel {channel}" (without the quotes).

Any help someone could give would be greatly appreciated. In case it matters I'm using Win7 64-Bit with a Microsoft MCE USB blaster and NPVR.

Can't record analog and OTA together on HVR1600.
Posted by: replaytv - 2010-11-19, 02:39 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

Hi,

I tried to search if anyone else in this forum has this problem with concurrent recording analog and OTA on HVR1600.

I am testing by recording one channel over OTA, then attempt to do quick record on analog but NPvr keeps saying "No Tuner available for this recording"; however, if I select "Watch" button on the analog channel, I am able to see the channel on screen.

Can sub or someone show me how to fix this? Thanks.

Dan L.

  Recording service not working
Posted by: dspdrew - 2010-11-19, 03:03 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (7)

I have a problem that seems to happen about once a week. Ill come home and find that the "Whats New" screen showing the last recording at about 2AM that morning. I know there were quite a few shows that should have recorded, including one that should have been recording when I walked in. Again, nothing in the "What's New" screen shows that any recordings failed or anything, just shows the last recording at 2AM that morning. I try accessing the System plugin, and NPVR crashes. I try watching Live TV, and I get nothing, just "Please wait" until it finally crashes.

I checked services.msc, and it shows the NPVR Recording service in "Started" status. I also noticed that the computer has been waking up when it is supposed to record something and then goes back to sleep 10 minutes later with sleep reason: System Idle. I tried starting the recording service, but still the same. I tried Re-starting the recording service, and now everything seems to be working normal again, and 13 failed recordings are now showing in the "What's New" screen.

Anybody have any idea why this keeps happening? I posted the NPVR log from when I tried watching Live TV and it crashed, and I posted the NRecord log from before it stopped recording until now.

Disabling GBPVR for transition to NPVR
Posted by: steveum - 2010-11-18, 10:18 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (2)

What is the recommended way of disabling GBPVR when transitioning to NPVR? I don't want to uninstall it until I know I have things working on NPVR. I have bunch of reoccurring recordings setup in it that I plan to move to NPVR once it is working.

overlay render does not work in 1.5.33
Posted by: GreatMilenko - 2010-11-18, 08:01 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (12)

Hello

I have just tried NPVR 1.5.33 and the first thing that strikes me is that the overlay render does not work in this version, even if it has been set in the settings and i can see that the configuration file (config.xml) has it right:
<Renderers>
<VideoRenderer>Overlay</VideoRenderer>
<AudioRenderer>Realtek HDA HDMI Out</AudioRenderer>
</Renderers>

Then the log file states that it is trying the EVR render:
2010-11-18 21:18:47.187 [DEBUG][1] Graph filter list:
2010-11-18 21:18:47.203 [DEBUG][1] - Realtek HDA HDMI Out
2010-11-18 21:18:47.203 [DEBUG][1] - EVR Renderer
2010-11-18 21:18:47.203 [DEBUG][1] - ffdshow Audio Decoder
2010-11-18 21:18:47.203 [DEBUG][1] - MPC - Video decoder

that can't be right?

This is a critical issue for me because i loose hardware accelerated output, and the result is a stuttering movie.

In GBPVR it's working fine.

cheers

mkv embedded subtitles and audio tracks
Posted by: jam_zhou - 2010-11-18, 06:22 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (10)

Hi,

I just got a slew of mkv movies and I would like to be able to access the embedded subtitles and audio tracks in GBPVR. Can anyone help get that working? Also, it would be required to switch them using the remote or else all else is moot.

I've got it working using MPC-HC through My Videos but i'd like to have it native in GBPVR.

Thanks.

No m4v(mp4) playback after SAF 5 install
Posted by: mila06 - 2010-11-18, 02:10 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (4)

Hi

I have installed SAF 5, and now i cannot play back M4V files. It just blinks and returns to nPvr menu. It plays fine in windows media player.

I have tried to add M4V ext in ffdshow MP4-profile but it doesn't work. Any ideas?

  Why I'll never use MythTV
Posted by: siliconaudio - 2010-11-18, 08:29 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (20)

So the other day, I thought I'd take a foray into MythTV. I did a little reading and found that I could forget about getting any real use out of my ATI video card. Right-O, I buy an nVidia for just over $100. OK, now I'm sure my garden variety Azurewave (Twinhan) AD-SP200 DVB-S cards will be supported, after all they're common as mud - WRONG! OK, how about my two USB DVB-S units - NOPE, in fact only two or three of all the USB DVB interfaces ever made are supported in Linux... By the time I realised I'd need to drop another couple of hundred bucks on a pair of Linux supported DVB cards, I gave up.

I thought after all this time, the driver support in Linux would be pretty good. The truth is there is a mountain of hardware out there either not supported, or only partially supported.

Sure, I guess if I had started out with the intention of building a MythTV box before I had bought any hardware, I could have done my research and chosen hardware carefully. The real "Myth" is that you can use any old hardware to build a linux box and use it for MythTV. As an example, none of the hardware video enhancements are available to me if I choose to use my recent ATI card, and it's not even clear it it will use all the GPU horsepower to off-load video rendering.

Every couple of years I have a crack at Linux, find it absolutely useless for anything more than web browsing, and un-install. Sure, it can be useful as a back-end server, but as a desktop OS, it's still a waste of perfectly good PC hardware.
