  need sub-menus or multi-level menus
Posted by: johnsonx42 - 2010-11-20, 06:36 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (22)

Anything in the works to allow sub-menus or multi-level menus? I haven't installed all the plugins I might like, nor all the custom tasks I want, because the main menu already has too many items. I even removed LiveTV and TVGuide (and access those by remote buttons), and it's still too cluttered.

I think a 2-dimensional menu similar to windows media center would work well. Left and right select different items on the current menu, then up and down arrows access other menus. That way I could have the main TV, Recordings and Video functions on one menu, streaming services on another, music & photos on a third, and so on...

VMR9 needed to play Danish SD H264, while EVR needed for Swedish SD
Posted by: NewUserIdAgain - 2010-11-20, 11:04 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (10)

Hi

I my area of sweden I can watch both Swedish and Danish TV.

I'm in the process of moving to NPVR but I have the following problem.
Swedish television uses MPEG 2 SD, if I want to watch these channels I need to select EVR. If I use VMR9 I get a picture that is 2/3 of the correct size. This picture is offset up and left, the rest is "noise".

If I try to watch danish SD H264 I only get to view the top left part if I use EVR and get a correct picture I need to use VMR9. Watching the danish HD H264 channel works in EVR thou.

I use the CoreAVC decoder for decoding H264 and ffdshow for mpeg2. The PC used is an ION based Asrock 330HT

  Infrared response slow
Posted by: Flyndr - 2010-11-20, 02:10 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (6)

Hope you can help. I am just trying NPVR. Looks good so far but doesnt have all the bells and whistles of GBPVR as yet (plugins etc).

My first problem is that menu clicks (using mouse and keyboard) are ok but same functions with Haupauge 45 button remote takes about 10 seconds a click.

Is this some problem in the configuration in the Windows IRconfig file?

It is too slow for usefulness at the moment as it stands.

Any suggested fixes?

remote key to jump directly to recordings menu
Posted by: steveum - 2010-11-20, 01:50 AM - Forum: MVPMCX2 and other NMT stuff - Replies (4)

Is there any remote key that will allow you to jump directly to the recordings menu when using NPVR with the NMT?

With GBPVR, I could do this with the MENU key. As I recall, this was not the default behavior. By default the MENU key would take you to the pictures menu directly as I think is happening with NPVR. I don't recall the setting that managed this in GBPVR, but I know it was something that had to be manually edited in the config file.

Unable to communicate with recording service
Posted by: gonzo90017 - 2010-11-19, 11:35 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (37)

I set up a Windows XP machine with NPVR as a client. I can see the TV Guide fine. But whenever I try to watch something it gives me the error: "Unable to communicate with recording service".

  Volume Control with NPVR
Posted by: steveum - 2010-11-19, 10:21 PM - Forum: MVPMCX2 and other NMT stuff - Replies (3)

I have finally made the transition to NPVR.

I have noticed that I can no longer control the volume from my NMT remote. I have a mvpmcs2.ini file that looks like this:

[0006DC42705D]
PageUp=VolumeUp
PageDown=VolumeDown

[0006DC446DA5]

I have two NMT devices as you can see. The bottom one I use a universal remote that controls the volume on my receiver. The top one is for the device that I seem to have lost the control over the volume.

On a similar possible related item, which remote key should I be using to page through the Ready Recordings? If I hit the key I use to use for this, it jumps to the other recording types like "Whats New" or "Pending".

  Updating EPG
Posted by: gonzo90017 - 2010-11-19, 10:08 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (4)

Whenever I click on UpdateEPG it takes way to long. Don't remeber it taking this long with GBPVR?
My source is XMLTV I created using Zap2xml. It's located inside NPVR's folder. I update the EPG by going to Settings> Channels> then clicking Update EPG. A "Status" box pops up and it seems like it's scanning? What am I doing wrong?

  replace pvr150
Posted by: chewy747 - 2010-11-19, 08:45 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (4)

just out of curiosity what would be a good replacement for 2 pvr 150 cards that I have? I may be looking to upgrade 1 or both of them. Right now all I have is basic analog cable in the USA. The abililty to record hd ota recording in the future would be nice but I dont know if my pc could handle it right now.

Basic setup NPvr from my note
Posted by: replaytv - 2010-11-19, 05:30 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - No Replies

Basic setup NPvr from my note hopefully this will help new user.

Tuners:

HVR500 dual analog tuners and HVR1600 using OTA NTSC and analog with Set Top box (STB).

Cable:

Limited Comcast basic, OTA local channels and Sport Entertainment channels on STB.

EGP:
mc2xml.exe for EGP creates c:\xmltv.xml from channel list with one xmtv file including all channels from basic cable, OTA and STB.
To make channel list, open up the xmltv.xml with text editor like notepad and copy the channel id (I2.28456035.microsoft.com) into a list. Save and name it xmltv.chl.

NPvr basic setup:

This NPvr setup is in addition of the GBPVR, so all the MS Visual C++ runtime, DirectX and .Net 2.0 already installed previously.
The only extra application I have to install is WinTV7 so that NPvr can recognize my analog tuners.

Start NPvr, then right click to get to Settings.

Devices -

My HVR1600 shows up as 3 devices with name as 418 - OTA, QAM and Analog.
I unchecked the enable for QAM since I don't use it.
Select NTSC and click on device setup button. Hit Scan button Digital Recording Setting. Hit OK when done.
Select Analog, then device setup. Since I use IR Blaster, I set up channel changer pointing to the old HaupBlast.exe from GBPVR
C:\Program Files\Devnz\GBPVR\HaupBlast.exe.
Click Import button to get EPG setup. I select Composite from Input Source since this is from my STB channels. For XMLTV, I points to c:\xmltv.xml where my xmltv resides.
I unchecked all the channels this tuner can't access like OTA or not needed.
One thing I have to do, after import and get back to analog recorder settings, is that the channel number appears the same 418 for HVR1600. I manually change them to the appropriate number.

My HVR500 shows up as 2 devices with 2nd one as (#2). Select each device and go to Device Setup.
Hit Import button. XMLTV already set to point to my c:\xmltv.xml. I unchecked all channels that are not apply to this tuner.
I also manually change the channel number 100 to appropriate channel number for HVR500.
I do the same thing with the 2nd tuner of HVR500.

Channels -

I see multiple lines for same channels. I select them together, right click and merge them into one line. I double click on each ATSC channel to map to corresponding guide channel, and change the number under General so I can group all the ATSC channels together on the TVGuide. Once every looks good, I hit the Update EPG button.

Recordings, Media folders, Decoders, Misc ...etc. are configured.

I also make new section for NPvr in the irremote.ini to use the Hauppauge remote.

I also uninstall npvr several times to play with it. It is good to do a clean uninstall using Control Panel and erase NPVR folder in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data.

Done.
