Tried every decoder combination and also reinstalled the current version, but after years of trouble free service my nextPVR client wont sync the audio for some reason. Any other ideas appreciated. Thanks in advance
Is there a way to change the resolution of the fanart nextpvr grabs? The resolution is very low and looks blurry in kodi. I am using scheduled direct as a guide source.
I just replaced my HD HomeRun Flex 4K quad tuner with a new one (I was experiencing increasing failures with messages like “HDHR stream failed” and ”No data delivered”. I couldn’t see any cause for the missed recordings and guessed that the HDHR was starting to fail). The new unit is the same model as the old one. I installed the new unit following Silicondust instructions, and then went into NextPVR Settings\Devices and ran a scan to detect the new tuners, then enabled the same channel listing I had already set up for the old tuners for each new tuner. Any old tuners in the device listing have been set to Disabled status.
However, it appears that my recordings are not operating in the same way that they did with the old HDHR. With that unit, recordings made on the same channel, even if they had different sub-numbers (e.g. 4.1, 4.2, 4.3, etc.) would only use one tuner, and multiple programs would overlap on the tuner while finishing their pre-pad and post-pad times. If a program on another channel needed a tuner and no other tuner was free, a program with a post-pad would give up the tuner for the program that needed to be recorded. It was all very slick.
With the new tuner, it seems that this common channel sharing sometimes occurs, but usually does not. Additionally, it also appears that a program with a post-pad may not relinquish the channel to a program that is scheduled to be recorded in the same time slot, even if no other tuner is available for the program to be recorded. With my previous tuner, this was not a problem. As a result, I am seeing recording failures with a message of “Failed: No error, but no data delivered. This is usually because the device failed to lock a signal.”
As an example, in the attached log2 file, there is an error message for the show The Last Stand at the following time stamp. This show did not record because a couple of other programs still had a few minutes left in their Post-pad recording time and one of them did not relinquish its tuner:

I also took a quick look at the Search tool for this program and saw a message “Failed to start requested stream”.
I was thinking that the allocation of tuners is managed by NextPVR. Is this the case? If so, can you suggest anything that I may have missed when setting up the new tuners that may have been the cause of this change in operation?
I have a default Pre-pad of 3 minutes and Post-pad of 33 min for all programs. The first test recordings started from a sleep state. I rebooted the PC a couple of times and also restarted the HDHR before conducting the test.
I have my install set up to transcode the recordings to MP4. I left it on the default setting of CPU Encoder. It tends to start the encodings immediately after the recordings are completed, but that often conflicts with when I still want to use the computer, and its stuck at like 97% CPU usage because of multiple instances of FFMEG running.
Was wondering if I can set the time for transcoding? Did not see that in settings.
Or might it be better to use another option to transcode, like NVIDIA (b/c I have an NVIDIA gfx card)
I always found that the problem with having windows set to sleep when idle is was that the PC was asleep when I actually want it to be awake.
I want my NextPVR PC to be on during the evening so that when we sit down for TV dinners, I can just click "play" from the UIDroid client on my TV without having to faff about with waking the PC up first.
I also have my music streaming software (Roon) running on the PC and again, I want to be able to just click play and stream music from the server without having to wake the PC up first.
The rest of the time, I want the PC to just wake up when it needs to (to record a show or perform updates) and then just go back to sleep again afterwards as I don't want the PC running 24x7.
My eureka moment was when I realised that I can run a scheduled task to tell windows what power plan to use. This page gave me all the information that I needed to set this up.
I have a powerplan called "Stay Awake" which has sleep mode disabled and I run a scheduled task at 17:45 that wakes the PC up and activates the Stay Awake power plan so the PC stays awake all evening.
Then at midnight, I run another scheduled task that changes the power plan back to Balanced (which has a 10min idle timer set) and then PC will go to sleep at some point thereafter.
It works perfectly. I might tweak it a bit to wake up a bit earlier during the weekend, easy enough in the task scheduler.
Just sharing here in case this proves to be of any use to anyone else.

The mini pc is not very powerful, old model, but apparently everything was enough, except maybe the wifi adapter, that was pretty slow and only 2,4G wifi net capable
I installed a wifi 5G capable USB adapter, but the internet speed is quite poor, around 40 to 100 Mbps depending on the system mood (lloks like the pc is the bottleneck). But I thought this should be enough anyway for streaming live tv to the client.
If I run the client on the same server PC, there is no problem, so it looked like a netwrok issue apparently.
So, finally I temporarily substituted the old mini pc by a newer one I had at home for other purposes, and it runs perfectly with it.
So my question is, where could be the bottleneck here? Can I save my old pc or just have to buy a new one? apparently the system resources looked enough, CPU around 2%, memory 50%, wifi peaks of 11Mbps...
I mean, what are the most typical system demanding issues from NextPVR server streaming?
I’ve been thinking about the long-term preservation of my recordings, and I would really like to have the option to back them up onto VHS tapes.
I know that VHS is an older technology, but it’s still widely available on the second hand market. Plus, VHS tapes are known for their durability and can last for many years if properly stored.
Having the ability to backup recordings onto VHS tapes would give me peace of mind knowing that I have a physical copy of my recordings that I can keep for a long time. I think this would be a great feature to add to NextPVR, and I’m sure there are others in the community who would appreciate it as well.
Please consider adding this feature to the wishlist. It would be great to have the option to select a recording and choose to backup to a VHS tape, just like how we can currently backup to an external hard drive or network drive.
After having the AppleTV app for a few years, I finally dropped the coin for the iOS/iPadOS version so I could watch my NextPVR feed from outside my home network. I can connect to my server remotely, watch live TV and access the TV Guide no problem, but fast-forwarding (and I assume rewinding) doesn’t work when viewing recordings. I move the slider over and the slider stays in place, but the video restarts.
